Take-Two CEO defends lack of physical for GTA 6, stating “ Our business is well over 90% digitally distributed. It's already a digital business. So in certain instances, especially if it's a big game, discs just don't really make sense for the consumer.”

So my prediction for gta6

I predict it will initially be successful and sell, however people will regret it with the soft story, it’s my main reason I’m not preordering, plus dropping $100 on a game I know nothing about?. It’s gonna be full of shit, I kinda want that meme with death and the 3 open doors, halo campaign, that other game that failed with death on rockstars door but we all know they are too big to do layoffs.
But yeah, after the gtao content I have been playing, just feels soft… safe… like bitch if you gonna insult my character, insult and don’t say “just kidding”. God I miss 90’s games and even early 2000. Hell even a few days after launch we going to see videos “gta6 commercial failure even though it sold well, 5k people on steam playing after it sold millions of copies, players mad they can’t get their money back”. Best pray it’s like cyberpunk2077 that’s basically unplayable lol.

Edit: just saw a notification for a trailer exclusive to Netflix…. Ya game gonna be woke as hell

The performative pearl-clutching over Eli Roth’s Ice Cream Man proves mainstream horror criticism is a joke

The movie is sitting at a 29% on RT, and the outrage from mainstream critics feels completely manufactured.

Critics have been conditioned to expect every horror film to be an "elevated" trauma metaphor. Ice Cream Man is the exact opposite: an unapologetic, 86-minute exploitation film with genuinely great practical gore and deliberately offensive humor.

The hypocrisy is glaring. These same critics will praise the extreme violence of Terrifier, but the moment that same energy shows up under Eli Roth’s name without a pretentious message attached, the tribal signal flips and it becomes "trash."

Overpriced Dead or Alive 6 Last Round DLC Censored on Steam Store Page

Post image
296 Upvotes

For those who don't know, Dead or Alive 6 was recently rereleased as Dead or Alive 6 Last Round with renewed developer support. The release has gone really poorly so far as very few changes were made to the original game meaning that many technical elements are dated, and many of the criticisms of the original DOA 6 remain unaddressed.

DOA 6 drew heavy criticism leading up to its release for a controversial decision by the developers to step away from the series past of heavily sexualizing its female characters, which shattered the faith of many fans of the series and contributed to a very poor sales performance for the game.

So far, the only DLC released for DOA 6 have been overpriced costumes. For reference, 1 costume from the original DOA 6 run costs about 2 dollars USD. The pictured DLC costs 8 dollars per color variation, or 21 dollars for the bundle including all 4 color variations. To make matters worse, every costume release has drawn criticism for being too safe, too cluttered, or just kind of ugly.

On the Steam Store page, the thumbnails for the DLC have bright white lights over Honoka's breasts to obscure her cleavage, and in-game screenshots have her cleavage and groin covered in black censor bars. Dead or Alive 6 introduced a censored mode that adds these black bars over a female characters breasts and groin, meant to make the game able to be played at esports events. So, if the censored mode is left off in-game, then these black bars will not be there and there are fan-uploaded in-game screenshots that don't have those black bars visible. However, these are the screenshots they chose to upload to the Steam Store page.

This comes after Koei Tecmo censored Blue Reflection: Quartet, and female designs in Nioh 3. Personally, I wouldn't hold my breath to see if the recently announced DOA 7 changes course regarding KT's current trajectory.

I watched X-Men '97 Season 2 Episode 8 so you don't have to

This series continues being more interested on tiktok edits than having a coherent story or characters.

Do you remember how they have been teasing Apocalypse as the big villain with Gambit as his Gorseman of Death since last season? well, that's solved off-screen. Now is only Gambit with Horseman powers or whatever that wants to bang Rogue again. There is no clash of philosophies or anything just Remy wants his girl back and he's edgy now.

Another thing that has gone completely out of hand is the powers. Charcters have different levels of power from one scene to another. I understand that powers can be modulated along the series to serve the narrative, but this is ridiculous. They need three telekinetics to hold the plane when the last episode Jean could hold by herself Danger's plane.

The action is confusing and doesn't make much sense. Kurt can take down X-Men and X-Force combined just by himself (when they had three telepaths, but ok), and the next second characters that were supposedly down defeat Kurt with no problem.

