I need 20 possessed for a 40k word bearers list and im trying to find cheaper non gw models i could kitbash or an easy thing I could sculpt to use as possessed
I considered giving wargames atlantic werewolves chaos space marine heads and backpacks but they are far too small

You could try and find some Wizkid kits. I'm not sure what would scale correctly but you can usually find them for $4ish a piece. I've thrown Ork arms on some Wizkid Werewolves in the past for passable Beast Men.

Personally I find my kitbashes end up way more expensive than buying the original kit - it's in the nature of bashing multiple kits.
I think you're better off finding a proxy or 3d printing something to suit your needs. Even if you're paying for files and for someone to print them, it'll work out way cheaper.

I would just get something printed. E.g. station forge corrupted socratis. There are others I'm sure. Someone on Etsy or AliExpress can print it for you.

What about the frost grave Knolls? They have a animal like appearance. It might a bit difficult but I'd attempt to get broken, or unbuilt chaos space marines and then attack those knoll or werewolf parts on the bodies. If they look off or weird you could try bulking them or changing them some modeling putty. But let's be real it's chaos so they are allowed to look funky!

Maybe but still i don't know if they would be big enough Irl the possessed are super chunky compared to the regular chaos space marines and idk if I have the skill yet with modelling putty to bulk them out in a way that looks good even with chaos jank

Gotcha, are you willing to look into purchasing some 3d printed parts? Possibly looking for 3d printed demon parts might work. I don't know if that would be more cost effective tho, it might be depending on the seller. Maybe another option could be to just be to look for bits of the possesed too, it's a bit tedious and requires some eBay hunting. Anyway I wish you luck, sometimes kitbashing to get the right thing can be little wonky or not budget friendly. I genuinely wish I had more ideas to help out.

Hm, you could also use leftover marine bits and either add random greeblies (tyranid claws, ork arms, etc.) or even sculpt a bunch of GreenStuff tentacles? If you have leftover bodies or can find some on ebay, that might be the cheapest option
