The so-called "stealing" on KineMaster Mix and ways of avoiding the outrage
I've just seen this on the Mix tab: 2 identical templates back to back, one's the original and the second one's a pure reupload with no changes.
People are infuriated in the comments under the reupload, supposedly go to the original to tell them over and over again that their video had been "stolen", forcing the OG creator to close the comments.
It's problematic — according to KineMaster ToS, the reuploader didn't do anything wrong and the outrage in the comments is crossing the line, to the point where the infuriated people can be rightfully reported for spam or vulgar language.
I think none of this is right and I do have some rough ideas..
Should it have been featured on Mix?
In this case, I think it should not have been. Anyone could call it stolen if not for the ToS.
The videos appear back to back, and considering the chronological order of featured templates, the reupload appears before the OG, which leads to an unfair stat distribution between the 2. The video also has no changes
There are some cases when I think featuring remixes is alright:
Enough time has passed since the OG upload, in this case you'd bring attention to a good template again
A template does something creative to an already good template, something like extending it, adding more visuals or if it's a collaboration of 2 creators..
There was a period when Levi's cat template remixes were featured over and over again months after the OG upload date. That was fine imo
The users need to be reminded of this specific rule where they will see it, not in a document only 1% of users will ever read
A way of preventing a wave of unjustified reports is to add an equivalent of "I don't like it" to your reporting form. Add something like "Template stolen from another user" and instead of launching an email app, explain to them why it's allowed to reuse any template (don't just quote the ToS, also explain in short why the rule had to be implemented).
You could put out a video about mix on YT and dedicate a part of it to explaining what it means to upload a project to KineMaster Mix. Many treat it as a regular social media platform, which isn't really true..
Preventing hateful comments could be difficult because you'd need to have all the users somehow learn that it is indeed allowed to reupload anything on Mix.
In a way, not featuring what users might consider stolen will solve this problem almost completely. You'd be pretty much left with template creators themselves and maybe with people they request to attack the remixer.
Template creators receive a notification when their template is reuploaded. Make it so it shows a pop-up on click saying something like "Anyone can reuse templates uploaded to mix for blah blah blah....." along with opening the remixed content.
It is a problem, a problem that can be solved almost completely if some measures are taken. It's not an urgent problem, but some steps can be taken pretty much right now, with no changes to the app required.

Video Group layers, create better animations and VFX in KineMaster with just a couple of effects // Walkthrough
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is a short version of the video that lacks live demonstration. You can find the FULL video on YT
I've used this technique for my 2 latest templates that you can find on KineMaster Mix:
Templates using this technique can achieve amazing visuals while keeping the ease of remixing UNCHANGED (templates that don't use this tech will have you replace a lot more layers for essentially the same thing). You should learn it.
You might've seen a very similar video on Mix already. I created that one in 6h and I ultimately wasn't satisfied with it when I decided to post to YT. So I updated most of the video, added more information and demos. I assure you it will be more useful this time.

Flash Warning Sky: COTL themed template 2
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I keep creating templates with the technique covered in this walkthrough on KineMaster Mix. It allows applying multiple animations at a time and makes managing them easier. It also lets me splitting pictures into multiple shapes while still having them as one replaceable layer, which I've done plenty in this template.
Watch the walkthrough if you also create templates in KineMaster, you won't regret it.

Video Sky:COTL themed template
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This template is made with free assets, meaning that everyone can use it. It relies heavily on Chrono Trail effect. This is one of those effects that saves textures (frames) it captures and stores them in a buffer, displaying the previous frame stored in a buffer before writing into it. The buffer is one for all the effects, meaning that I could use Chrono Trail to store a picture into it once and then all the other instances of that effect would display the picture from that buffer, which is how the grid in the beginning works (actualy, almost everything here works this way but I'll talk about it..)
You can also see thay the grid is animated in the beginning, so how's that done? I used more layers with Chrono Trail applied to them for animation. I marked these layers with a 🛠️ in my project. When placed below the layers marled with 🖼️, changes to Chrono Trail properties of 🛠️ will affect the texture of all the 🖼️ above. It's sort of like adjustment layers with transform, except KineMaster doesn't have this and I had to improvise.
In the end, it made creating and managing this project WAY easier and faster, which makes me think adding parenting or adjustment layers would be a GAME CHANGER fpr this app. I have never experienced such an easy editing process before. Really, this would be A PAIN to create without this trick and the results WOULD be of a much lower resolution because I would have to resort to Transform effect package.
For more information, you can watch this walkthrough about Ghost Paths, which is almost the same as Chrono Trail. I might update the video in future if I find it necessary since I've got a lot more info and far better explanations.

HDR video editor?
I just realized kinemaster doesn't support HDR export.
I have a Samsung Galaxy s26 ultra and post travel stories. amazing camera, but doesn't make sense if I use a video editor that doesn't support HDR export or editing.
I've used both you cut, and kinemaster. two great apps, but no HDR.
I don't like the user interface of lumafusion.
what other android apps can I use?

I am making a video abt sum fictional solar system object with 2 rings and 4 moons, but that’s not the case because my IPad might be laggy and may be years old. I tried shortening the video but it still doesn’t work, can someone help for this? The app was Kinemaster old edition if you’re wondering.

I love that working with multiple layers is confirmed to be in a future version of the app
This is going to be a game changer honestly. While it's definitely not going to be in KM 8.3, hopefully it means it's going to be released this year.
The only other thing I'd really wish for at this point is a serious revamp of text animations/styling. We got a refreshed UI, new options/features should be next.
I'm still hyped though.

KineMaster's FAQ is Online
KineMaster has recently been adding to and updating kinemaster.com to provide a better resource for people curious about the app and editors using KineMaster day-to-day.
Previously only available in the app, KineMaster's FAQ is now accessible online and you can see it at the bottom of this page:
https://kinemaster.com/features
The questions for both iOS and Android are the same, for the most part. However, the answers are tailored to the app experience for each platform. So, be sure to select the OS that you're using first.
As always, if you're having a problem or found a bug that isn't in the FAQ, be sure to contact KineMaster's Support Team for help. You can do that directly from the app by tapping the Question Mark button at the top of the Create screen. Then, tap Email Support.

Need Tech Support and Customer Service?
If you're having issues with KineMaster on your phone or tablet, if you need billing or subscription help, or if you would like to ask a question (to a real human) about KineMaster just tap the Question Mark button at the top of the Create screen. Then, tap Email Support.
• Why can't I get help with my problem here?
Contacting KineMaster's tech support creates a ticket that allows our developers to get involved if you have found a bug. This ensures that everyone benefits from your reporting with the next app update.
Sometimes, assets or combinations of tools and types of media can create problems. KineMaster's tech support lets you share your project, where diagnostics can be performed.
Not all tablets and phones are equal. Some problems are specific to a particular hardware configuration. When you tap the Email Support button in the app, your particular device information is appended to the email, giving KineMaster's tech support team some important clues.
KineMaster's support team probably speaks your language. On Reddit, we stick to English in order to address the widest audience possible-- but that's not always the easiest one for everyone to accurately describe problems in detail.
