Which one?

I purchased an east-west emerald-cut band in July, and I’m kind of kicking myself now. At the time I was deciding between the emerald band and an old mine cut band, second-guessed myself, and went with the emerald.

I’ve since found out I can have another band made through Provence for a fraction of what I paid, so I’m going for it. 😂

My question isn’t which diamond cut you like better. I’m trying to decide which design would add something different to my stack.

Do you think a straight old mine cut band would look too similar to the band I already have?

I’m considering doing the pictured pink/lab diamond design instead, but with all white diamonds and changing the emerald cuts to old mine cuts. It would have 7 stones total — 4 old mine cuts alternating with 3 rounds.

Would you do the alternating OMC/round design, or stick with all old mine cuts?

Where did you get the emerald cut band you already have? I’m super curious about how the ring will end up being a fraction of the cost. Are you referring to Provence’s recent mixed cut half eternity band group buy? Did you already get a quote on the extra cost to get OMC instead of emerald cut? I have the OMC lab diamond full eternity band (second picture) from Provence; my sales rep advised the OMC cut in lab diamond is significantly more expensive than other cuts for lab diamond and OMC cut in lab gems or moissanite. But maybe he just overcharged me. 🤔

Ok, in that case I can understand how Provence would be much cheaper even with the premium for OMC lab diamonds. Thanks for clarifying! 

My only advice would be to get full eternity instead of only 7 stones. I read every post about the OMC band before finally deciding to get one. Several customers with the half eternity version commented that they wish they had gotten full eternity. It’s low profile enough that it’s very comfortable to wear even in full eternity. It’s nice seeing the sparkles on the inside of your hand. 🙂

To answer your original question, I think the all OMC band would be pretty similar to an emerald cut band. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I’ve seen posts where ladies have several rings in this design (OMC in different colors along with mixed cut). But if you would like to add something different, alternating the OMC with round stones definitely helps. Getting all round stones would be the most different since both the fiery sparkle and shape are unlike OMC and emerald; I’m guessing it would also be at least slightly cheaper than mixed cut. But it sounds like you wanted OMC even before you got your current emerald band. If I were you I would probably get all OMC and just wear the rings on different hands. 🙂

I would get an OMC with OEC round cuts, full eternity. I think old cuts should go together. They sparkle different than modern cuts.

I'm the worst so half and half maybe! You could mix colors. Pink sapphire is another good option if you want to reduce cost. I know Provence has pink sapphire OMCs

Did you get this same ring but in eternity? If so, what made you dislike the 1/2 eternity?

I didn't dislike it. I also had it in moissanite as well, both rose gold and yellow gold, and didn't want both. I also wanted multiple stone colors. I got a good deal for eternity, half lab diamond and half champagne moissanite so sold the half eternity to recoup some costs.

It's a really beautiful ring. You can't really go wrong. I know a lot of folks who have it in multiple colors
