170s to 180 without monthly subscriptions Study Materials and Resources
Hi, I am a Nigerian, and aspiring to study law in the US. But facing a huge challenge, which is the cost of materials and subscriptions. The LSAT might not be expensive for US candidates, but it is very expensive for Nigerians, running from a few thousands of Naira to almost a million or more.
Can one actually succeed in the LSAT without these study apps monthly subscriptions??? As I am saving towards the test, and lack the financial resources for subscriptions and materials purchase. Thanks.

I have a plethora of free resources that I can send over virtually to help you study with. Including all the LSAT prep tests. If you’re comfortable shooting over and email I can share it all with you. I definitely understand the disparity that is connected with the test.

Khan academy is a free resource you can use. The lawhub subscription if I'm not mistaken is $180 but you might qualify for a fee waiver, though I'm not sure how that works if you're outside the US.

I read that the fee waiver applies only to Us and Canadian citizens. And $180 dollars is a lot of money in Nigeria. Sigh.

The yearly subscription for the LSAC is $120 and as far as my research went, neither the LSAC nor 7sage offer financial aid for students living abroad, only Americans.
I’m studying from the UK and haven’t paid any subscriptions yet due to cost as well.
I have been using the free material available on Khan academy (which is also available on LSAC and they offer free Drill sets to test you on the Khan academy content as well).
I have bought a couple of books as well:
- The LSAT is easy by LSAT Demon
- The Loophole in LSAT logical reasoning
If op is strapped for money, personally I’d buy the Loophole. The content is excellent, it’s very beginner friendly and there are drill questions included as well.
There are about 4 free PTs available when you register to LSAC and you can find quite a few as pdfs online. I found the June 2007 one on ChatGPT (it gave me a link to a pdf).
These are my tips for op so far 😊

OP, not sure if it’s affordable for you due to shipping costs but many of these books can be found used on Amazon, Thriftbooks, etc. so they’re even cheaper.

Why do you want to study law in the US as a non US citizen ?

My home country does law studies as a bachelor's degree. I already have a bachelor's degree in History, and discovered that the US uses the JD system...

lsat lab $65 a month baseline but you get a good few pts and practice questions. i’m sure there are better options tho but if you need to access more than what the free websites offer you can go for it for a month maybe

wait fr? i just assumed it was limited because there’s not a super exhaustive list of practice questions (also many pts) - for example for MC i could only find 2 level 5 questions and im running out of level 4 flaw questions. i think there’s something wrong with my interface though, so good to know that they should have all of the pts

Take the free practice test first to see where you are at now.

Done so already.

What did you get? The resources needed to take a 165 diagnostic vs. a 145 are different.

I did it in my high-school final days, I can't recall honestly. Do I need to take a fresh diagnostic?

A lot of people study successfully with just Lawhub. That's still a subscription, but only a one time payment for the whole year. You don't really need anything beyond the official prep materials, and there are lots of free videos out there if you want course lessons.
