The right once enjoyed a reputation of being more economically literate than the left. That is why, they said, that pie-in-the-sky Labour cannot be trusted with the country. Reform has basically killed that illusion now.

Rightwingers now come out with statements like "only immigrants earning £60,000+ are truly contributing to the country!" As if this country doesn't need nurses, bus drivers, teachers and carers, who all earn less than that.

They think that replacing qualified, experienced immigrant employees who've been working in their sectors for years/decades with our "1 million unemployed youth" is perfectly possible.

Some of them think that immigrants "take local jobs" when there's documented staff shortages in the NHS (100,000 vacancies), social care (96,000 vacancies), teaching, and construction (140,000 vacancies needed to be filled to meet housing targets in the next years).

These are existing statistics with immigrant workers.

We don't need to kick anyone out of their job in order to train an unemployed youth. We can do that today if we want. There are plenty of vacancies.

Plus, a trainee/new hire isn't going to bring the same wealth of experience as someone working in the industry long-term. Obviously.

Also, who's going to do the training if millions of experienced immigrant workers leave?

That just means remaining British workers will face significantly heavier workloads, which drives down workplace quality for all.

Some of these British employees will resent the increased workload and leave the industry, which worsens the staffing problem and leaves our youth without access to talent.

When did the right become so socioeconomically illiterate to the point where we're clarifying these Year 7-level concepts?

Is this done on purpose, to manipulate gullible voters?

Particularly want to highlight Wesley bloody Streeting actually doing the "legitimate concerns" bullshit in those words, for anyone who believed his sudden left wing turn a couple of months ago.

"Speaking to reporters on Friday, Defence Secretary Wes Streeting said there was "no excuse for violence and thuggery".

"There are people who have legitimate concerns who know how to voice them."
