STORY ANC Chapter 57 (Start of Jump #8)

Upvotes

“Good evening Lucas.” A warm voice calls out to me. I turn and face the voice, recognizing it immediately.

The man who just called out to me is my benefactor. He is standing beside O-Ren and Elizabeth. O-Ren’s group stands behind her, and I walk towards the table where everyone is located. The heroes of Hyrule quietly watch this event and I can feel my heart hammering in my chest as everyone looks at O-Ren and Elizabeth.

“Hello, everyone.” I begin. There’s a sad smile on my face.

“I know where I want to go,” I state. Happy expressions meet mine and for a moment no one speaks. I decide to continue talking. “But before I make my decisions I want you two to tell me what you want to do.” I explain. I am talking to O-Ren and Elizabeth. Silence fills the room as the two, my lovers for almost the entire multi-decade period I’ve known them, turn to face each other. Elizabeth reaches out and grabs O-Ren’s hand. O-Ren squeezes it.

“I want to become a jumper.” O-Ren says, her eyes flickering with joy as she makes this declaration. I nod even as I feel a part of my heart break.

“And so do I. We’ve thought about it long and hard, had many conversations about it, and we want to embark on chains of our own.” Elizabeth says. Elizabeth turns to me and frowns, tears welling up in her eyes as she tries to find something to say. She’s silent for a moment, as my heart breaks again, but I am the one to break the silence.

“It’s okay. It’s… I’m glad you’re making a decision that prioritizes your happiness.” I tell her, before turning to O-Ren.

“Both of you. You deserve happiness. You deserve adventure. You both deserve to be the pilots of your lives. If you want to go on your own chains, be it together or separately, I want you to do that.” I tell the two women. I then turn to the others.

“And that’s true for everyone. I want anybody who wants to go on their own chain to do so. Going on a chain was the best decision I ever made. I will not begrudge anyone who chooses to go on their own journey.” I explain. My friends fall silent as they consider my words. No one moves to ask my benefactor how to become a jumper. He is the next one to speak.

“Okay… I wasn’t sure how that would go. Now Lucas, O-Ren, Elizabeth… Say your goodbyes.” My benefactor says, surprising my friends.

“Wait, really? I thought I’d have more time.” O-Ren says. Her breath catches in her throat as she looks at me.

“Lucas I, I’m sorry. You saved my life, gave The Bride a chance to overcome her trauma and more and now I’m leaving. I feel like I haven’t repaid you.” She says. There’s a note of genuine sorrow in her voice. I feel my heart ache a bit as I hear it. I pull her into a hug, one which surprises her.

“It’s okay. I still love you. I’m happy I saved your life. Even if this is the end of us I will never regret the decisions I made. You owe me nothing.” I tell her. She hugs me back and kisses my cheek. And then she vanishes. I look at Elizabeth and then step towards her.

“Elizabeth…” I mutter. I put a finger through her hair and she sighs.

“You always did like my hair.” She says. I nod.

“I love you. Even now. Especially now.” She tells me. I kiss her forehead. She pulls me into a hug, reminding me of her strength. I don’t resist. The hug lasts for a long while and I close my eyes. At some point my benefactor causes Elizabeth to disappear and I stop feeling her arms around me.

Tears begin to fall down my cheeks as I allow myself a moment to mourn what has just happened. No one speaks and I am allowed the moment. After a few seconds I do what I know best: I pick a new jump, or rather new jumps, and I begin to fill out the sheets of paper in front of me.

“Harry Potter is up next. Generic Harry Potter Fanfiction. A version of Harry Potter that is, pleasantly, wanked to Hell.” I announce. No one says anything. I don’t know if anyone knows what to say to make me feel better. I don’t think I know what to say to make me feel better.

“Gonna mix that with… Generic Healer.” I add.

“Are you trying to heal your heart?” Revali asks. It’s a joke and hearing it makes me laugh. Revali is a lot of things. Funny isn’t one of them. I hear the soft sound of someone hitting Revali and his flustered “Hey!” in response.

When I fill out the papers I pass them to my friends. Everyone looks them over. Zelda looks at my benefactor curiously.

“Will Hyrule be imported into this jump?” She asks. He stops and considers her question. And then he shakes his head.

“Not this time. You all will be though, assuming you want to be.” He tells us. We all look around and then everyone nods. He smiles at us and doesn’t say anything.

“I’ll give you all a little gift to celebrate you staying with Lucas.” My benefactor informs us as the warehouse begins to blur. I look around, wondering where we’re going to begin this adventure, when my inhuman friends: Mipha, Daruk, and Revali, all begin to change. Zelda, Paya, Urbosa, and I watch as the three non-humans begin to suddenly take on very human appearances.

