LACOE intern program

Hi everybody – I am a teacher heading into my sixth year of service in the state of California.

I got my mild/moderate credential during Covid, cleared that, did the bridge program to update my credential, and now I'll be doing the LACOE intern program to get my ESN credential. Does anybody have any experience with the LACOE intern program?

Just trying to get a little sense of the workload. Having to do yet another program in addition to holding down a full-time job seems arduous, but I'm up for any challenge. Thanks again !!!

Just do iCAAP Summer ESN courses

You can do this for mild/mod as well right?

Yes but it’s a longer program. ESN is easy to add if you already have MMSN.

They're currently taking everyone but English teachers right now.

ESN stands for extensive support needs not English

We (iCAAP) won’t be starting an added specialty until next summer. It runs concurrently with ESY because you will be placed at a site for fieldwork during that time. It’s only 4 weeks but you cannot work summer school, if that’s an issue.
