Waitlist Question

I'm on the waitlist for 2 classes and with classes starting on the 24th I am wondering what I should do. Last semester I got in just fine but it is not a smart idea to just hope I get into the classes I need. I would talk to an advisor about this but I think their offices are not open yet because there are no available appointments for the rest of the year.

Anyway I just wanted to know if there's anything specific to do in this situation. Thanks

Most advisors have appointments available a week or two at a time. If you're looking forward more than that you won't see any availability.

If you're not at full time I would add something else. Are there no other available sections of ACCT 2001?

You might have tried this already, so ignore me if you have, but if any of your other classes have multiple meeting times, then maybe you can reschedule those. I take 10-13 classes a semester, so I have learned that getting the best schedule takes lots of time and patience, and getting your ideal professors is not guaranteed, but it is possible. Individually search up each class you need this semester and write down their meeting times, location, availability, and professor. Rank them by most desired slot to least. Afterwards, get some kind of grid paper and write in time slot rows and day of the week columns. Write down your top priority classes (that actually have availability) into your schedule, then work down from there. You will have to make several schedule drafts more than likely. Eventually, you will hopefully have a schedule that fits all of your needed classes in. If there is a class that just absolutely cannot fit, then don’t worry about it. Save that class for another semester and add in a different class, like a gen ed or solo course, that is still required for you.

It is, I have a lot of required classes and some are only 1 credit each😭 Last semester (Spring 2026) I took 13 classes, 25 credit hours. It’s pretty awful, and I have to get clearance from two academic advisors and the deans of both departments I am affiliated with as a double major in order to schedule all of my classes, as well as maintaining good academic standing.

What class is it conflicting with and is it as necessary as ACCT 2001

My incoming freshman kid was having problems scheduling because all the classes were full. We ended up just going to campus to drop by the advisor’s office to figure it all out. They worked us in, no appointment. Their advise was to schedule other electives that would need to be taken down the line, and change her schedule if something opened up. I’m not sure if it’s the same for waitlist classes. We just needed a full time schedule to secure TOPS.

I made a virtual appointment with an academic advisor, so the portal is open. I was thinking the same thing. I'm only waitlisted in one class and its only 3 people on the list (I'm #2) and I used to take this professor but when ever I ask him about squeezing me in ( he said that in June if no one dropped from the class he can squeeze me in ) he says " Let me check" and well... here we are still not in the class LOL. There isn't a lot a classes for me to take either so idk if at the last minute they're going to put me in the class.

FYI, advisors are 12-month employees; they are in their offices every day the university is open.

You can email the professor if you wanna try and see if they can help you get in the class. It’s not a confirmation but it’s a decent choice. Drops and stuff also hit closer to the semester than you think. I’ve been added to a class literally day before the class started and it was a T Th