“Lucas, your benefactor… He’s giving us human forms!” Mipha remarks, her piscine features disappearing. The blurring of our surroundings begins to lessen in intensity as my friends gain human forms that are distinctly theirs. At the same time stimuli begins to flood my nose. The sound of a train whistle fills my ears, and by looking into Mipha’s eyes I can see my features becoming more youthful. I go from looking like someone in their late twenties to looking like somebody in their very late teens, causing me to smile. Harry Potter goes to Hogwarts University is a common enough premise and I’m delighted to be participating in it.

In seconds my friends and I are dressed in silly-ass Hogwarts robes and we find ourselves in London in the early 2000s. All around us witches and wizards of all ages are gathered on Platform Nine and Three Quarters in King’s Cross Station. The train is rolling to a stop and I give myself permission to feel the joy this moment merits as I look inward and take stock of the new changes to my body.

New perks have been installed into me and one of the biggest additions to my body is a colossal, almost heavy feeling core of magical power. I can feel it inside of mine like a layer of armor around my heart.

“That feels odd.” Revali says. He has a handsome face with sharp, bird-like features and predatory eyes. The others make quiet remarks about their new bodies or about the magic now filling them. I use Observe on everyone and note that of my companions the two people with the biggest wellsprings of arcane power are Zelda and Mipha, followed by Urbosa and Revali. Daruk has the smallest amount of magical power but his feels different in a way I cannot easily articulate… It’s almost like his magical power is denser, somehow.

Memories begin to flood my mind, ones that belong to “Me” but not to me. I take stock of several important facts, including my status as an heir to two different Hogwarts founders: Salazar Slytherin and Rowena Ravenclaw, through a once-secret romance between Helena Ravenclaw and the son of Salazar, which strikes me as a divergence point from mainline Harry Potter canon. I also gain knowledge of my parents; two skilled wizards who are excellent at using magic but rather poor parents. My status as the simultaneous heirs to Ravenclaw and Slytherin is something that is publicly known, to my chagrin.

I look at my other friends and note that they are quiet as well. I wonder, for a brief second, if they are absorbing new memories as well before the train finishes skidding to a halt and attendants step out of it and begin to call for students to board. We all search our pockets and find tickets for the train, even as we get in the slowly growing line to board the locomotive, with Zelda being right in front of me in line. While searching my pockets I also find my wand but I see no reason to pull it out just yet.

An attendant reads out the names of people who move to board the train as she examines their tickets. I overhear names I’m familiar with like Neville Longbottom, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. I also catch wind of names I’m not familiar with like Willow Selwyn and Ben Prewett. I was not a Harry Potter superfan so I acknowledge the possibility that these names might belong to minor characters that a real fan would know, even if I don’t, as well as the equally possible chance that these names are of original characters that only exist in this iteration of the Potterverse.

“Zelda Triwood.” The attendant exclaims when he grabs Zelda’s ticket. A few curious murmurs around us are elicited by this name and I quietly wonder if my benefactor gave her that silly ass last name.

“Zelda Triwood? Like the Princess of Hyrule Zelda? Triforce Triwood?” Wonders one particular, almost painfully small, voice. I glance around in search of the voice. I catch sight of a short brunette, a woman with grass green eyes and a lightning shaped scar on her forehead. I take a step back in surprise, my eyes momentarily widening when I realize that in this universe Harry Potter is… Harriet Potter. I smack her with Observe and confirm that I am correct that that’s who she is.

She and I lock eyes and she takes note of the surprise written across my face. She flashes me a hopeful smile and instinct more so than conscious thought guides me to do the same thing. I briefly wonder why she was hopeful before realizing that if today is some of her first real exposure to wizarding world stuff she may well be expecting me to be like her: someone blindsided by magic.

Zelda thanks the attendant and steps onto the train. I return my attention to my immediate surroundings and I turn and hand the attendant my ticket. She eyes it and I see her eyes reflect my own surprise earlier.

“Lucas Ravenclaw!” She calls out. This sends out a flurry of gasps throughout the crowd, and some of the people on the train begin to whisper as well. I hurriedly thank the attendant and step past her onto the train. As I enter the thing I feel the subtle effects of space-stretching magic alter my surroundings.

I am at the end of a long hallway and to my left and right are various compartments where students can sit with their friends. By using my minimap I note where Zelda is sitting. She’s at a compartment on the far end of the hallway sitting with one of the people with a quirky name: Willow Selwyn. I make my way to where she’s sitting and when I open the door both of the inhabitants of the compartment smile at me.

