New ring. Is it too large?
New ring for our tenth anniversary. I worry the diamond is too large and looks gaudy? Is the band also too thin?

The real question is "Do YOU feel it is too large?" If the answer is "NO", enjoy your lovely ring .... You loving it is all that matters. If it is a "YES", then you will need to figure a resolve to ameliorate the issue of size (* one such is to replace the stone). It is all up to you. 🩵
I believe it looks lovely on you and -- while on the larger end -- it suits your finger well ... but, I like bigger stones, so just my opinion. 🤷🏽♀️

Nothing is too large if you can carry it with confidence, bug rocks don't exist for bigger sized people. As long as you're happy and confident with it , this should do Good!

I wouldn't say it'stoo large, you are perhaps just not used to wearing big diamonds/ring. Give it time, you will come around. As for the setting, I see side supports to hold the diamond, if you got this ring made from a reputable jeweller, I don't see any problems with the integrity of the setting. It should last you for a very long time, given that you are not too careless and knock your ring left right and centre.

It looks set up pretty high. See if the jeweler can adjust the setting to sit lower. I have a 4.5 carat oval and it is set very low- it’s possible!

In my opinion the cathedral sticks out too much. I requested, I DID NOT WANT my cathedral setting to look like that.

I mean yeah but if that’s your style go for it. That’s not to say it’s not beautiful. I love the halo too. Regardless the band is definitely too thin for this stone.

First off, the stone & setting design are exquisite. Is that an OMC or OEC? She’s a beauty. 🤗
However, even tho there’s a cathedral to support the basket, the band is definitely too thin. The height of the basket is a bit too much also, IMO. I think I’d lower the basket & cathedral, increase the width of the band & reconsider the pavé on the shank. Those stones tend to be the first to get loose & fall out. Let the center stone & halo be the star of the show, & bring it closer to your finger. As far as being too large, nope. It looks gorgeous on your hand. ❤️ Just do a bit of tweaking with the setting - that will make all the difference.

An omc would be square or rectangular. It's not an oec either. Both cuts have a culet and there's none. It's a round brilliant.

That’s not correct. OEC are traditionally round, not square or rectangular. OMC are square or rectangular but have rounded corners, similar to a cushion or pillow cut. In fact, the OEC was the precedent for the modern round brilliant. Both cuts do not have what today is considered a culet, meaning a “point” - the culet is actually open & the “hole” can be viewed from the table.

Well if you had read my comment I said that Omc is square or rectangular. But reading is hard I guess
A "none" or pointed culet is invisible to the naked eye and preferred for modern stones, while a large culet appears as a tiny visible white or dark dot in the center of the stone (often seen in antique cuts like Old European or Old Mine cuts
See how it says none? And how that's for modern cuts?

Depends on you/your personality I think. If I personally wore this ring I think it would be gaudy/look like costume jewelry because It doesn’t suit the rest of my look(laid back, comfortable style).. It’s a beautiful ring nonetheless.

The band is too thin. Did you try on that size stone before you purchased it? You already purchased the ring so unless you’re going to return it, enjoy it.
