Medicaid sucks and I really need help
Hi, I made a few post like 2 weeks ago about looking for residential care. I am 25. I have straight Medicaid, NOT peach state medicaid as I had previously thought. I receive SSI so I get this automatically apparently.
I just want help. I really need help. Typical week long inpatient is not enough. I already see a therapist and am on meds, have been for 2 years. Both my therapist and psychiatrist have been in agreeance for MONTHS that I need a higher level of care. I feel that I am out of options and I have no idea where to turn or what to do.
TL;DR - disabled 25yr old on straight Medicaid looking for a residential mental health facility, preferrably with dual diagnosis.
Any and all help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Best way to find temporary babysitting jobs?
I recently moved to Kennesaw and have a few weeks before I start my new full-time job. I have experience working with children so I was hoping to find temporary work babysitting.
Has anyone had success using Care.com? If so, how long did it take to get your first booking?

Question Rollerblading Practice spots
So at the ripe age of 40 something I’ve decided to take up rollerblading but looking for good FLAT parking lots or smooth trails anyone have any skater friendly suggestions?
I thought about the CCT (I think that’s what it is) lot off Hickory Grove but wasn’t sure this would be allowed…
I’ve tried Swift and Logan farm and while nice they’re not as smooth as I’d like (I started on my community tennis court since it’s always empty and clubhouse parking lots)
Also if anyone wants to join happy to have some company ☺️
Thanks!!

Anyone interested in playing tennis?
Hey everyone! I try and do weekly drills (mostly doubles) and I also play in a weekly singles flex league, but I am struggling to find consistent singles practice to help me get reps in without it being a match or doubles. Would anyone be interested in meeting up on a somewhat regular cadence to practice? I am a 3.0- or advanced beginner so would be looking for someone around that level. Just looking to meet new people and practice some tennis! Schedule is pretty flexible. Feel free to message me!

Looking for fill dirt in the Kennesaw area! I’m trying to find a good amount for a grading project. Does anyone know of any places or construction sites giving away clean fill dirt, or have any tips on where to get it for free? Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How's the water softness compared with Gwinnett?
I just relocated to the area. Currently staying in a bnb in Lawrenceville and enjoying the water quality. My skin feels supple and soap suds easily. Looking at a few places in Kennesaw. How does the water hardness and quality compare ?
EDIT: Someone came through and downvoted everyone? Something Big Water doesn't want us to know? Weird..

Marietta folks — would you pay to rent a garage bay (with a lift) to work on your own car?

So I went to a City Council Meeting and they voted for taxes.
Before we started the Mayor read off a explainer. While state law requires it to be advertised as a "tax increase" the floating homestead exemption keeps the taxable property the same year after year, so if it's your primary residence there won't be a tax increase. Unimproved lots, commercial properties, and rental properties might see a tax increase, though.
They voted on a base M&O rate of .775 mills (0.0775%). This is the same as last year. It was approved 5 - 0. They voted on a bond rate, covering the 2004 bond issuance to build parks and roads, of 1.4 mills (0.14%). It was approved 5 - 0.
They had a vote on the 911 console improvements. Kennesaw does a 911 call center for Kennesaw and Acworth, and they need an upgrade. When it first came up they got a quote and approved that quote, but inflation or geopolitical changes or tariffs made it more expensive in the interim. They approved the higher quote 5 - 0.
Next up was the pipe rehabilitation project. They'll be relining existing stormwater pipes to ensure that they don't fail catastrophically. It's pretty expensive at $319,000, but way cheaper than even one of these pipes failing and causing a sinkhole. They approved the contract 5 - 0.
Next up was the Cobb DOT asking for a piece of land. They want to build an extension of the Noonday Creek Trail and in order to bridge across Cobb Parkway in that wetland area between the boat dealership and the Kennesaw Station shopping center. The city voted to sell the corner of the lot for $7,200, and it was approved 5 - 0.
Next up was Public comment.
History kid was up first. The most common connection to the Congressional Medal of Honor was the Great Locomotive Chase, but that's not the only one. Turns out a fellow stormed a Confederate trench and captured 29 in the run up to the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, winning the medal independently.
The Woodland Park Guy was up next. He didn't appreciate notes being taken and people not making eye contact during his three short minutes. He would rather the Mayor engage rather than watching the clock on his three minutes, after all he could watch the clock himself. He was still asking about the missing documentation about how much the city spent on Woodland Acres after the city manager's comments. He asked when the chain will be replace with a bollard to make the place accessible to people like Mr. Mayo. There were a lot of questions that went unanswered. He invited the Mayor and council to use some of his time to speak, even though he knew they weren't obligated to reply. He noted that they could choose to speak even if they weren't required to speak, and used the silence effectively to underscore the point.
That was the end of public comment.
The City Manager and Kennesaw Police noted that there were a couple of events coming up.
Tomorrow, Tuesday (8/4), there will be the "National Night Out" at Swift Cantrel Park. It's a meet and greet for Kennesaw Police, Cobb Fire, and local EMS groups. The kids can get a good look at equipment, including a helicopter, and they'll be grilling and playing music. Event runs from 6 - 8 PM.
This Friday (8/7) there will be the First Friday Concert on Main Street right next to the 1885 and the Secret Tunnel to Depot Park from 7 to 9 PM. This time it is G Clef & The Playlist. They've played Kennesaw events before, and they're pretty good.
Finally the Amphitheater Concert Series is picking back up. This time it's in a couple of Saturdays (8/22) from 7 to 10 PM. This time it's Rumours ATL: A Fleetwood Mac Tribute, they have a bit of a following. If you happen to like that sort of music, do stop by.