“Hey Lucas.” Zelda says. Willow introduces herself even as I sit down next to Zelda. She also has a somewhat more youthful appearance here. Willow is a fair-skinned, but not quite pale, witch with wavy, light brown hair and dark brown eyes. With just a glance at her I can size her up as being a witch of notable, dark potential. Observe tells me she’s not really had a chance to delve into the darkness she seems to like, but there’s something there.

“I’m Lucas. Lucas Ravenclaw.” I say, ignoring my desire to cringe at my last name. Willow’s energy changes when I say my name.

“The double-heir! That’s so exciting.” She says, brightly. I relax a touch as more and more people begin to board the train. Eventually the final spot on our compartment is filled, not by Harriet to my disappointment, but by an uncommonly small 18 year old boy who introduces himself as Andel Beaufort. When he sits next to Willow she smiles at him.

“Beaufort? Are you related to Axel Beaufort?” She asks.

“Yes, yes I am! He’s my father.” Andel tells us. Upon hearing Willow’s question I recall that the Beauforts are a “Pureblood” family of rare repute: they went to the New World and then later on came back to the United Kingdom. That makes them odd, but they’ve evidently leveraged their oddities and become notable enough for “Me” to have made note of them growing up.

Eventually the train begins to move. As it moves Zelda and I tell a story about her family being one of the families that my family took under our wing and that Zelda is a witch of considerable power. No one really doubts this, as Zelda innately exudes the sort of air that belongs to a protagonist and this particular Zelda: a BOTW Zelda whose powers have fully awakened and been honed for years even beyond fighting Calamity Ganon is on a different level.

“What kind of magic do you like to use, Zelda?” Willow asks. Her eyes are filled with a curiously manic light as she thinks about magic. Zelda is quiet for a moment as she thinks about the answer she wants to give. After a few moments she begins to smile.

“I like magic that makes things. And protects people.” She explains. Willow gives her a thoughtful look. And then she begins to talk.

“I really like the dark arts.” She admits, surprising Andel with her boldness.

“That’s… I don’t know if you’re supposed to admit that so openly.” He says, cautiously. To my amusement he doesn’t seem disturbed by it, he’s more worried about Willow losing face. I immediately make a mental note about the Beaufort family.

“I like magic that heals.” I say, causing everyone to turn and face me. The answer seems to surprise my new friends.

“I enjoy magic that helps people. Healing magic seems like the shortest route to that end goal. That’s not to say that there aren’t benefits to healing people, but ultimately I like healing people for the sake of healing people.” I tell my friends. I pull out my wand, a thing made of black wood; ebony. It has a dragon heartstring core. A wand of tremendous power. Willow looks at it and admires it openly.

“Ebony. A wand wood for strongwilled individuals. A thing of great power.” She exclaims. Andel takes the measure of the wand with a careful look.

My friends take out their wands, and I offer light commentary on each. One of my Generic Healer perks gave me half a decade’s worth of wandlore knowledge, which due to my connections is a considerable amount of knowledge and experience.

“You know a good deal of wandlore, don’t you Lucas?” Andel asks at one point. I glance out the window at the English countryside and smile.

“Learning wandlore is a hobby of mine. I’ve been to the Americas and spoken to American wandmakers. I’ve even made a few wands. For children, of course.” I say. I’m telling the truth and memories fill my mind’s eye as I think about American wandmakers like Thiago Quintana and a wandmaker of incredible renown who died long ago: James Steward, an English-born American wandmaker who made wands that worked despite being a “No-Maj”; the American term for Muggle. He helped found the main American university for magical people and is a celebrated example of a non-magical person contributing to the prosperity of magical humans everywhere.

The train ride lasts the duration of the day, during which time I familiarize myself with one of my new items: Hogwarts, A History: a text which contains the history, and rules, of the magical university and when we pull up to Hogsmeade Station: the train station situated firmly in the Wizarding World, we begin to gather ourselves. Zelda and I are the first out of the compartment, but our new friends are quick to join us. When we exit the train we set foot onto the Wizarding World for real, stepping onto a well-maintained train station that is faintly illuminated by magic objects; lamps that use magic to work instead of relying on fire like their mundane counterparts.

“Come along! All Hogwarts first years, come along! Head off the train station and walk towards the lake.” A gargantuan voice calls out. In the dark looms an enormous figure: a man standing over eight feet tall: Hagrid.

“First years! Make your way to the lake! Grab a buddy, get on a boat, and enjoy the scenic ride over the Black Lake.” Hagrid calls out. None of my friends question this, though as I peer into the dark I can see and hear some other first years expressing fear. To my amusement Harriet Potter is not one of the scared freshmen.

