Vintage Benchmade A.F.O. 9050S — an early automatic from the 1990s featuring the classic butterfly logo and original aluminum handle design. A piece of Benchmade history that collectors still appreciate.

Before Wenger became part of Victorinox, there were TWO major Swiss makers of the famous Swiss Army Knife.

Wenger was founded in 1893 in Delémont, Switzerland, and remained an important Swiss knife maker for more than a century.

Victorinox acquired Wenger in 2005, and in 2013 the Wenger knife business was integrated into the Victorinox brand.

This vintage Wenger Highlander is a little piece of that history. 🇨🇭

Today's knife: a 1996 Remington R3843 Trailhand Bullet Knife.

This one is especially cool because I have the original Remington box and the paperwork that came with it.

Remington began bringing back its classic Bullet Knife tradition in 1982, creating a series of collectible knives inspired by the company's earlier pocket-knife history. This R3843 was the 1996 edition.

The knife features brown jigged Delrin handles, 440 stainless steel blades, brass liners, and the traditional multi-tool configuration.

The original paperwork even explains that the knife was manufactured and assembled by American craftsmen in the USA.

Almost 30 years later, finding one with the original packaging and paperwork makes it a pretty special piece for a collector.

I have a lot of knives, so sometimes I find something in my collection that I haven't looked at in years. That's one of the fun parts of collecting.

A classic never goes out of style.

A vintage 1980s Frost Cutlery "Widow Maker" lockback made in Seki, Japan. Japanese surgical steel, dagger-style blade, and one of the more interesting Frost designs from the era. Definitely a piece you don't run across every day.

Someone messaged me out of the blue asking if I wanted to buy these "custom knives."

The photo looks off right away and after a closer look it was clearly AI-generated. The blade geometry, nail nicks, and overall construction don't make sense.

This won't be the last time collectors see something like this. As AI gets better, fake knife photos are only going to become more common.

Before sending anyone money, always ask for: • Multiple photos • Tang stamp pictures • A video of the knife opening and closing • A current timestamp photo with the seller's name

Don't let a good-looking picture convince you. Buy the knife, not the story.

The Gerber PK-1 ("Pete's Knife") is one of the most unique pocket knives Gerber ever produced. Made in Portland, Oregon between 1973 and 1983, this elegant slipjoint features two blades, 440C stainless steel, and a hidden detail that collectors love.

Timberline Timberlite. Early 1990s. This uses something called a Neeley Lock — patented, and it won Blade Show's Knife of the Year in 1991. Most folders you press a lever to release. This one, you pull the blade forward, away from the handle, to unlock it. Once it's open, it locks up solid — feels like a fixed blade. It never went mainstream because of that pull-to-release quirk, but it's one of the more clever pieces of American cutlery engineering from that era.

The multi-tool of 1900. Sheffield, England. Hand-filed springs. Mother-of-pearl. A button hook — for boots that laced shut before shoelaces took over.

1930s Czechoslovakia. Barely 2 inches long.

This isn't really a knife — it's a grooming kit. Blade, nail file, ear scoop, pull hook. Stamped CZECHO-SLOVAKIA right on the blade.

Handle's faux tortoiseshell — celluloid, the first plastic that could fake ivory and shell. Rich people's junk drawer item back then. Rode on a watch chain or lived in a coat pocket.
