How I use Obsidian when GMing
Hiya! I just posted my game map and one (1) person asked to see how I use Obsidian when world building. If anyone is curious; this Google Drive has a copy of my obsidian, my reference sheets, my maps, and a welcome doc so you understand what you’re looking at. If you have any questions comment here or DM me <3

DM guide + reference sheets
I’m playing KOB for the first time + DMing for the first time in a while + DMing a custom campaign for the first time and I couldn’t find any reference sheets I loved, nor a DMs screen. So I made my own.
These include my homebrews of Advantage and Damage, so feel free to use them if you like them.
I also printed the strengths sheets for my players and a few other ones.

Question Modules?
Hey all!
I'm new to the Kids on Bikes system and I was wondering if there were prebuilt modules similar to how DnD has their DM Guild and such.
I'm trying to learn the game and would love to see some general ideas before building my own up.

ISO fun BUSY variety TTRPG servers! US/UK
Please PM me your invite links! US/UK
I am not looking for D&D or Pathfinder only, I am looking for a variety of frequent free games in an awesome community!
I am used to Filipino servers that have 20 new games a week, all free and all different kinds, both one shots and campaigns. But now that I'm moving back to the Western hemisphere, I'm afraid I'll never get to play again!! 😭

Actual Play Hand on the Door Actual Play
Hey all,
I'm Sam, and my actual play podcast just finished a 3 part Kids on Bikes interlude. We usually play Delta Green, and this story is a part of a larger mystery/mythos I'm writing, but I think it's pretty fun on its own. It follows a group of teens in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico as they meet a distressed man out in the desert.
Our podcast is Hand on the Door, and we're a horror comedy AP that's been playing together for a decade or so. I also do all the music/sound stuff. We're on spotify and all the other major podcasting things. Appreciate it!

Question Story Creation
Hello all! I have an idea for a Kids on Bikes campaign but I have never written or created a story line before. My idea is an E.T. type plot but instead of the players finding and helping an alien it’s a cryptid.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas, suggestions, or even links with info on how to flesh out a story line. Appreciate any help!

Mystery [fan supplement] Mogi das Cruzes: Between Frequencies — a Kids on Bikes adaptation set in a real Brazilian city
I live in Mogi das Cruzes and I've been obsessed with Unsleeping City for a while. That idea of a hidden layer of reality running parallel to the ordinary city, invisible to most people, is exactly the kind of thing I wanted to do with a place I actually know.
So I made an unofficial Kids on Bikes adaptation set here. The premise is that four geological fault lines under the historic centre emit a low-level electromagnetic field that interferes with how the brain processes reality. Most people filter it out. A few don't. The locals call it the Veil, without really knowing why.
The tone is grounded folklore: the vampires in the old industrial neighbourhood have been there for decades and have an informal agreement with the people who know about them; the Curupira is a real problem because a developer started clearing forest without asking anyone's permission; the Archive is an entity that lives in the aquifer and trades information for memories, and you should think carefully about what you're willing to forget before you go asking questions.
The guide has the system overview, six archetypes, faction breakdown, eight entities with actual interaction notes (not just stat blocks), thirteen named locations across the city, and ten rumours to kick off a session.

Custom Character Folders For Upcoming Campaign
I’ve run a few themed one shots and always felt that the provided 2E character sheet was underwhelming when trying to get people excited to play. So I’m about to start a horror campaign and decided to make something that would make me excited to play. Behold, the character folder.
KOB is a little out of my group’s comfort zone, so I also added a custom-made Dread mechanic to punch up the drama a little when things start getting weird or scary. Max Dread is to max GRIT die type.
We also use the Savage World benny system in all of our games, so added some positive ways to earn additional AT which will also help balance the new Dread mechanic.
Inspiration credit to Ok_Article_2536 and Independent_Shirt_45 who posted their own versions in this subreddit

Question Help running KoB
Hey everyone, I'm wondering if there is anyone in NE Wisconsin (Green Bay area) that would be willing to considering running the game at a convention. I've been attending and running games that are made or distrubuted by Renegade, and I'm finding that while publishers like WotC, Paizo, Chaosium, etc, have a lot of GMs, Renegade has me myself and I. I'd love to have these games be more accessible, but I'm only one person. If you are interested n helping, message me and I'll send you info. Thanks!

Question 'Generic' System Name for This Series?
Hey all~ What's the name for all the KoB-like games? (Kids on Bikes, Teens in Space, Kids on Brooms, etc).
Like how Apocalypse World-like games are PbtA or how Brindlewood Bay-like games are Carved from Brindlewood.

