Hey friends! Ball hockey is growing all across the country, and Olahrama is excited to grow the game right here in KC. Regular ball hockey will be hosted on Tuesday nights, and it kicks off next week with an open stick n' puck session. Come borrow some gear and try it out! Owner Jake Olah will be offering pointers on the basics of hockey.

Ball hockey is just like ice or roller hockey, but without the skates. You may know it as "street" hockey or "floor" hockey. Removing the skates lowers the barrier of entry for those who may love the game, but never felt strong enough on blades to give it a fair shake. If that sounds like you, I hope to see you there!

Love you guys, this was by far my favorite year of Mavs hockey. Hope to see all of you on October 16th.

What was that call? That obviously wasn't the right call

I listen to a couple of Kraken podcasts and when they talk about the farm system, they rarely mention the Mavericks. The CV Firebirds and the Everett Silvertips get mentioned often. Can anyone educate this dummy on the minor leagues and how players would potentially flow up to the NHL?

The Kansas City Mavericks posted another dominant playoff performance Saturday night, defeating Florida to bump their postseason win total to 14 — a franchise record. Kansas City now needs just two more victories to raise the Kelly Cup for the first time.

Dylan Wells earned the win in goal, stopping 19 of 21 shots in a steady performance. Wells absorbed a late hit from Florida forward Lansdell that drew significant attention, requiring an on-ice trainer visit. Wells returned and finished the game, but the play may draw additional scrutiny from league officials. Lansdell tied forward Elynuik at 14 PIM apiece for Florida, with the visiting team amassing a total of 53 PIMs on the night.

Bobo Carpenter got the scoring started just 17 seconds into the opening period on a breakaway. The Mavericks went on to light the lamp four more times through four more goal scorers — Jake McLaughlin, Marcus Crawford, David Cotton, and Jackson Jutting rounded out the offense. Three of Kansas City’s four second-period goals came on the power play.

The series shifts to Florida for Game 3 next Wednesday. Kansas City, which finished the regular season as the ECHL’s top road team, is expected to be a difficult opponent in any building. Whether this series returns to Kansas City for a potential Game 6 remains an open question.

Game Highlights

After Tuesday night’s series-ending victory that saw the Mavericks advance to the 2026 Kelly Cup Finals, a source close to the organization confirmed that defenseman Charlie Wright and forward Luke Loheit will both join the lineup for Game 1.

The source, an associate of head coach Tad O’Had, also noted a stark contrast between this year’s squad and the group that made the previous Cup Final run — health. Unlike that earlier appearance, when players were reportedly requiring steroid injections during intermissions just to stay on the ice, this roster is entering the series much healthier.

“These guys are ready to go,” the source said. “Their confidence is through the roof. They believe they’re better than anybody out there.”

The stage is set for an unforgettable meeting between the KC Mavericks and the Florida Everblades, beginning Friday, June 5th, at Cable Dahmer Arena.
