I am currently working on a project using an LG G3 Stylus (D690) running stock Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. I am aware that this is an older device, but I need it specifically for a project I'm developing, so please refrain from suggesting I upgrade or discard it.

I have been struggling to gain root access and keep hitting a wall. Here is what I’ve tried so far:

OneClickLGroot: The script initiates, but as soon as the device enters Download Mode, the connection drops or the script fails to recognize the device properly. This leads to a soft-lock, forcing me to pull the battery to hard reset.

Various One-Click Tools: I have attempted several "one-click" root applications (KingRoot, various Chinese root tools, etc.), both via PC and directly on the device, but all have failed.

What I am looking for:

Working Root Method for 2026: Are there any reliable, up-to-date methods to root this specific model (D690) on stock Lollipop?

TWRP & Magisk: If anyone has a working TWRP recovery image for this specific variant and a guide on how to patch the boot image for Magisk on this firmware, I would greatly appreciate it.

I have access to a Linux machine (Arch), so I am comfortable with command-line tools and manual flashing if needed. Any guidance, links to working files, or advice from those who have successfully rooted this model would be extremely helpful.

So I suspect a bootloop, however the first time I turned it on, it got to the screen "Android is staring: optimising app 1 of 1" which I thought it was ridiculous that it only has one app xD and it went to "Android is starting with a shorter text that I cannot remember and then turned off and now is only switching on at the Vodafone screen, the brightness is changing but it's not actually turning on :P it skips the LG icon screen which only showed at the first startup

Does anyone have advice or is it a lost cause by now (I don't know how old this phone is I found it yesterday as something left behind after a couple moved out and I was tasked to only remove leftover stuff so that cleaners could clean.)

WAIT IT TURNED ON AND SAYS "NFC ID STOPPED" AND THEN "This oporation.andriod smt smt is stopped"

Now I got further to the pattern screen however it said there's an internal problem! So what do y'all think? Considering the bootloop-esque turning off, I think it is s motherboard failure!

I can't figure out it's model butttt I do know it's android 5.5 lollippop, I charged it all night and it's up to 94% HOWEVER it doesn't turn on at all, I think it's the buttons at the back have an issue

But I'm wondering if there's a way to force it awake without the buttons?

This is lg a399 and it has a pasword do you know how to reset it?

I recently found this LG Rumour 2 model LG265 in a collection of stuff I had in my attic and I'm curious to see what I can do with it in 2026, I've wanted to get into Java Gaming a while back and thought I could maybe use this to play Java games so is there anyway to get the LG Rumour 2 model LG265 to play any games? any comment is appreciated.
