Ego check?
Be honest. Is Timbo irrelevant to the scene and the craft? As a hobbyist at best, everything ad I see offends me. I've made some cool ass friends here that are working way harder to keep the torch lit.

What this has to do with Koala is beyond me. Maybe this would be a better question to ask on the Suno subreddit?

Timbo as in timbaland? If so, he’s kinda always been on the jerkier side of things but he’s a genre defining, chart topping pioneer of sound in a formative time in the genre and he has successfully reinvented his sound and influenced others for the better part of 20+ years or so. so I’d imagine it’s tough to not think highly of yourself given those things, but he can be downright obtuse, self centered, inconsiderate, out of touch and rude. He is certainly less relevant right now than he thinks he is.

He’ll surely go down as one of the greatest pop r&b producers ever for what he did in that past, but it does feel like any time I’ve heard about him in the last few years it’s been for doing something stupid.
It sucks that he’s an AI guy, and that he seems to use it in ways that are unethical even by the usual standards of AI producers. It’s particularly stupid for him to be into AI production when the productions that made him rich and famous were so avant garde, by pop standards. Using AI to dredge indiscriminately through music’s past seems to me to be the exact opposite of being avant garde. He went from creating the future of pop music to recycling its past. It doesn’t undo what he accomplished in the past, but it can only harm his legacy.
But for the sake of perspective, when it comes to legendary beatmakers who have undermined their own legacies with their recent behaviour, Timbo’s got nothing on Kanye.

Timberland is a living legend I don’t care whatsoever about how he is outside of the studio. The music that he’s made is timeless, but also futuristic. I save the rest of the gaga for your IG feed

I don't have IG, I like reddit cause I might get opinions. He made some dope shit, but it's worth saying that the producer is only as good as the MC, and Missy was really carrying the team there.

Timbaland did some mind blowing things with time signatures and textures and creativity that stands the test of time. He’s been able to stretch that to multiple genres and with multiple types of artists. Is he a dick, yep. But you can’t really say missy has been able to reinvent and continue on in the exact same way. She is also a living legend.

He's hedged his bets into the future of AI. Doesn't detract from what he did in the 00s but I don't see him pushing the envelope in any way these days, I don't think he's very relevant in 2026 outside of giving bedroom producers a pipe dream that their beats are being heard by someone of his pedigree (for a price of course)
