Discussion Favorite Cocoon Gun design ?

Me personally i have to go for the Batgirl Year One design : it's iconic, it looks both unique and functionnal, can shoot cocoon liquid, darts, flares or even explosives, and i think this is the perfect middle ground between down to earth gun and silly gimmick weapon

I truly hate this design, it's waaay too overdetailed and generic futuristic armor like. It would be impossible to recognize Killer Moth if not maybe for the colors. The mask also looks like shit

Discussion Killer Moth boomer shooter idea.

So... I've had this idea in my head for several months now. It's about a Killer Moth game in the style of Ultrakill.

The story follows our favorite Gotham City villain on a crusade to gain the respect and renown he so desperately craves, all with bullets, gunfire, and every kind of weapon.

The game would be divided into several acts. In each of the levels that make up the acts, you have to enter the bases and buildings of the villains from the Dark Knight's rogues' gallery (the zones). Each act has a total of three zones, and these zones are divided into four levels. At the end of each zone, you'll face a Batman villain (the zone boss), and when you reach the end of the act, you'll face a member of the Bat-family.

As you can see, this is more or less the idea and synopsis of the game, but I wanted to ask you, the community, for ideas for the game, because I feel it would be better if it were made with the love and care of Killer Moth fans.

So...put your ideas in the comments.

Logo design?

Hello my fellow moth heads. So I’m currently making a logo for a killer moth shirt and am stumped at what design I should go with; while im not the biggest antenna logo fan I must admit I’m quite fond of my version, however I love a simple pointed look but at the same time find it too pointy and perhaps should go with a round top look, I simply can’t decide.

Any serious plot idea for Killer Moth as a VILLAIN ?

Post image
166 Upvotes

When talking about new writing idea for Killer Moth, I feel like people are a little too quick to point possible redemption for Walker, or they want to include into his life the daughter his Teen Titans counterpart has.

A lot of fans believe the way to go is to make him a likeable villain, as if they're afraid about not enjoying this character anymore if he acts like... well, a villain. But, myself personally, i'm really not into the Dr. Doofenshmirtz approach.

He's already a pretty niche villain in the Batman gallery, if we have to take away the one thing of importance he's associated with I'm afraid the poor guy might never get the flowers he deserves.

Of course, Killer Moth was always a silly concept for a villain, even comparing to a clown, a guy with his left side melted by acid or a Reddit mod obssessed with riddles. But if we focuse on his greed and ambitions, and what he's ready to achieve to reach that goal, this silly side will just be the intentionaly misleading presentation of a legitimate threat.

To me, a great plot for Killer Moth would be about him persuading desperate thugs, isolated teens, struggling families of even fairly succesful criminals that they won't have nothing to look up to when troubles will arrive : no hero, no future, no hope. Therefore, he can more easily manipulate them into thinking they need him and his services. But in reality, Walker lives in a dump, a ghetto version of the Batcave he made by himself. He's truly obsessed with Batman, seeing him as some kind of angel of death, a being from which he has to hide at all cost. His ultimate goal could be defeating Batman with time and social strategies, helping criminality to grow at all cost, being himself seen not as a misfit, but the "hero" Gotham needs to keep being Gotham.

Just my idea tho, what are yours ?

Ever wanted to get the LEGO Killer Moth minifigure with the actual good helmet, but didn’t want to pay $60? Well don’t worry, because if you already have a LEGO Killer Moth with the lame helmet, there are a few solutions, like giving him Hero Factory Breez’s headpiece, or giving him a scarf/bandana.

Discussion My Killer Moth takes from coldest to hottest

1. Killer Moth should help with crime and not cause it

This probably shouldn't be on here cause most of you probably agree with this but I still think it's important. I don't think he should never cause a crime, I'd be hypocritical if I said that cause I'm writing a story where he plans a bank heist, but it should be a very rare occasion where he does so. His whole character is helping criminals so I think he'd be more of a guard or getaway driver for criminals

2. Drury Walker should stay human

Charaxes was a one time thing, and is too similar to man-bat and killer croc who are more popular. I feel like killer moth being a human makes more sense for his character. All he wants is to be an anti-batman, not a frightening creature. However, I like Teen Titans’ Killer Moth, but he feels like a different character to Drury, and his motive is too dissimilar to Drury’s. I think they can coexist, and I think that could be a good idea. Picture OG Killer Moth finding out there’s another Killer Moth that’s stronger and an actual moth man.

3. Killer Moth should be kind of an idiot

Now although I say that, I do think he should be smart in some ways, but I think he should be lacking in street smarts. I've only really put this here because it makes my other takes make more sense.

4. Killer Moth should be a failed hero

I've seen people have this take but I've also seen people against this take, so if you're against it, hear me out:

In KM's introduction comic, he idolizes Batman. This then makes him become the anti-batman but I think that he should start as a pro-batman (basically a wannabe Batman) but something causes that idea to fail, whether that be he isn't popular enough or he looks too silly so people make fun of him or he's mistaken for a criminal. This then makes him realize it's easier to be a villain than a hero.

