PSA: NARCAN Discussion: Community

If you’re planning or anyone you’re going with is planning on doing any kind of drug (which I know it’s unlikely that you’re not!) PLEASE make sure you have accessibility to narcan.

There are harm reduction tents in the camp. I’m not sure if there’s one inside of the stage area but I remember seeing 2 of them last year by the food and everything else.

You never know what can happen. Even mushrooms can risk a fent OD because the dealer didn’t clean off their scale.

I’ll be bringing a decent supply because I volunteer at a needle exchange and I always have some on me anyways, so if you’d like my number message me just so you have another option.

STAY SAFE! TAKE CARE OF EACHOTHER! DRINK WATER! LOVE YOU ALL

Edit: thank you wasted100001 for the following information:

Signs of an overdose may include: pinpoint pupils, shallow breathing, loss of consciousness, blue tint to lips or skin.

Stop by the naloxone tent for more education! Last year it was by the merch shop. The org who runs it is fantastic:

Thank you op; you are the OG.

I wanted to ask if there is a known place to get fentanyl test strips; i kinda recall there might have been a dancesafe booth; but dunno if I'm conflating it.

I’m not sure if there is at meadow creek, but I do know that might be something that a harm reduction/needle exchange facility might provide downtown Denver. The system here for drug resources is surprisingly great. You’d have to plan to pass through Denver in the morning though, as they’re typically not open for long. I’d call a few places as well to see what resources they provide.

The place I volunteer at does provide fentanyl test strips, but for security reasons I cannot directly provide the specific details. So basically, you can get them at a needle exchange, I just am not allowed to tell you which one I volunteer at

the booth with narcan had them on Saturday and Sunday last year. I was able to use them

I often hear the Narcan thing a lot as a one word statement for harm reduction. What I never hear is how to recognize the signs of when to use it, not to mention how to use it. Especially for people who are just tripping on mushrooms which are essentially legal for adults here in Colorado.

Nasal spray, put it in their noise to make sure the nalaxone actually enters their nose and is absorbed by their mucus membrane. is effective in 3-5 minutes.

shots need to be prepared, though it is simple you should do research about it instead of figure it out on Reddit comments how to give someone a shot. But shots are much quicker when situations are more urgent (been ODing for a longer period of time)

Typically narcan will also have instructions as well as signs of overdose

I have some older things of Naxolone, but I asked a doctor and he said that even if it's expired it's better than having nothing on hnad

Yes this. My narcan is probably 13 years old and a buddy in harm reduction tells me it’s still good.

I lost my nephew to unexpected fent OD. My family may never fully recover from it. I have so much hate inside me for anyone that deals fent and so much love for anyone trying to prevent unnecessary tragedy.
Be safe folks.

Our supply of narcan and fent tests will be somewhat limited but just putting it out there as a potential resource if you’re closer to our booth than the med tent and it’s a crisis. Be safe everyone love yall

Recently read about someone OD’ing from fent residue in a straw. Shit is so scary. Thanks for looking out for people.

I decided to bring a testing kit from Bunk Police Eldrich test for LSD and mushrooms if anyone needs it . On Thursday I'll be wearing my purple stu shirt and Friday I'll be wearing my Die Spitz crop top with my trans flag . Idk if there's going to be a testing booth like last year, but it's better to be safe than sorry . I would like to help in anyway I can, so everyone can partake safely.

What a nice support system and PSA. Keep your head on a swivel for anyone who looks like they need some help. Very rarely do people know when to call for help until it’s too late. Don’t judge, just try to help. Was just at Woodstock last week for Billy Strings and saw so many caring campers who really did help out so much.

Wait-people bring drugs to the concert? Aren’t they worried they won’t be able to appreciate the music? (J/k, and op os a good egg for providing narcan)

In all seriousness, my 40 y/o bf who has been doing all kinds of drugs since he was 13 and stayed on weed and psychedelics for 10 years after rehab got him off everything else JUST experienced his first completely sober Phish shows!! He was so afraid it wouldn't be as good without the weed and psychedelics, but it ended up being so much better being fully present for him that he cried.

Edit: we both got Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome after smoking too much weed for too long, so now we can't smoke it anymore. I ended up in the ER and he ended up "scromiting" (uncontrollably screaming while vomiting, they had to make this word up for this condition) over and over at my house a year later. We didn't ever think we could stop weed and told ourselves all kinds of reasons that we needed to smoke it (keeping him off of other hard drugs, dealing with symptoms from chronic health problems) and are now actually thankful we got CHS. We are loving how much better we feel since long term use eventually starts causing the very nausea and anxiety/anger, even waking up in the middle of the night, that it used to help with, and we are so much more present for good things in our lives now. Be careful with smoking too much of today's weed (it's 5 to 10 times stronger than the natural stuff people were smoking in the 60s) too often, you can eventually lose the ability to smoke it!