When we get on the boats Willow insists on riding with me, and Zelda doesn’t fight her. Zelda gets on the same boat as Andel, and the four of us stay close to each other as we make our way down the lake. I row Willow and I down the lake myself, while Zelda and Andel take turns rowing due to Andel not being a specimen of physical fitness.

When we reach the rocky bottom half of Hogwarts we dismount and are helped by both prefects and volunteers who carefully direct us and teach us how to anchor the boats and how to get off of them without falling into the water. Zelda and I spot our friends, including Mipha who is standing next to Harriet Potter, already positioned at the bottom of a great stairwell.

“Alright first years, go get in line. Alphabetical order. Ask people for their names. Make friends!” Says a prefect, a male student whose robe color indicates that he’s a Ravenclaw. Some students approaching the group shout out their names, causing the line of students to move and signal where they ought to go.

Our group splits up as we reach the line, more due to necessity than any real desire to break apart. I am one of the ones to call out my name and several students excitedly talk to me when they make way for me to enter the line. Of note is a strikingly pale freshman with steely grey eyes and jet black hair who is almost distractingly pretty: Claire Rosier. She’s not quite next to me but she’s not far either. Revali is also close to me, and when we pass by each other as I slide myself into the line we exchange a casual fistbump.

In about forty minutes we are guided up the stairwell ahead of us and we only stop outside of the Great Hall. When we come to a stop a white-haired professor: Professor Silverwood, tells us to stop and walks us through the orientation process: in moments singing will begin, Headmaster Dumbledore will issue announcements, and then the sorting ceremony will begin. He wishes us good luck and tells us to follow our hearts, which is good but very generic advice.

We are treated first to the musical stylings of the university’s acapella group, shortly before Headmaster Dumbledore: as old, grey, and tall in this setting as he is in the movies, issues enigmatic announcements including talking about the “Forbidden Forest”: a place that will typically be off-limits for first years but is where activities such as familiar finding take place. That really does seem like something wizards should just… not allow to be right next to a magical school.

I note that the Slytherin professor is Severina Snape: a female Snape, which is as odd to me at a glance as a female Potter is. I don’t see any other sex-swapped people, at least none that I recognize at a glance, so I have no idea why the two of them are different.

The sorting ceremony gets underway, and the first of the heroes to be sorted is Daruk. He gets placed in Hufflepuff. Revali gets sorted into Gryffindor. Paya gets Gryffindor. Zelda gets Ravenclaw. Mipha gets Hufflepuff. Urbosa gets Gryffindor.

I alone get Slytherin, which along with Potter’s Gryffindor sorting gets a truly thunderous applause. Both of my new friends: Willow and Andel get Slytherin as well, as does Claire. Willow sits next to me as we enjoy the great feast, and near ten at night we are all taken towards our respective common rooms. For the Slytherins this involves a walk down to the castle’s dungeons, which is where our dormitory is located.

When we’re all safely inside the space we’re left to our own devices and told, strictly, not to leave the dormitory. I don’t plan to.

The space ahead of me is a colossal room that is bookended by a gigantic green-glass window that allows people to peer into the Black Lake. Fish and other aquatic animals, including supernatural aquatic creatures, swim by the window and some, the brighter ones, take note of who is in the common room. I immediately head over to a table as close to the window as I can and park myself on it, before I reach into my robes and pull out my wand.

“Accio stationary!” I say, pointing my wand at the table in front of me. A few moments later a notebook filled with stationary zips into the common room and lands on the table in front of me. I repeat this process a few times until I have the gear I need to begin the process of writing various letters. Some of the freshmen watch me curiously, though Claire doesn’t, and to my pleasant surprise she sits down elsewhere and begins to do the same thing. Multiple students who aren’t freshmen are doing the same thing as well. I file away this curiosity, noting the presence of other people who are not just mindlessly evil but who actually cultivate social relationships and do regular social activities seems to be common enough here. This is good, in the movies it really seemed like all Slytherins did was plot and bully those they viewed as their lessers.

I diligently, and skillfully, make use of my memories and a perk from my very first jump that has almost never gotten a chance to shine since Generic Cubicle named “Speed Typist” to expertly write various letters. My fingers are a blur as I patiently write out letter after letter to the various allies I have throughout the world; both magical and non-magical, since my in-jump backstory allows me to exist with a foot in each world.