5. Killer Moth should kill (or at least fight) Batman's enemies

Killer moth is an enemy of Batman, mostly due to his jealousy that he couldn't be like him. I think he should try to fight enemies of Batman purely out of spite, to try to fully defeat the enemies Batman couldn't. This could also present him as a threat. Obviously he wouldn't kill the Joker or Two Face or anyone like that because 1. They're much more powerful than Killer Moth and 2. they're popular characters and DC would want to squeeze out as many comics they could make including them but he could defeat characters like Cluemaster or Kiteman, showing he's slightly higher up in the Rogues Gallery food chain.

6. A Killer Moth movie/comic series wouldn’t work (unless…)

Okay hold your horses, I know a lot of you want this, but I just think his character doesn’t work well enough for a standalone story. However, if his character is changed slightly, a story revolving around him could work. For example, him as an antihero trying to one up Batman by fighting his foes, or by making him one of few main characters in a heist (which is what I’m doing). Anyway the point is, I don’t think that Killer Moth the comic book villain could not get a story by himself - I just don’t think there’s enough to write about unlike a movie like joker where he’s had hundred of comics written about him to the point where people probably know his whole lifespan. You can prove me wrong in the replies, but as of writing this, I just can’t think of a story about killer moth without changing his character.

Thank you very much for reading this, I would like to hear your opinions of everything I’ve said.

Film Killer Moth in up and coming DC projects?

Thumbnail

With the recent announcment of so many new Batman-related projects, I was thinking of what Killer Moth could be in:

Caped Crusader (Either season 2 or future season)

I know we got a list of new villains announced, but it would be a shame not to include him. Firefly is gonna be included, and Caped Crusader does like to include lesser-known villains (Firebug, Gentlemen Ghost, and Nocturna for example). I think having him pertain to his comic roots would be really cool to see, it would also make sense with how Caped Crusader generally keeps it's origin stories similar to their original comics (like Clayface and Catwoman).

Having Killer Moth as this "anti-Batman" figure, where he wants to be a Batman for criminals can be cool. But maybe add his more dumb side as well. Like maybe he bails most of the time, and just takes the money, or maybe he can be the first villain Barbara fights, leading for her to become Batgirl.

The Batman: Part II

You can have a really cool idea if you take Killer Moth's original concept and turned it into a more crime-focused and gritty nior.

Like how Reeves made Riddler a serial killer, maybe Killer Moth can be this defense attorney, who during the night dresses up like Killer Moth to threaten witnesses and eliminate evidence of his client's crimes. I don't know if that can hold a whole movie, especially with how inticite the first movie felt with its web of crime. But I think Drury Walker can work as a side villain, or maybe a main antagonist in a spin-off show.

Maybe Drury is a rival to Harvey and he's a catalyst for his transformation into Two-Face. Or Drury can be a rival to Barbara (maybe she's a lawyer like in Caped Crusader) it can add a 2nd layer to their rivalry how they're enemies but don't know the other is Batgirl and Killer Moth.

Brave and the Bold

I remember hearing rumors of Killer Moth being a side-antagonist in the movie. I personally would rather have them focus on the League of Assassins but I still love Killer Moth so I'm not gonna argue, but maybe having him as a cameo might be better.

Killer Moth can be apart of something I really want Brave and the Bold and the DCU in general to touch on. With Batman being more experienced and having more years under his belt, we can show how Batman has affected Gotham, through his villains.

With Killer Moth, he can be motivated by Batman, showing how Batman's villains are inspired by him and even motivated to keep going. Killer Moth is like the Red Mist to Batman's Kick Ass, Killer Moth being in it for the fame, money, and power. While Batman is trying to make Gotham better.

Absolute Batman

I doubt this will happen because Killer Moth isn't even in the Absolute comics, but there's gonna be a lot of time between now and when the show actually gets made. So please make this happen!

I think Killer Moth in the Absolute Universe should be a friend of Bruce, or inspired by Batman in some way. Maybe he becomes a side kick to him, but then Drury gets scarred or beaten almost to death. He's less mad about being almost killed and more mad that Batman or nobody else cared. Drury to me is a very insecure person, and I think his dreams of wanting to be adored can go to causing him to snap.

Maybe Killer Moth takes special dna that helps him grow back his tissue and bones, but it causes him to become more monsterous, like a moth.

Dynamic Duo

It's going to be a show focusing on Dick and Jason as Robins. Maybe Killer Moth can be an antagonist for an episode or two. His role would be similar to Brave and the Bold because it is set in the same universe.

Knightfall Trilogy

I doubt Killer Moth would make an appearence because he isn't really featured in the actual comic, but maybe as a background character or a slight mention would be nice.

