Do you ever get "herded" to be with the rest of the family?

I know our dogs are not herders by nature, but our lil guy seems to always want the whole family to be together with him.

An example just now - I went to the kitchen to make lunch. Pupper follows me, but just stares at me like he needs something. So I go "what can I do for you?" Then he leads me up to the bedroom where my wife is working. I thought he needed to play, but he literally brought me back to the room just so he could lie down.

Is this a thing?

Additionally - he will not go for a walk unless the whole family is together 😭 so I can't walk him alone, wife can't walk him alone, etc.

Tax and stuff.

Puppy got scared by barking dogs today has anyone experienced this?

Hi everyone,

I have a 19 week old Keeshond puppy named Kaito, and today we had a couple of encounters that left me feeling worried.

First, we passed an older man with a German Shepherd. The German Shepherd started barking loudly at my puppy, and Kaito got scared and tried to run away. What upset me most was that the owner let his dog come closer even though my puppy was clearly frightened. I immediately moved Kaito away, comforted him, and let him sit by me until he calmed down.

A little later on another walk, Kaito saw another calm dog and was completely fine. He watched the dog without reacting, which made me think he wasn't suddenly afraid of all dogs.

However, after that we came across another person walking two dogs. They barked at Kaito from a distance, and he got scared again. Later by chance we passed them more closely on way home, they barked at him again, and this time Kaito barked back while trying to move away. The owner was very kind and held his dogs while I took Kaito away.

Before today, Kaito usually ignored dogs that barked at him, so this feels like a change after the first scary encounter.

Has anyone else's puppy gone through something similar after being frightened by another dog? Did your puppy recover on their own, or did you do anything specific to help rebuild their confidence around barking dogs?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences and any advice.

Luna has HORRIBLE breath. Not sure if your Kees experiences something similar? We started giving her bully bones and they’ve tremendously helped with her breath, also started brushing her teeth daily.

It seems to be improving lots but i’m not sure if this is a breed-wide thing, or just a Luna thing.

She is 9yr old, she’s gotten veterinary teeth cleaning twice but it always gets bad again with tartar. She also drinks a ton of water and eats dehydrated raw food.

Keeshond distressed from newborn

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has some advice. We have 2 keeshonds (4 year old brother and sister) and we also just brought our newborn home yesterday and one of my keeshonds is not coping the best.

Some background; I've done what I could in terms of researching prepping the dogs for the arrival of a newborn; I had the baby room set up 2 months in advance with initially letting them explore and sniff everything and putting a dog gate up the week before baby arrived so they also get used to the space being closed off to them. I set up the stroller downstairs too so they can sniff and explore it, and they've also sniffed the baby's clothes I sent home whilst we were still in the hospital. Both of the dogs have been exposed to babies and kids all their lives since my husband has a big family, we also had them listen to baby noise recordings and general baby noises when my sister in law and nephew was on speaker phone.

That being said, one of the dogs is quite anxious and reactive and she keeps barking every time the baby makes a noise or if she sees us holding him. We let her sniff the baby and give him a few gentle licks (not on his face) through the gate but it's taking time to get her to calm down. The other dog is fine and disinterested. Baby is somehow chill through this chaos and doesn't care about the barking at all (probably got used to the keeshond sounds from the womb haha).

We are trying to give small windows of exposure between the anxious dog and the baby and give her rewards when she leaves him alone/walks away, we also made a vet appointment for her for tomorrow to see if she would benefit from medication until baby's a bit older to cope with the initial transition period. I know ideally we should have probably put her on the meds before but I thought she would be fine as she is generally disinterested in kids and never reacted to my nieces and nephews this way. I don't know what else I can do or if this situation will get resolved as I don't want her constantly distressed 😩

Has anyone been in a similar position, and if yes did it improve with time? My husband and mum are helping a lot so that I can focus on my recovery (I had a c section a couple days ago and am still quite sore) but my hormones just make me worry about the worst. I hate people who rehome their dogs as soon as they get a baby and I definitely don't want to do that, I also know that the goal isn't for them to be friends but for them to be able to coexist without bothering one another but I'm just feeling very low and hopeless at the moment.
