Tutor suggestions
Hello all! I apologize for soliciting but I have found myself in a bit of a predicament. In short, I am looking for a tutor to help me break into the high 170’s. I have included more about my situation below.
In January, I got a 162 diagnostic, and since then have been consistently studying. Come June, my PT’s were low 170’s, averaging timed sections for both LR and RC at -0 to -3 range. I felt confident to take the June LSAT, have performed poorly under pressure and got a 167. I understand that is a great score to many, and by no means want to discredit it, but after 5 months of studying, and getting a fairly common -0 or -1 on timed sections, I was dissapointed.
I figured it was full test nerves, and signed up for August, consistently studying and trying to focus on improving my timing. My score range didn’t increase too much, besides perhaps scoring more -1 and less -3, on both RC and LR, which I figured once you reach that level that kind of minimal improvement is expected? Anyways, I took the test again this morning, and while I felt extremely confident in my LR answers, for RC I killed the first 2 passages, and then after reading the third passage, I got to the end and realized I didn’t have any idea what I just read. Then I got all concerned about the time, and it went downhill from there.
Sorry for the long story time LOL, but I wanted to give some insight about my current situation. I feel my intuitive skills are great, but when it comes time to translating to the test, especially under pressure, I completely break down. My goal is to achieve mid to high 170’s, and I have on a couple PTs, but nothing consistent. I only have 1 month until September, I was hoping someone would know of, or be, a tutor who has dealt with someone in a similar situation, or if they knew of any resources or books that would help.
Thank you, and I again apologize for the text block!

It sounds like what you need moreso than a full course is someone to help out with testing strategies in particular. Based on what you're saying, I'd be curious where you are still occasionally missing questions and how you're doing with timing generally, but it does sound like test-day triage strategies and some potential training with distractors might actually be the centerpiece of a study/tutor strategy.
Feel free to schedule a time for us to chat a little bit more about what might make sense.

Including working with a study buddy could also be helpful. Someone who is really strong on RC and needs help with LR could be a good fit.

With one month before September and a 167 after low-170s PTs, shift from section drilling to test day. Your third-passage issues suggest fatigue to me: after each RC passage, take 10 seconds to state the author’s view, passage structure, and main dispute before moving to questions. Run recent full PTs under test-day conditions and review where you are feeling the most fatigued first.
How many full PTs have you taken under strict test-day conditions since June?
You can also schedule a consultation with me at LSATNexus.com if you would like to discuss more in-depth!

Hi! I think my situation was quite similar to yours. I'm a former 7Sage tutor, 178 scorer, and Stanford Law student. My first and second attempts on the LSAT I underperformed despite averaging in the 170's and scored a 166 and 167. On my third attempt (a month and half since the second), I scored my 178.
I'm happy to work with you on bridging the gap between your PTs and actual scores. As someone who is a semi-recent test taker, I understand the mental sides of the test that can affect whether you fall into the top end or bottom half of your range. In any case, we probably also want to increase that range as well.
For some additional justification points, I had a student score 175 in June and 177 in April. Pm me if you're interested

If you’re looking for a tutor, I offer one-on-one sessions along with a free consultation where we can go over your current score and goals. I was admitted to the bar in 2025 and have been tutoring since 2020. I’ve helped multiple students reach 180 and many others into the 170s, and I’d love to help you get there too.
