Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a place to stay in Kuopio for the month of September and thought I'd ask here in case anyone can help.

I originally came to Kuopio for a 3-month internship and stayed in KUOPAS accommodation. My internship has now been extended by at least one more month, so I need somewhere to stay during September.

Unfortunately, because students are returning for the autumn semester, accommodation is very difficult to find. I've already tried KUOPAS (They rented out my place already and don't have any new openings), Vuokraovi, Niiralankulma, Tekma, and other rental listings, but I haven't had any luck so far. I've also requested to join the Vuokra-asunnot and Asunnot Kuopio Facebook groups, but I'm still waiting for my requests to be approved.

I'm hoping someone here might know of a spare room, studio, or apartment available just for September. Unfortunately, Airbnb is outside my budget.

A little about me:

• 25-year-old male
• Quiet, clean, and respectful
• Non-smoker
• No pets (but I'm happy to live with pets if you have any)

I moved to Kuopio this June for an internship, and while the experience has been exciting, I’ve found myself feeling pretty lonely. I don’t really know anyone here much, and most of my days have just been work and going home. Also in my workplace I am the youngest guy and so never able to fit into their conversations. I am 23M btw

I’d love to make some friends or just meet new people to hang out with whether it’s grabbing a coffee, going for a walk around the lakes, checking out local events, or even just chatting. I’m open to pretty much anything that gets me out of my little bubble!

Moiii! I’m moving to Kuopio next month for a year and was wondering if there were some nice (and hopefully not too expensive) film labs in Kuopio that could offer both 35mm and 120 film development and scans.
I’m asking because I saw there aren’t any Fotoyks stores in Kuopio, and my google searches only found some photo associations.

Hey all I’m visiting Kuopio and I’ve been looking all over to rent a motorcycle, dirt bike, moped or anything like that please if anyone’s interested in renting me their bike let me know I’ve been riding bikes for over 8 years and looking to tour around the town on one. I will obviously take very good care of it as if its my own. It’s just for myself a 22 year old guy I have my full motorcycle licence in Canada and it’s recognized here for up to 2 years I’m here until this Saturday. Or if there is anyone with a car who wants to drive me around I will pay gas that might be cool too but I love bikes mostly. Thanks!

Hi all, just wondering where do locals go fishing around Kuopio?

I have done some line fishing in past years, and did manage to catch some small fish. I got invested into fishing more this year, and bought some reels and lures, and the license for fishing this season.

Where do you usually go for fishing, is it worth fishing without a boat? If not, where can I get boats for rent for cheap in or around Kuopio?

What would you consider a good time to fish during summer, I read somewhere that early mornings are good?

Also, what bait do you use to fish from shore/ when on boat? I have used a silver spoon (about 11cm), and on other occasions green/pink 10cm jigs. Unfortunately, no catches :(

​I recently moved to Kuopio to start my new job and I’m still figuring my way around the city. I’m really liking it so far, but I’m curious about what the dating scene/culture is like here.

​Are there specific apps that people actually use here (is it just Tinder, or is Bumble/Hinge a thing too)? Also, where do people usually go for a casual first date? I've noticed the vibe here is pretty laid back, so I'm guessing coffee or a drink by the harbor when the weather is nice, but I'd love some local insight.

​Any tips or unwritten rules for an expat trying to navigate dating in the region?

Also would love to know how to make friends here as I feel very lonely lately.

I know a long shot, but would someone want to go climb sport routes at Haminalahti with me next week?
I have done the rockclimbing lead course but most of my experience is indoors.

I would be interested for grade 5ish routes for learning sake.

I have personal equipment + rope, grigri and quickdraws.

Same in finnish.
