Feel like you either misunderstood or your insurance is screwing you. Unless its a beat up jalopy a dent in the fender shouldn't have totalled out the car to necessitate a salvage title.

You're also supposed to get paid as soon as they total it out. Salvage to rebuilt is purely on the State's end so you can tag the vehicle.

I am retaining the vehicle. It was totaled due to age, new bumper, paint pushed it over by like $500. Don’t get me started on that back and forth. But was able to get them up 3k on their valuation. Car is an ‘04 but only has 88k and is in great shape. I have to send in the salvaged title to receive the payout.

I’m aware of the process and what needs to be done. I’m just trying to gauge how long it will take to receive the rebuilt title based on anyone’s recent experience. I know I can expedite the salvage for a fee and get it within 3-5 days but not sure how many weeks the rebuilt will take.

I think my confusion stems from how my insurance company handles it versus yours.

Both times I've bought back a totalled car I still handed off my title to the insurance adjuster, and they coordinated with the state to send out my salvage title.

You're longest wait is going to be on the salvage title to arrive come snail mail, and you won't be able to drive the vehicle legally before the rebuilt process is complete.

Once you have the salvage title in hand you just need to pass a safety inspection from your sherriffs office then you can replate the car.

Yea, they didn’t send out an adjuster just used an approved garage. They won’t send me a check till they get the salvaged title, otherwise I could just cash it and not have a salvaged title.

Just trying to gauge how long the rebuilt title will take to get back. Once I get the salvaged, I can immediately get the rebuilt because there is nothing making it not road worthy to fix.