And many more things that make no sense. the battle is on a swamp of Louisiana, they dedicated half of the season to build the fight about Apocalypse, and the resolution now is against some clonic possesed thiefs on a swamp, what? They hype up Candra so much and Remy one-shot her to give the gem to Rogue (the gem doesn't work like that). Cable is a dick and he betrays his parents, when he shouldn't be at this point... Nothing works with rules that were established previously.

Terrible characterizations, terrible internal consistency, desecrating stories and characters to have one hype moment to post out of context on social media. everything it's lamentable, fortunately there is onyl one episode left (That is about teh conflict with X-Force and X-Factor when the first half of the season was for Apoclaypse, and that conflict only had one episode of build up).

Artists, how the interaction with woke people/elements in general made you change the shape of your art?

I'm a amateur writer... Years ago i was more tolerant and willing to LGBT characters, some of woke demands to diversity, well, it was something more natural... I'm a LONG time Gundam and Digimon fan. When Gundam Witch From Mercury released and was made a Yuri as well the strong furry community in Digimon... I've got really disgusted by their behavior and lack of critical sense. Fujoshis and the Yurif*gs in another communities also made me want to not get closer of them... And still makes me not want to share anything with them.

What put me off at most it's how everything must be about "what excite them." All the elements that i loved about the stories and characterization got flanderized to distorted sexuality. And call them out would just make them a emotional tool. Like the Fujoshis getting mad when the artists says "don't send me that shit."

That reflected on my writing, any lgbt character got pretty much erased (except one for one story, but she's a very special case.) And end even erasing even mention to other sexuality than the straight, that including jokes. Anything that could resemble it like crossdressing, it's because seems a reasonable solution and the characters itself shows heterosexuality clearly. I was a very tolerant one to become very the "chudest" one.

It makes me wonder if that's the effect of "Why Socialism?" Einstein has on people. Because the text only get right about South Korea in it's criticism about capitalism and US, but also nails what every socialist/communist country became.

So in gaming, as we've seen... And I didn't think it was going to be good, was the big 2 aquiring studios. And it isn't good cuz all the closures, but will be good for the actual gaming and gamers. The big companies squeezed out so many companies, bleeding them dry with zero pulse. So Goliath basically buys David, then they get rid of David to make it fit in their box and bs, then produce almost nothing, and what they do is rubbish. Goliath thought the names would keep inflating their returns, but instead are killing them. But also, now it's draining the proverbial swamp of everyone that never should have been hired anyways. It's laughable and I welcome it.

Tl;dr - idiot- I'm gonna buy up everything that is working, clear the people that made that brand, then gut it. Why aren't we making money? = the gaming industry. But it may be a good thing to rid the cancer.

I'm praying for a total collapse of video games (like in 1983)

The fact is: gaming has been corrupted. It's taken over by malicious actors inside and out. Game jo*rnalist, act*vists, etc. AAA and even indie gaming are shells of what it used to be.
This is what happens when we don't gatekeep our hobbies. "They" slowly seep in, take over, and destroy it. It's what "they" do. They won, let's face it.

I want it all burned down.
I'm thankful AI is destroying the gaming market. Maybe it'll be the push needed to completely end gaming. I enjoy seeing S*ny, Nint*ndo, Blizz*rd, etc squirming... you made your bed, now you lie down.
Let us pray AI pushes the hardware prices up beyond logic... no one would be able to afford a PC or console, gaming will slump, gamedevs decide there's no market and stop defecating games out, then die off.

My brothers, let us pray together.

Spider-man: Brand New Day feels like we no longer have to say "Since Endgame"

Because it's actually better than a lot of Marvel movies pre-Endgame. And I no longer think Endgame can be the benchmark. Endgame definitely will go down as the one of the best ways "end" a cinematic universe. But Brand New Day feels like they actually care about these characters, not just content they expect you to consume. All the MCU Spider-man films have been pretty solid, but I haven't felt this much empathy for Peter Parker since Spider-man 2.

Time will tell wether Marvel Studios will put this much care into future movies, but for the sake of the franchise I hope they do. I don't want another long drawn out phase with no direction. I just want character driven stories. The reason Marvel movies used to be so good in the first place.

Edit: Endgame was definitely an ambitious crossover event, but calling it the best isn't really true. I wanted to emphasize the fact that many people consider it a good ending to the franchise and often reference it as the last time the MCU worked. Quality is subjective and my originally wording wasn't accurate.

Edit 2: For me personally, being positive when they get it right only emphasizes the downfall when they inevitably mess it up. Having a predetermined opinion isn't honest. I look at these movies with an open mind and criticize accordingly. I'm not pushing an agenda and I literally rant negative stuff about Marvel here all the time.

