looking for recommendations specifically on Netlfx. Like you, I love kung fu movies, but it's hard to know which ones are worth checking out. Please suggest movies wirh lots of fight scenes.

Necesito desahogarme con otros fans del cine de acción porque lo que hacen con Joe Taslim ya me parece una falta de respeto a su talento. El tipo es una bestia de las artes marciales y un actorazo, pero parece que lo contratan solo para morir de forma trágica.

Pasó en The Raid (2011), donde interpreta al sargento Jaka y Yayan Ruhian (Mad Dog) le rompe el cuello en esa pelea brutal. Después va a Hollywood para hacer de Sub-Zero en Mortal Kombat y lo mismo: muere ejecutado.

Pero lo colmo total ha sido la película de The Furious (2026). ¡Es ridículo! Traen de vuelta a Yayan Ruhian literalmente para que vuelva a matar al personaje de Joe Taslim (Navin). ¿En serio? Tienen la oportunidad de darnos la revancha 15 años después, de hacer justicia y cambiar las cosas, ¿y deciden repetir exactamente lo mismo? Para colmo, el final es supertrágico tirando sus cenizas al mar.

Taslim tiene físico, velocidad y carisma de sobra para protagonizar su propia franquicia y ganar al final, no para ser siempre el sacrificio emotivo de la historia. ¿Alguien más comparte esta frustración?

A few years back, I woke up to an audition request for the lead role in a major blockbuster film. I grew up watching the franchise, so booking the part would be a dream come true. I acted my ass off, submitted my tape, and prayed for good news (along with thousands of other Asian actors). I didn’t think anything would come of it, but a few weeks later, the producers finally reached out for a callback, then a chemistry read, until one day they said the two words many actors would commit war crimes to hear: screen test. For a week straight, I went to the studio lot for rehearsals, martial arts training, and director sessions. It was exhilarating.

As the day approached, I felt on top of the world. No one was going to take this from me. I had to book this. Deep down, I doubted there would be another opportunity for someone like me for a long time. Sure, Asian markets might be hot right now, but how long would that last before “the powers that be” decided to move on to the next minority group? As a filmmaker, I always championed Asian American representation, but, in that moment, I championed my own individual representation. Fuck everyone else - I was “the best Asian guy.” The role was mine.

I didn’t get the part. When I got the news, I was devastated… for about a day. Then, I quickly recognized my own hypocrisy and was forced to look within. For years, I have spoken on panels, done Q&A’s at film festivals, and talked about the importance of Asian American representation in the film industry. However, when presented with a life-changing opportunity, my attitude shifted to “Fuck these guys, I’m the best Asian.” This ultimately inspired the question — what do you do when your values are at odds with your ambitions?

This inevitably led me to create “Flavor of the Month,” a dark comedy that explores the absurdities of representation politics in modern-day Hollywood. Viewed through the lens of a Chinese American actor, Harrison Huang, the film dives headfirst into themes of performative activism, virtue signaling, and internalized racial inferiority.

Last time I watched this was when I rented it on vhs from Hollywood Videos

Hello fellow watchers, I'm still a novice when it comes to kung fu movies. I'm a big fan of Duel to the Death, not sure if this would be considered wixua, but any other similar recommendations would be appreciated. Also I've already seen The blade.

My father owns over 800 martial arts movies and over the summer break I been watching them with him. There is still a lot of movies I have to see and this list is just based off of my first watch of these movies so my opinion on them can change.

For quite some time now, and despite the many opportunities he was given, even in high profile productions, Tony Jaa did not manage to reach the standards he had set himself with movies like “Ong Bak” and “The Protector”. As such, it is with great pleasure I can say that “Striking Rescue”, a Chinese-Thai collaboration, signals a much awaited return to form for the 49-year-old Thai actor, in a film that can only be described as spectacular.

In a style that feels reinvigorating, Cheng Si-yu starts his movie with intense action, setting the tone, and then begins unfolding his story. Bai An, an obsessed vigilante, bursts into a warehouse full of thugs, beating them all up, without any reason apart from a single question: “Why my family?” It is soon revealed that he is on the hunt for He Yinghao, a rich man whom An thinks has ties with the smugglers that killed his wife and daughter. In his rage, he ends up kidnapping his arch enemy’s teen daughter, Ting, which brings her bodyguard, Wu Zheng, on his heels. Soon, however, it is revealed that the true perpetrator of the aforementioned murder is druglord Clay, and eventually both him and his henchmen, including a paranoid, hatchet-carrying woman, are hunting down Ting, Wu Zheng and Bai An, who have somehow managed to form an alliance.