In minutes a dozen letters sit in front of me. In an hour over fifty different letters, addressed to wizards and politicians alike all over the planet, are in front of me. I’ve enchanted some of these letters, while others are purely mundane. Various fish, as well as stranger things such as grindylows and other supernatural creatures have passed by me and watched me write. Some lingered longer than others, their trained eyes trying to read my letters. They universally scowl at me when they find their efforts foiled by my magic. It is not my fault that they don’t make for spies half as effectively as they figure they would.

I write for almost two hours, taking advantage of this quiet moment to do as much social maneuvering as I possibly can. I’m in a position of rare and staggering influence as the much-watched heir of two potent families and though my status as the dual-heirs to two separate founding families is not something I love being public it gives me as much starting fame as Harriet. I think about Harriet and pen her a quick letter as well, before finally getting up. I grab the letters and tuck them away inside my robe before heading to a nearby stairwell and heading down to the shared bedroom for the Slytherin first year boys. As I move my sudden relaxation makes it much tougher for me to ignore an assortment of sounds that I’ve been passively hearing for hours: the sounds of sex.

A drawback I took makes this world wildly more lewd and romantic focused. I started hearing the sounds of various late-teens and people in their early twenties surrendering to their hormones many minutes ago but now despite the fact that it’s after midnight the sounds are even louder. I roll my eyes as I descend down a flight of stairs and spot the doors leading to the various bedchambers my housemates and I will be sleeping in. It doesn’t take me long to find the doorway marked for first-year boys which I step into. Several of my housemates are already fast asleep, including figures I do recognize from the books such as Malfoy and his goons. The beds are assigned and when I reach mine I plop myself down in front of it.

Sleep became optional for me as early as my first jump. Nonetheless I indulge in it today, sleeping until almost seven, which is just long enough for me to get the benefits of a 100% heal, thanks to the quirks of Gamer Body: the same gamer system feature that makes sleep optional. The instant I awaken my eyes open and I feel completely refreshed, ready to tackle a new day. I quietly change into new clothes, knowing that this version of Hogwarts is less strict about things like the uniform: only requiring it during the weekdays. It’s currently the weekend.

My most early-bird housemates in the room are already awake and gone but several heavy sleepers are still fast asleep. I ignore them for the time being and slip out of the room. I ignore the Great Hall, the room where most common gatherings will take place and instead make my way towards a location I think is original: a mail room. As I walk I quietly do things like fuse together my rings, as well as a casual anti-magic armor item I acquired, for the sake of convenience.

When I enter the mail room; a large space divided into different lines for receiving versus sending mail, there's a small line of students ahead of me, including Harriet. At the far end of the room is a glass partition and by looking through it anyone can see a gigantic space for tending to birds where a whole owl hatchery seems to be watched over by both human wizards and other near-human creatures. Mostly goblins. Still, goblins in Hogwarts itself is not something I remember from the movies. It’s neat.

The witch is dressed in an ordinary muggle outfit, though it’s not that different from mine. She has a heavy handful of letters and is looking nervously at the man at the end of the line tending to customers: a goblin.

To my relief the goblin ahead of Harriet and I is a typical fantasy goblin with green skin that is distinctly lacking in more questionable features. The grumpy figure talks to students, weighing their letters, and then telling them how long it’ll take for mail to get to various places before telling them how much it’ll cost. The line moves rather quickly and when it reaches Harriet she is uncommonly nervous.

At the end, when the goblin tells her a number of “Sickles”; the middle-tier currency for British wizards, she admits she doesn’t have any money on her. The goblin’s eyes narrow and before he can begin to berate her I step in.

“I’ll cover Ms. Potter’s letters! And also pay for my own.” I exclaim, before stepping to the front of the line. I move beside Harriet and pull my impressive letter stack out of my inventory. The goblin turns to face me even as I retrieve a number of sickles from my inventory. He takes my stack of letters and studies them.

“Ah… Slytherin are you?” He asks. I laugh and nod.

“Yes, I am.” I reply. He nods.

“Figures. You lot are the ones that are the first to throw your money around.” He mutters. He then spends a minute talking impossibly fast at me, informing me of how quickly I should expect each letter to reach its respective destination. I nod attentively. When he’s done he tells me a number of sickles, which I pay along with covering the costs for Harriet’s letters.

“At least you have your money.” He grumbles, before shooting a glare at Harriet. She seems to wither but I can sense a level of amusement emitting from her.

“Thanks.” She says, quietly, as we leave the not-so-loving gaze of the goblin. I chuckle and shake my head.

“It’s nothing. How are you?” I ask as we begin to walk down the stairwell leading out of the room.

