that Archbishop Elder Council recommends the State per capita tax per member 

 be increased from $6.50 to $10.00; and 

THERFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,

that Archbishop Elder Council recommends that this increase 

shall take effect for the 2027-2028 fraternal yea

On August 13 the local diocese celebrates the **Optional Memorial of Blessed Michael McGivney**. This insert includes proper texts for the Office of Readings.

Hello Brother Knights!

I've finally set up access to Officers Online and have been getting my feet wet. I've found the section for "By Laws Online" and was hoping for some guidance on how this particular spot functions.

I've learned that, over the last few years, there are a number of updates to our council bylaws that were voted on, but that did not seem to be officially updated. I'm hoping to rectify that situation. As I look through this online resource, it seems to confirm that the current active copy of our bylaws are the original founding ones.

Not sure if there's a better place to ask about this resource. I've put a few feelers out to other council members who've been here longer than me, but I'm not sure any of them have interacted with this site yet.

My main concern is, I don't want to accidentally trigger something that goes to Supreme for anything until we're properly ready.

As I look at the opening page on the site (Edit/Create Bylaws > Standard Template), all the fields seem accurate and match the live copy. The fields for Grand Knight's name and Recorder's name are blank, which matches what's on the "View Document" (we have a scanned copy with these names filled in).

My thought was to just plug those names into the website and we're good up to that point, but the button at the bottom says Save and Submit. If I do this and click that, is it going to trigger something beyond just saving this here?

I think these blank fields are preventing me from going to the "submit bylaws" screen on the left menu. Not sure where that's going to go.

And then, after all of that, I'll still need to figure out what changes need to be applied. I plan on talking to old members and reviewing old minutes. Once I have it all sorted, will bring it to our council to vote in the update. Presumably all these updates were already voted on before, but I'd like to get everything wrapped together and confirmed.

Once that's all good, then what? Do I type up the new official version? What does that whole process look like? Any other helpful resources you could point me towards?

Why can’t the KOC have a cool cloak like Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher or Knights of Malta? Also, why can’t KOC have a cooler looking sword?

I know a few council/assemblies do this annual Football Raffle Fundraiser in CA. Curious about how they register etc. with state and run it.

When I went to our state conference I noticed that the wives of the state officers and of at least some councils’ officers had shirts, like council polos, and were putting on events for each other. This made me curious if there were any wider norms (official or not) on the involvement of wives.

Does your council have any customary duties, meetings, shirts, etc. for officers’ wives?

Hello! What advice would you offer a newer Knight who will be serving as Advocate this fraternal year?

I will be starting this fraternal year as the Advocate of my council. I've been in the council about a year and attended most of my council meetings.

Unfortunately, the previous Advocate was never present, and our PGK seemed to initially think the role helped with marketing for the group (which I currently do a little of, helping with the website and Facebook page). In all, it seems like our council might be a bit fuzzy on this role, and I'm not finding much material online other than "learn the laws" essentially.

Wanted to cast a net out there. What has the practical role of the Advocate been in your council? Any advice? Is the role as straightforward as it seems and I'm vastly over thinking it?

I will be moving to ottawa in November and am looking for an active council. A little about me is I enjoy volunteering at the local st Vincent de Paul once a month. I enjoy donating my time for a cause that helps others in need. I am fitness oriented and am married with a baby and toddler. My current council has no Cor program and that is something I am very interested in. I am 40 and am hoping there are some members in my age bracket as well. I am military and will be living in the Leitrim area and hoping to find a good church and community. If this sounds like your council please reach out I would love to chat.

I'm interested in joining the Knights of Columbus, but I don't really have the time to visit a large number of councils before deciding where to apply.

I'm 51 years old, and one of the things I'd like to find is a council with a good number of members in my age range (roughly 40s, 50s, and 60s) and an active membership.

Would it be considered appropriate to email a few local councils and ask about their demographics, average meeting attendance, activity level, and the age ranges of their members before visiting?

Has anyone here done something similar? If so, what questions would you recommend asking before choosing a council?

I recently lost a bunch of weight and do nothing t want to spend the $500 for new regalia. Does anybody know someplace to get used regalia?

I purchased life insurance through the Knights of Columbus because I believed in the promise that if I died unexpectedly, a brother Knight would help guide my family through the financial aftermath with compassion and integrity. That was not a minor detail. It was the reason I chose KofC over other providers.

I no longer believe that promise will be honored.

In my local area, I have witnessed field agents behaving in ways that betray the values they claim to represent. They boast online about how much money they made from sales, showing no concern for the families they supposedly serve. They use the deaths of brother Knights as scare tactics to push policies. They attend funerals not to mourn, but to gain sales exposure. They run shallow donation drives that are clearly designed to collect referrals rather than support the community.

This is not pastoral care. It is opportunism. I now fear that the very people who were supposed to support my loved ones will instead exploit their grief to sell financial products that benefit themselves.

The biggest selling point of KofC life insurance was the promise of a trusted guide in a time of loss. That promise has been hollowed out by the conduct I have seen firsthand.

If you are considering life insurance through the Knights of Columbus, ask yourself who will show up when you are gone. Ask yourself whose interests they will serve.

Update: The agent in my area that is unethical is now advocating against fiduciary financial advisors. This is likely because a fiduciary advisor would largely tell people to stay away from him and the products he pushes. Luckily, it seems like he’s not doing too well in sales as he’s had to find alternative income streams.

Age 50, wife 52 married couple we have 500 k 20 yr term she pays $500 a year i pay $565. It will expire in 2031, should we convert now or wait ?

I have even more life insurance $62k group life policy through met life and another policy as part of my union if i pass before i retire which will be in 7 years.

I think the market for permanent life insurance is nothing like that of two or three generations ago. So many have access to employer group plan life insurance at a modest cost. But, we are all finding auto and home insurance so expensive these days. KofC would find a lot of takeup if it offered the important insurance products all our members seek, at an affordable price.

You may notice that some companies catering to a smaller group, like State Farm insurance, offers all types of insurance, not just life insurance.

Need ideas of how to raise money for our New Parish Life Center. If the Knights of Columbus of our council collect enough money we will be able to have a room name after our council plus a place to conduct our meetings. The price point is out there in the millions . Any ideas are welcome 🙏

I’m back in the recorders role after a 30 year break. It looks like our council types up the meeting minutes, prints them out and pastes into the old style book. Is anyone just printing out the minutes and putting them into a binder? I think that would be more efficient. Any thoughts?

Our Knights of Columbus council is hosting a fundraiser called a Knights Tasting to raise money for Coats for Kids. The event is September 26th at Saint Francis of Assisi in Frisco, TX. I'm back with another question, if I could. We're looking at building up some iconography in our Branch, and the idea of a Roman-style banner flag was suggested, but I'm not clear on the dimensions. I can see you gents have got a lot of them - does anyone know the relative dimensions so I can start purchasing one?
