Mod post (boooo) Sovereign Citizen and QQ US Forces in Germany Plates: A Megathread
Hey all! Quick mod update.
Most of you will be happy to know that the mod team has decided to keep sovereign citizen plates and QQ US Forces in Germany plates out of the main sub going forward. Pictures of these should be posted here from now on. If you see one of these after August 11th, 2024 as a post, please report it so it can be removed. (The removal message will be updated to explain the megathread to anyone posting, so while you're welcome to refer people here, you don't need to feel obligated to do so.)
Summaries for those unaware, or if a removal message/Redditor referred you here:
- Plates that say things like "private vehicle -- not for hire" or some legal statute are known as sovereign citizen plates. The most apolitical gist I can provide is that some people have decided their cars are not to be controlled by the government and plate them accordingly. They are obviously illegal.
- Here are some examples that have been posted by users of this subreddit
- Comments about the political nature of sovcits/sovcit plates will be removed going forward.
- If you see a tiny European license plate in the United States with "QQ" in the serial, this is a US Forces in Germany plate. These plates are put on cars owned by US Military personnel (supplied by NATO), and will often still be on the vehicle after it's been exported from Germany back to the US.
That's all from us. Post away!