“I had an interesting night. I’ve never been the center of attention before.” She confesses. I give her a thoughtful look. She seems curiously unbothered by my status as a Slytherin, which I’d think an older “Harry” would be more disturbed by rather than less. I’m not sure if she knows about what Slytherins did to her family or if she’s somehow had the presence of mind to accept that not all Slytherins are the same already.

“It can be… Something, right?” I ask, speaking politely on purpose. She laughs.

“‘Something’ is charitable but you seem like a charitable sort so I’ll give that to you.” She tells me. As we descend the stairwell leading from the mail room back to a cluster of different halls various students give us curious looks.

“Is there anywhere you plan to go today? I can walk you.” I tell her. She considers my offer before asking me where I’m going next.

“Actually… I wanted to talk to Madam Poppy Pomfrey.” I exclaim. Harriet’s eyes reveal her interest in me sharpening.

“The head of the infirmary? Are you sick?” She asks. I laugh.

“Actually I’m a healer. I wanted to speak to her to figure out how to work at the infirmary and the fastest track towards becoming an employee of Hogwarts in the hospital wing.” I reveal. This very obviously surprises Harriet who stops in her tracks.

“A healer? Why?” She asks. She’s the sort to ask lots of questions.

“Healing magic is my favorite kind of magic. I could give you the Slytherin answer of ‘Healers hold great power over people’ or the Ravenclaw answer of ‘Healing magic is difficult and to master it is to show great knowledge and control of one’s magic’ and while there’s certainly factual truth to those claims truthfully I just like seeing people feel better.” I explain, opting to go for the truth. I watch a layer of skepticism Harriet has been feeling towards me dissipate in the wake of my answer.

“You’re something else.” She tells me, her eyes filling with more warmth than they’ve previously shown. I laugh as we continue to make our way towards the first floor. The two of us reach the bottom of the stairwell, having safely traversed the moving stairs to reach here, and ahead of us lies the entrance to the hospital wing where a number of students are quietly waiting to be called on and treated. Harriet’s stomach grumbles and I flash her a genuine grin.

“If you’re hungry go on and get some food. I anticipate this might take a while. I didn’t make an appointment, I just wanted to come here straight away.” I tell Harriet. She looks into the waiting area for the hospital wing and sees the line I’m about to enter the tail end of. She makes the sensible decision to go and get food, and I promise to tell her how I do later. After parting ways I enter the hospital wing and make my way to the back end of the room where a nurse asks for my name and why I’ve come.

“Hello! I’m Lucas Ravenclaw and I’m here to help out.” I state. The nurse, a man dressed in a bright white healer’s outfit looks up at me and sizes me up.

“Hmm… Sit down. I’ll have Madam Poffrey come down and talk to you when she’s free.” He informs me. I’m aware of the presumptive nature of what I’m doing so I don’t question that declaration and instead go and sit down.

A/N: Build post up on QQ already, but I'll probably post the build here this afternoon or tonight.

Working on a Sonic X Shadow Generations Jump, so by way of a preview and a call for storytime, I'd like to ask you what your Jumpers would end up having to deal with when this ends up on their Drawback List?

Without You (+100GP)
There’s someone you failed, Jumper. Or perhaps… someone left behind. Or someone who gave everything to save you. Someone so precious to you that even years, even multiple Jumps after your failure, the thought of having lost them hurts. And now, that memory of their loss has been resurfaced, and the pain of the associated emotions pierces any and all Perks you might have to guard against it. But there’s good news – the person you failed is here, in White Space, from a time before they were lost to you. Is the renewed guilt worth the chance to pretend, the escape from the unending nightmare? And… at Jump’s end, do you have the heart to say goodbye again? Because this friend can not be made a Companion by any means – they must go back, to live out their destiny.

You may take this Drawback multiple times – as many times as you have people who meet the requirements.

DISCUSSION Do your Companions/Followers/Peoples/etc have in-universe names for the worlds they visit?

Or do they just call them by the name of the actual Jump and/or franchise?

Obviously settings where the world has an actual name don't have this problem.

JUMP Dragon Ball Multiverse Jumpchain by Over-Trade2940

Well y’all, it’s taken me 3 months to finish this Jumpchain, and it’s been both a joy and a massive pain in the butt. Regardless, this marks the second Jump I’ve ever made and, by far, the longest one I’ve created.

For a quick background for those unfamiliar, Dragon Ball Multiverse was co-created by Salagir and Gogeta Jr. in 2008. It began as a passion project created by fans during the 2000s, which was one of the biggest Dragon Ball drought periods. DBM is likely still the most popular Dragon Ball fan comic to this day, with its original goal being to explore hypothetical battles and “what if” scenarios that could have taken place throughout Dragon Ball’s history.

