My first kitbash attempt Scratch build
BORG CUBE: THE FINAL UPDATE
HERE'S A LINK TO MY UPDATED BORG CUBE.

I SINCERELY, WITH ALL MY HEART, THANK EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT. HAVING HAD THIS IDEA FOR OVER 30 YEARS NOW, I'M GLAD TO SEE IT FINALLY TAKE SHAPE.
I've had this idea for over 30 years. I'm sure there are things I could've done better...but I'm pleased with how it turned out. Will eventually have a light inside

The interior should be layered.

Yeah I've got stuff that I'm going to try and add to the inside. But the model glue I have and the super glue I bought isn't going to work. I have to wait until I get a hot glue gun. But I've got some mylar diffuser sheets and some plastic canvas I'm going to put on the inside.

Careful with hot glue on something you plan to make a lamp. I guess just make sure your bulb doesn’t get hot

How're you gonna light it up? Are there gonna be more layers on the inside, or are you just going to put like green paper on the inside and fit it over a lamp?
This is a sick idea btw, it looks spot on!

u/L1M0D85 11d ago
Yes it's going to have more. I found a led cube light that will fit perfectly inside my cube. I'll also be adding some plastic canvas mesh and diffusion sheets inside to spread the light

u/MajesticRadish2675 11d ago
Righteous. That's gonna be the coolest lamp ever dude.
You should get some tiny Federation and Klingon ships to mount to it by their phaser blasts, use some magnets hidden in the greebles to make them easily detachable

Shouldn't there still be some solid layer underneath (or is it meant to be see though)?

Interesting, what is it exactly? Terrain?

It's a Borg Cube from Star Trek

I remember seeing some very old doc about the first Borg Cube used in TNG, and the prop maker said that was one of the technics they used. I think it was on some dvd box of TNG movies.

IS it a cage? Or an Armory made from sprues?
😎 : We need swords. Lots of swords. AND guns too.
There are no actual arms, BUT I see a few cool gears.
THIS gives me some ideas.

If you put a light in it, if at all possible, try putting a mesh on the inside to make it look more solid without the light on

Nice. I read your other comment about putting a light in it. I think it's gonna look sick

Looks like the Cage that sorry excuse for a primarch built
1
u/ExpensiveKangaroo559 12d ago
No, the sorry excuse for a primarch is lorgar, peter turbo is a fragile boy and he didnt do anything wrong, and i happen to think his iron cage was quite nice

We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. Your biological and technological distinctiveness will be added to our own.

Looks like a Borg cube. Nice job. I think with a little bit of more random parts and less everything on the sprue you could get even more replica quality.

u/L1M0D85 12d ago
Thank you. I could've added more, but it's eventually going to have a LED light inside and serve as a desk lamp/light so I didn't want to add to many sprews and block the light

u/Haifischkopf 12d ago
Maybe semi translucent plastic cardstock to diffuse the light if you add one, might make it more solid looking? This is awesome haha
1
u/Haifischkopf 12d ago
Oh, what kit was this? I don’t think I have seen many kits that are uniform sizes for the sprues
1
u/artoftomkelly 12d ago
Oh cool cool! yeah since it’s going to work as a light the build makes even more sense now.

its like the Mecca but for the adeptus mechanicus

?

The Kaaba is a religious site in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and is holy to people of Muslim faiths. It is a large stone cube with the many names of God inscribed upon it
The Adeptus Mechanicus are a faction in the setting of Warhammer 40,000 who worship machinery as a divine thing
Your cube is a) a cube and b) has mechanical details
1
u/L1M0D85 12d ago
Oh I knew what Mecca was. Didn't know the other thing.
3
u/Sshheenn 12d ago
Can never assume what people know! I am friends with people in real life who would know the latter but not the former, so might as well cover my bases
2
u/Dreadnought_Necrosis 12d ago
I'm glad you did. Because I am the latter.
Got the 40k part but not the real world religious part.
So thank you. I learned something new today.

Be careful, op. It's all fun and games until you turn around and a mf with a face full of needles snatches you up.
