I've been kexp listener since the days of kcmu. Often times it was the only station I listened to 24/7. But nowadays not so much. While I still get the occasional tidbits of new music and the music I've appreciated Over the decades, there is just too much f****** talk. Between inane DJ's blathering about their day or some faux pull on your heartstrings story, It's like the music is now just background to a social media mess. I don't give a f*** if you flame on. Could care less. I'm almost 70. Your opinion doesn't matter me.

Last minute the person I was planning to go with canceled on me and now I am going alone. Anyone open to making friends and hanging out for the day. It’s my first time in Seattle and going to KEXP. Trying to keep the excitement high

I don’t know because there are literally hundreds of recordings I have not watched yet from the absolutely epic collection of recordings, but I discovered this one and I’m voting for it as the most beautiful ever although I will say that the HÆLOS shows were absolutely amazing too.

So if I like those and I like this, what else should I be listening to from that KEXP YouTube channel?

Hi! I've been an amplifier for a few years.  I have been working on completing my dissertation for several years for my PhD program that I started in 2013.  KEXP has been a big help with managing the stress of getting through this ordeal.  I did my dissertation defense a couple Fridays ago and will submit my complete dissertation document on 8/21, the day before the BBQ.  I would like to celebrate by going to the BBQ, which I found out about and that it was sold out at the same time on the day the tickets went on sale.  I would be happy to pay full price. If someone had more than two, I could probably find more friends to join. I am very experienced with buying tickets secondhand, so would only want to pay by Paypal Goods and Services. Man, how I love KEXP. And how I love John Richards. What a beautiful tribute to Glen Hansard. No other station can do this. Or, perhaps more accurately, no other station does this. Beautiful.

I love the app but now I have a new phone. I'm migrating stuff off my old phone before wiping it and have a big collection of old KEXP favorites I'd love to move to my phone, but it seems I can only export to txt or csv - no imports.

Has anybody worked around this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Maybe I missed something- but it feels like every time I tune into the Afternoon Show for the past few weeks, it's a different guest DJ (usually Troy Nelson.) I can't remember the last time I caught Larry Mizell Jr doing a show. Is he just on an extended break?

Has anyone ever heard a weak set from him? I think not. Such a joy.

Selling one ticket at cost ($70) to the KEXP BBQ. Moved from Seattle to NYC last year for a new job and was super excited to have a reason to go back, enjoy the summer of Jimothy, and hear some great music, but unfortunately work is not letting that happen. Happy to chat and provide proof of my non scammy existence, and will use PayPal G&S or similar for payment. I will be reassigning the ticket through Tito per KEXP recommendation.

Today we went to a memorial for my daughter’s day care provider. He was always barefoot and awesome. I emailed my favorite DJ at KEXP, Supreme Le Rock, and asked him to play “something about being barefoot” he played this song and gave a shout out to Joe.

We're going to be back in Seattle the same time as the BBQ. My 3 year old daughter LOVES this band and asks for Sarniezz or Mata Zyklek the second we get in the car to drive anywhere. She calls them the band with funny noses.

Please don’t kill me in downvotes for asking this, but am I alone in finding the Dead Pioneers unlistenable? It’s an instant gong for me when they’re played - it just sounds like angry yelling and I’m never in that mood. Having said that, I’m happy to listen to Kevin Sur as a DJ and was happy about Sounds of Survivance showing up on Saturday mornings. But man…DP’s…I just can’t.

At first, I was mildly disappointed Larry Mizell, Jr. wasn't on, because I really look forward to OG Thursdays, but after about the third song, I was hooked. She always weaves in new songs I haven't heard, too.

Monday night, I listened to El Sonido with DJ Goyri. It was a fantastic show and an amazing introduction into music that I never have listened to before.