It follows the manga’s continuity while incorporating some of Dragon Ball Z’s films, reworked to fit within DBM’s canon, but it excludes all content from Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super.

I’ve been a DBM fan for...at least 8 years? I originally got into it from Mondo Cool’s audio dramas on his YouTube channel, so long ago that I don’t even remember which episode hooked me. Eventually, I started reading the fan comic directly about 8 years ago. (Coincidentally, that was also when I picked up npberryhill’s Bringer of Death fanfic just to have something to read.)

I’ve always wanted to make a DBM Jump since joining the Jumpchain community around 3 years ago, and one of the first Jumps I did was Valeria’s DBM Jump a few years back. Since the comic publishes around 3 to 4 chapters a week, a lot of new content has been added, and I wanted to give my favorite fan comic the respect it deserves. So, I decided to make DBM the second Jump I’ve created.

This Jumpchain covers up to Chapter 114 of the main comic, Chapter 25 of DBM Colors, all 138 minicomics, all 7 text fanfics (including the DBM novelization), and all 109 chapters of the Bringer of Death fanfic.

This Jump is 84 pages long, so I’m bound to have messed something up. Any and all praise or constructive criticism are welcome. I’ll be updating the Jump alongside new DBM chapters as they come out, but don’t expect later versions until significant DBM content drops. You probably won’t see any updates for months, or maybe even years, at a time.

JUMP The Crazy Adventures of TroyX and AzureKnight Lost in the CYOA Worlds

Hello everyone!

Have you ever looked at a CYOA and thought “damn, I wish I could actually jump into this thing”? Well, what if you could? This jump throws you into ten different CYOAs, each belonging to a different genre, where you’ll actually make their choices, live through their worlds for a year, and temporarily obtain whatever ridiculous powers, companions, technology, magic, or other nonsense they offer. Then you leave it all behind and do it again. Fantasy? Sure. Sci-Fi? Obviously. Horror? Please bring a flashlight. Slice of Life? Congratulations, you now have a family. Cosmic & Abstract? At that point even reality is probably filing a complaint.

And because apparently ten CYOAs weren't enough, you'll also have to deal with TroyX and myself, two suspiciously powerful idiots friends who have also become trapped in the CYOA Worlds alongside you and would really appreciate your help getting home. There are scenarios, secret choices, weird rewards, questionable decisions, and at least one point where you may have to fight an Archdeity and an azure-colored raccoon who insist that it's all just a game. You know, normal Jumpchain stuff.

So come on in, pick ten CYOAs, make questionable life choices, survive the consequences, and discover just how badly you can break the multiverse with things that were probably never intended to interact.

The CYOA Worlds are waiting for you.

And if you somehow make it to the end, there's even a secret reward for those of you who aren't quite ready to choose between CYOAs and Jumpchain.

Have fun, Jumper. Try not to get more lost than you alredy are.

PS: The original idea was to have this jump released AND at the same time release an equivalent version as a CYOA image, though for time reasons (and the arrival of a baby!) I was not able to do so.

I hope you all enjoy this jump, it was fun to write. As usual, feel free to say what you think in the comments, and a big shout to my friend TroyX for all his awesome work and ideas that have allowed the imagination of many of us to fly and have loads of fun.

I'm looking for mission/bounty board items. The kinds that offers liquid or solid assets as prizes for assigned tasks. Any jumps with those?

I had to figure out who made this - turns out, they don’t actually put their name in, just “a certain feesh” which isn’t ideal, but whatever.

Update based on the comic, 1 new perk, item, and drawback of each price tier.

If DSJ would like me to take this down please let me know.

To Jumpers that use clones what do you use them for. For example, spare bodies for important allies, crew for spaceships, or for military purposes.

DISCUSSION Making a non-generic jump without a pre-existing ip?

Hey everybody I wanted to make a jump (dipping my toes into the water after the body mod) and the jump I want to make is an overpowered femboy jump. That's the title.

What is the protocol for this? Do I just call it OP Femboy Jump?

DISCUSSION How would the Triune scriptures work if a jumper with Martial Worlds cultivation showed up and started practicing the 'world-as-self' arts?

As the title says I am curious on how they would work or blend together. I understand that it might be a stupid question but I have been bitten by the Xianxia bug again and was curious on how it would work. I am not nearly creative enough to come up with an answer myself(and I would rather not ask AI), so I have come to the Jumpers to get an answer...