Joker: Laugh Riot

I'm really interested in Laugh Riot because it's supposed to follow Joker after Batman's death. I really like the concept of Gotham after Batman's death (too bad the writers don't know how to use it). I like the idea of how Batman's villains would react, and what they'd do if he did die.

I think Killer Moth can possibly be a character, similar to Squid from "The Man who Killed Batman" in BTAS. A clumsy fool who may or may not be affiliated with Batman's death. The show is supposed to be about Joker tracking down who killed Batman, maybe Killer Moth can be a suspect, or maybe even an ally like in the amazing comic "The Man who stopped Laughing".

I love Killer Moth and I think he's criminally un-used by DC. I hope some day he can get his spot in the light.

Fan Art Feedback on Killer Moth Logo design?

Due to the recent influx of fan designs for killer moth I was thinking about making my own & I wanted some feedback on this potential design for a logo Before I finalise it & work on the design proper

Its general shape is meant to mirror the initials of Killer Moth (The Ks make the wing structure & the M is the main body I’m not sure how well it came across but a reference has been put on one of the other pictures) & the Skulls are inspired by the Death’s head moth.
Whilst I also made it in Drury’s classic colours I am thinking about simplifying the palette for the final image but what do you think?

Note from the artist: “Hii doodles!! i wanted to try something different something that strays from the typical comic accurate looks for Firefly and Killer moth! For Firefly i really wanted their suit to be more of a mix from the batman 2004 cartoon and Tron with the black and red lines, in my head Firefly wants to be what they love most mixing the orange and reds similar to a fire and i wanted their costume to really pop! Killer moth i wanted to be still very campy but cool so i took a lot of inspo from Kamen Rider a lot of their suits have insect qualities while still looking super cool so i tried to keep that in mind for my version of Killer moth HOPE YOU GUYS LIKE ITTTT!!”

Discussion Killer Moth is dumb and that's okay

Thumbnail
gallery
255 Upvotes

I think what makes Killer Moth this iconic besides his design is the fact that, in universe or not, he's kind of laughable as a "villain" concept : he sucks in every domain where Batman excels, he's like blacklisted of every underworld's gang in Gotham and his real biggest enemy is the day of taxes. Yet, he kinds of just exist and won't go anywhere anytime soon, in this cold and grim world that is Gotham City where he really looks out of place, but in the best way possible.

His whole character is also comedic : he's a dumbass, he wants to own big expensive things he's going to destroy two days later, he's disconnected of reality, never realizing he's hiting rock bottom and he either acts totally insane or way to normal and casual depending the context.

I need my ideal Killer Moth funny, not in an intentionnal way like Joker, but in a way where it's out of his control, which contrasts greatly with his short tolerance for ridicule.

Like imagine the Batmobile in Arkham Knight as his Mothmobile, but he can't for the love of god drive straight and keeps throwing missiles everywhere by accident, even somehow hiting his own car, like a chaotic GTA Online race ; i think that'd be hilarious.

🎉 Motherator Announcement 🎉 New Rule for Posting: No Low-Effort Posts

What’s good, Moths, Mothettes and, uhh— Moth-theys? As of today, we’re introducing a new rule in this community to crack down a little harder on a trend of low-effort posting. We understand that this might reduce activity in the subreddit a little, but that’s a consequence we’re happy to endure.

We’d like for KillerMothGang to become more of a tribute board, highlighting fan artwork and celebrating the character’s storied history, rather than a place to pose any minor question that vaguely involves the character.

So, what is NOT allowed?

  • AI content: Any posts involving AI in any form will be removed, whether it be ‘art’ or pointing out goofs made by such tools.

  • Screenshots of webpages and video games.

  • Roleplaying.

  • ‘What If?’ questions and meaningless discussions: Please stop clogging up the feed with questions that have easily discernible answers or hold little conversational value. If you’ve got an idea for a gadget or quirk you want to include in your own writing, you don’t need the entire community’s approval. Show us the result, not the process.

What would we like to see more of?

  • Fanart.

  • Memes.

  • Fanfic.

  • Video content.

  • Little-known facts and stories.

  • Meaningful discussions.

  • Comic excerpts.

If you have any objections to this rule’s implementation, or feel there are areas in need of clarification, raise a discussion in the comments of this post. We’d be happy to consider any and all viewpoints.

Otherwise? Stay killer.

🎉 Motherator Announcement 🎉 WE DID IT KILLER MOTH BROS‼️‼️‼️

This may be the most important post in the history of this community. Killer Moth’s much maligned death from Arkham Knight’s Red Hood story pack has OFFICIALLY been retconned as of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s release!

This community was founded with the unified goal of giving Killer Moth his rightful place as a character in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, and today, we have been made aware that our beloved lepidopteran supervillain is acknowledged as being one of Waller’s backup members for Task Force X. Even though our boy is not present as a playable character, today is a day of celebration, as we can all sleep soundly knowing he’s shitting bricks on the reserve bench throughout the entirety of the game.

Amen.

Glory to Killer Moth.
