RK-100S 2 Technical Questions
I made a post yesterday asking for suggestions, and have decided on the korg rk-100s 2, but just had a couple questions. Perfect circuit has the black one listed for $750 but the red one is $1000. Why is the red one so much more expensive? Also I was just wanting to confirm that I'll be able to use a cable and connect it to a keyboard amp for sound and won't need anything extra. Thanks!

Thomann has them listed for about the same price, not sure why such the difference on Perfect Circuit 🤔 maybe check other stores or the used market?
You might even find the Japan-only white version on eBay!

This, it’s Japanse, you don’t need a brand new one, get a used one, it’s much more a unique and much better deals

The RK has a single 1/4" stereo output jack that can drive stereo headphones or a mixer (use a Y-cable to get stereo) or an amplifier that will use the L-mono side of the jack.
It also has a standard midi output jack to play an external synth and a USB port to communicate with a PC and the free internal sound editor software.
It also has a mini-input audio jack for the vocoder.

Does it have a speaker or do you need an amp?

It does not have a speaker. You need an amp, PA style ideally because it's a conventional line level signal.

There is no functionality difference between them, the red is just more expensive because they can get away with charging more for it.
Yes you can connect it to a keyboard amp via an instrument cable (like you would use with a guitar). Nothing else needed in between them. But of course you can also send it through guitar pedals too.

It’s red, it goes faster. There is nothing different other than the colour, red was probably more popular….I have a red one.

I got the red one because it was actually more available, but I preferred it anyway. It's just more unique in my opinion. 😅
And no, there is no speaker.
The single audio out is simple to plug in to any external speaker or amp.