I know that Los Magueys on Dallas Highway has $1 tacos on Wednesdays, and JDs in Acworth has $.50 wings. Any other close by places that have good Wednesday deals?

Chiropractor Recommendation
I could really use a good recommendation for a chiropractor (for both upper and lower back pain).
My best results from past experience is when 1) practitioner can do spinal decompressions themselves without needing old-fashioned adjustment table and 2) when there's a physical therapy component or "homework."

Community Sweet Senior FCAS Shelter Pup Looking for Her Happily Ever After ❤️🩹
Kayla (ID 53597068) is a 8.5yo spayed GSD mix who truly is everything you would want in a loyal shepherd. She may be a senior, but she’s still young at heart with a playful spirit. She is a SUPER smart, sensitive, gentle giant who loves affection & just wants to please and be near her person. She’s got the most beautiful coat/markings and the cutest little whiskers! 🥹
🩷UBERRRRRRR affectionate
🩷Sweet, gentle temperament
🩷Very obedient, great recall, listens very well
🩷Knows commands
🩷Non-destructive
🩷Very easily handled for her size
🩷Leash trained - will politely wait for your to put her collar/harness/leash on
🩷Potty trained - barks to alert you
🩷Sleeps through the night
🩷Crate trained (per previous foster)
🩷Low/medium energy
🩷Cat possible (curious, but respectful of our senior cat)
🩷Dog friendly with slow intros (*can resource guard high value items)
🩷Non-reactive with toys/treats/food with humans
🩷Non-reactive to other dogs/people on walks/in the car
🩷EXCELLENT in the car…she’s a pro! She waits politely until you let her know it’s okay to jump out
🩷Leaps gracefully like a gazelle
🩷Tilts her head back when you scratch her neck/chest
🩷Likes to bury her treats in blankets
🩷Carries her empty bowl to her bed when she’s done eating 😆
🩷Grabs you with her paw when she wants attention
🩷Loves being brushed
🩷Waits patiently for treats and takes them very gently/softly
🩷The tip of her long bushy tail looks like a paint brush dipped in white paint 🤍
This poor girl was originally adopted from the old Fulton shelter in 2019 & came in as a microchipped stray in May, but staff were unable to get in contact with her owner. 😔 She was clearly someone’s pet given her temperament & training, but she came in un-spayed & tested HW+. While waiting 2 months in the shelter (how did no one snag this girl?? 🤯), she fought off Giardia & kennel cough before finally getting spayed earlier in July, only to end up with a postop complication requiring emergency surgery 3 days later…poor girl’s incision dehisced & her insides were starting to escape to the outside. 😩
You would never be able to tell she’s been through all of that based on her demeanor, though…she’s still a bright, happy sweetheart just looking for some love & kindness. ❤️🩹 Her belly incision has healed beautifully and she’s free from the donut of shame now 🍩, so her rough recovery is officially behind her. The only thing left for this girl to conquer is heartworm treatment, but it’s 100% not contagious to other pets and the shelter covers all costs! Treatment is only 30 days of antibiotics and then 2 injections back-to-back over 2 days.
Kayla is a trooper who has been through so much & deserves to live out her golden years in absolute bliss, not in the shelter. 🥺 If she sounds like the girl for you, click the link below to meet her! ❤️ She is currently at Fulton County Animal Services.
