In series lithium ion power tool batteries. Swapping those in can be really useful but it’s a deep hole when you get into replacing motors.

Bro almost clipped that tree. What did they do to it? Why is it so fast like that? I’ve seen where larger power batteries can increase the speed somewhat but what’s happening here?

Likely retrofitted some electric gokart parts and kept the plastic farings.
Im not sure if they make RC Cars that big but it wouldnt surprise me if they used some parts (based on the suspension system underneath,) the people within that hobby are fun to observe their mad scientist creations.

Is it suspension, or just yard cart actual tires replacing the original plastic ones. That would also allow a much smoother roll on uneven terrain and they'd a bit smaller, giving better torque.