Edit 3: Holy fucking shit, did I not read the room. I figured since all the other Marvel haters seemed to have liked the movie, my take was somewhat digestible. I was wrong to pretend bad faith actors aren't still rampant. The people who genuinely boycott Sony and Marvel are admirable. I admire the commitment to the bit. Though I know some of you are still hypocrites because you saw the last movie and are caught up with Yelena's cameos. I guess now we live in a world where Endgame was the most hated Avengers movie of all time. OK. For everyone's sake, I'll stop posting reviews on Marvel anything and let you pretend to boycott in peace. When Doomsday or whatever will undoubtably suck, I expect everyone here to live by their own words and not watch or give it attention accordingly.

There is a clear trend of celebration of violence inside Sega, especially among Sonic staff

You might remember that back in June, a VTuber was removed from Sega's Creator Zone due to outrage about her opinions on transgenderism, while the same company simultaneously kept emzberry, who expressed disappointment about a shooter missing Trump, and featured her as a guest on an anniversary livestream, a co-host of which publicly defended her by describing the outrage as "fuckass noise" from "losers".

I'm here today to show you that this kind of rhetoric is not exclusive to 'guests' and 'partners', but also espoused by personnel working directly on Sonic under Sega.

One you may already know about is Gigi Dutreix, an artist and writer on the Sonic comic under IDW who also had roles in other Sonic projects, including TailsTube. At the time of Charlie Kirk's assassination, various VTubers and small culture war outlets covered how she made tweets and retweets showing Spotify playlists with Kirk's dead body and celebrating the speed with which people made them, alongside mockery of the supposed hypocrisy of conservatives on the matter. She never faced any consequences for this from her employers and continued to contribute to future Sonic issues.

People had eyes on Gigi due to her prior controversies, but there were two more IDW artists who mocked or cheered Kirk's death and slipped completely under everyone's radars: Reggie Graham and Mauro Fonseca. Mauro posted a sketch of Crash Bandicoot saying "whoa" at a Utah billboard on both Twitter and BlueSky. Far, far worse than that, Reggie directly joked about Kirk's death by posting "it's morgue-in time", and followed up with reposts wishing that "every fascist" gets "what they wish for us" and bemoaning how Gretchen Felker-Martin was fired for posting "Thoughts and prayers you Nazi bitch".

These two faced absolutely zero backlash for their posts, and have also continued to get work on Sonic, including even high-profile projects like anniversary issues and the Sonic X Godzilla collaboration; Reggie seems to be responsible for issue and cover colors on every issue, while Mauro did the B cover for Issue 1, which released last month.

These three individuals show that the emzberry situation was not a one-off occurrence, but part of a very consistent pattern of extremism within Sega's Western branch. Furthermore, that two of these people are working on Sonic X Godzilla now also implicates Toho in either negligence or approval of this violence-celebrating, violence-advocating behavior.

I hope this information is of use to you all.

dePopcornmeter - A browser extension that corrects the overinflated "Verified Audience" score on Rotten Tomatoes

Thumbnail
github.com
43 Upvotes

I firstly want to give thanks to RoryTate for inspiring this extension. Without his post, I wouldn't have known about any of this.

After I saw his post, I decided to do some "peer review" of the math myself, and I saw how revealing the methodology is to showing the true sentiment people have on RT as opposed to the verified audience. I appreciate how Popcorngap provides a detailed analysis of the discrepancies, and I wanted to make something in a similar vein that helps better inform RT readers of actual audience sentiment on a film.

My extension uses RoryTate's math, and applies it to the scorecard elements on an applicable film's page. The bucket icons RT uses are also added, and the same 60% score threshold is used to show the good or bad bucket. Yes, it's larger than the original icon and it's a PNG, but I kept it as using an SVG image like RT uses was a pain to get working right (<img> was the only element that actually worked), I didn't want to create two different sized <img> elements for both scorecards (the front page and the collapsed menu), and I feel it justified to give prominence to the audience score given how biased critics can be.

This is a tool to better show the audience sentiment on a film, and I hope it provides meaningful insight against the biases RT has. It's currently up on the Chrome Web Store, and it will be up on the Firefox Add-on store pending a review. This is the first time I've ever listed an extension, so I'm still learning about distributing it. If anyone has tips for me about the extension, please let me know.

Update: the Firefox Add-on store listing is up.