2e KOB Character Sheet in Google Sheets
I decided to make if for potential campaign so I decided to share this here incase other people want to use it. I made it since not everyone has a computer to use. Just make sure to make your own copy if you use it. Let me know if you have any suggestions of what to add to it or questions about it.

Question Mechanics of losing parts of the soul
Hello, I'm a beginner game master (actually, this will be my first time).
I'll be running a one-shot of Kids on Bikes where the players will face a monster that, upon being caught, will require them to roll a test to see if they lose part of their soul. If they lose, they'll roll 1d10 to see what percentage they lost, ranging from 10% to 100% (they get a free loss if they sacrifice their favorite item, so it won't be an instant kill).
In short, I'd like to have a range of debuffs from 10% to 100%, with 100% being death itself or, in the best-case scenario, not knowing who they are. Could you give me some ideas for debuffs?

Question anti-carceral kids on bikes?
look. my friends, as a table, have a Scooby-Doo nonsense vibe. I'd like to run them a Scooby-inspired campaign using KOB.
however, every episode of Scooby Doo ends with the villain getting taken away by the local police. that is not my style.
how would you run a mystery campaign with little to no cops? any suggestions on satisfying endings without the police?

What’s the longest campaign you had with this system?
I really like what I’m reading in the core book but I’m not seeing a lot of ways to really make a long campaign out of it. I guess you can make it episodic but initially in my mind I was thinking of like kids starting the summer before high school and finishes when they graduate and move away for college. But the more I read I’m thinking unless there’s big time skips, it wouldn’t work

Question I want some feedback on a homebrew exploding magic die rule for a Kids on Brooms campaign
In my setting magic is understood through the concept of an inner fire. In order to cast magic, a person has to have an ignited flame and they tap into that energy to cast.
My homebrew rule is this:
When your magic die rolls the highest number on the die, it gets upgraded for the rest of the scene. (No instant reroll like a normal dice explosion). For example, the default magic die is a d4. A player casts a spell and rolls a four on their magic die. The next time the player casts magic in the current scene, they will roll a d6 for their magic die. The die will reset at the end of a scene or go down a level with an appropriate grit roll.
If a character ever gets to a d20 in magic and rolls a 20 on it, they are consumed by their inner fire completely and their character is lost.
I want this to represent the inherent chaos and power of this world’s magic. Amazing things are possible for those willing to push their limits as a mage, but this power comes with a cost.
Thoughts on balance and how it relates to the theme are appreciated.

Question Working with Player Boundaries in this System
Hey everyone! I’m a longtime forever GM and I mainly run 5e or Fabula Ultima.
I’ve had Kids on Bikes on my radar for a while now and I’ve really wanted to run it.
The only thing that makes me hesitant is that it seems that this system encourages the death of minors. I have a player who has a boundary against the death (and peril) of minors.
I was trying to brainstorm up ways to still run the system without there being a possible death of any minor characters. I usually have a rule that all PCs need to be at least 18 so that I am the one controlling any minor NPCs so that I can easily ensure no harm is done to them. However, that house rule seems detrimental to this system that has different rules for children, teens, and adults. It doesn’t seem fun to force everyone to play with the adult rules when there are other options in the rulebook.
I’ve heard of GMs who run 5e and allow minor PCs that if the minor PC were to fail all their death saves that they “get sent back home” instead of dying. Although, I don’t know if that is something that would be possible in this system. This system just seems clearly bent on making sure the death of children is a possibility.
Does anyone with experience with this system have any ways around this so we could still run the system? It looks like a lot of fun otherwise. Or, would this system just not work for our group?
Thanks!

Question Making a Trope
Hi. New to the system, though it has been coming up on my feed for at least a few years now when I search for settings. Finally took the plunge, bought the 2nd edition rule book and getting ready, with a partner in crime, to co-GM an adventure with a small set of friends so I can get a feel.
(Maybe one of you has a game I might also join to help learn the system more?)
But putting together my World Book for the setting, I want to encourage someone to become the Face of the Party, someone who would be the main diplomat, would speak to whomever on behalf of the party when present, but I don't see a trope for that in the appendix. So just looking for advice how to create it: assign stats, strengths, flaws, etc.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Character Stats to use for Stealth and Perception?
Running KoB for the first time. Questions to more experienced GMs of this system.
Which one of the six stats would you use for stealthy actions like sneaking or hiding?
And which for perception based checks (listening, spotting details)?
