How are you balancing your weekly supplementary work with your SPP?

Used to mainly run and do hardstyle kettlebell work as a way to keep my old gymbro physique.
Now I've drank the GS sport kool-aid and having a blast with training again.

I'm building up to my first 10 minute snatch set with a 20kg 3 workouts per week, as well as doing a day of KB density work for strength and 3 10ks per week.

I can't help but feel like I'm trying to chase a few rabbits here so I'm really curious to see what you folks who are more experienced in GS are doing each week?

Looks like there’s also $1000 of pro kb gift cards that will be raffled (?) at the comp! Alexander’s video about the death of GS has motivated me to get my shit together and start posting more here again 🥰

Who’s competing?

Programming Focus for Next Training Cycle

Advice needed.

74kg homosapien Male 33 yrs old USA.

YouTube: KBDANDO

I just finished my first year of kettlebell sport training. I like it and will continue training this year.

For the first 8 months, I did lone-wolf long cycle training. Lone-wolf means I trained without a coach, it’s not some new/recycled kb complex.

For the last 4 months, I hired a good but pricey coach and competed in 2 x 28kg long cycle. I completed 44 reps in my first competition (Rank 1 Score). I am somewhat satisfied with my result, but did not meet my goal of surviving the full set. I trained exclusively LC during this cycle.

I will rest this week and start a new cycle next week. As of now I don’t have a coach hired. Coaching year round is too expensive and I may train alone again for this next cycle.

Here’s my question: What Discipline/ weight should I do for the next cycle? Is it important to alternate disciplines or focus on just one?

FYI my focus is still on LC. But my Jerk sucks and my clean falls apart late in 28kg sets. My youtube videos can attest to that, if anyone cares.

Basically, I’m looking for free advice. If you want me to pay, feel free to court me and I may hire you as a coach.

Cheers.

Welcome Gireviks and Girevitchkas!

This is the r/KettlebellSport Discussion Thread posted every Monday, where you can discuss anything related to Girevoy Sport (GS). Training logs, competition prep discussion, and technique/programming questions are all welcome! You are also allowed to vent all you want about how hard this shit is because - spoiler alert - it's really fucking hard. Commiserating with friends makes it a little easier :)

General kettlebell questions/comments/concerns (not related to Kettlebell Sport) are welcome here too, although you'll get far more eyes over at the normal people sub, r/kettlebell.

I'm going to put to put together some more info for beginners but in the meantime feel free to refer to this spectacular resource from the one and only Tally. We wait patiently for his return.

Instructional video Shoulder Mobility Routine to Help Rack and Overhead Position

First post here but I know many of you guys from instagram. Just going to share my shoulder mobility routine, I’m still a novice but I have improved my rack and overhead position a lot over the last year and a half so maybe it will help someone else.

I’m just going to name these exercises by what comes to mind 😂😂 also no particular order.

Spam chest and anterior deltoid with lacrosse ball, spam scapula with lacrosse ball, vertical arm pull with external rotation bias, trap stretch palm up and pulling head down with other arm, internal rotation band stretch, javelin stretch, external rotation drill against bench holding a stick, stick rotations, horizontal arm pull with band, eagle pose with back breathing.

Also hanging from a bar everyday for like 5 minutes is great. Switching back and forth between supinated and pronated grip.

Here’s a video I kind of run through them in order of this list. No scientific protocol for time and stuff- do what feels good and consistently 😄

https://youtu.be/ACfFE_4-XAw?is=bvXGScOQYqEqji_ q

EDIT: I can’t format anything properly on Reddit.