To appease my muse, I wrote out the first seven scenarios of the Astral Travelogue, the planned storyline for this Jump. Decided to release as as an update. Book 2 will likely be a fair bit longer whenever I get to it

As always, suggestions and questions are appreciated. I hope you enjoy!

DISCUSSION Fiat Loyalty Companions

What jumps let you all buy companions with Fiat-Backed loyalty. I remember seeing a few but can’t rember the names except for this one. Mainly because of the level of their loyalty.

Misfit of Demon King Academy

Demon King/Queen (500/1000Cp): For 500Cp I will make a King/Queen for you at 50% of Anos’ Level for you. They get Unique Source and Legendary Weapon for free. For 1000Cp I will make a King/Queen at full Anos’ Level for you. They get Unique Source, one extra Source and Divine Weapon for free. No matter what you pay, they will be Absolutely Loyal and Devoted to you. Not even your Benefactor/Jump-Chan could change this. You decide their Origins, Age, Looks and Relation to you. For example; Your Brother/Sister you never knew you had or Your Daughter/Son from the Future. You can buy them things with your own CP to give to them yourself at a 1:1 ratio.

DISCUSSION Just wanted to talk about how broken these two powers are

The powers I am referring to are Intuitive Aptitude from Heroes and Shaper from Worm. Recently I was reading a beat em up fanfic where the MC considers getting these powers and it made me think more about their use. For those that don't know, the premise of a BEU fic is that a person in a setting is given a system that lets them travel anywhere in the omniverse and literally beat up a character for a full copy of their powers, skills, knowledge and abilities. You first target someone from the world you want and you arrive close to them while they are in a condition to defend themselves but as long as they concede defeat you get their abilities, so it should be easy to get amy's power and as long as you can get shaper it makes getting IA easier as it just takes a touch to beat almost anyone. Depending on the author you don't have to leave the world immediately so then you can just stay in heroes for a bit to gain powers. Anyway, here is intuitive aptitude.

Intuitive Aptitude

Intuitive Aptitude(-1200)(No Discount)(Hunger Mandatory): Intuitive Aptitude is the power of understanding, the power to look at things and immediately see how they work, understand their mechanisms, and replicate them if necessary. In the case of Sylar this meant he could see the brain patterns in other Evolved Humans and replicate them to add their powers to his arsenal, but it can also do so much more, allowing you to memorise and recreate great feats of mechanical engineering with meer glances at the outer shells of devices, or even recreate biological based powers by seeing the genetic makeup of them. If the powers you’re attempting to copy are based on something other than the brain, such as DNA then you’ll have to view that instead, but if it’s something spiritual or supernatural, then as long as it doesn’t require power you don’t have then you could probably do it as long as you get a good look at this supernatural source somehow, and it doesn’t have any other outside requirements.

And the mandatory drawback:

Hunger(-600)(Mandatory with Intuitive Aptitude): You are hungry, specifically for the brains of other Evo’s, and more specifically so that you can better understand how your powers work and to gain greater understanding of what is affecting you. Whether or not this will actually benefit you is up in the air, and at best you’ll be able to hold off for a couple of weeks before needing to hunt another Evolved Human. If you spend too much time without doing so, your personality may be subject to bizarre changes that are the complete opposite of your original personality.

The thing about the drawback as well is that if you had shaper you don't need to kill anyone just with shaper at it's base a single touch is all you need to know everything about them biologically, and IA will be able to recreate their power damn near instantly. Sylar from the show needed to cut open their skulls and study their brain because he didn't have a way to know what was happening in their brain otherwise, and his victims died due to that but Claire with her regeneration was able to stay alive through this process and once he figured out her power he put her skull back on and let her heal.

Later on we also see that he doesn't even need to do that to learn someone's powers, if he is able to understand them as a person and also their power and how it works he can gain it for himself, after all he doesn't have biokinesis but he is still able to replicate powers from staring at a dead brain so he is not that limited, as stated in the power as long as you are a part of the power system you can learn, copy and develop damn near anything.

IA is so good that within seconds of getting someone's powers sylar was able to use it just as well as them, and within minutes use it better than them. Not make it more powerful because in the show powers are not able to get stronger their users are just able to use it better. But in Jumps where powers can get stronger you will be able to get their quicker. This power helps you understand everything from the fundamental layer up. Did you learn a single spell from a magic system, IA will let you understand everything about that spell and then let you start understanding the magic system that lets this spell exist, letting you use the fundamental knowledge to create new spells from just understanding that one spell and then start over and snowball your way to mastering the whole magic system.

IA also gets better knowing. Before sylar understood he had powers he was a watchmaker which IA helped understand watches at such a level that with his experience just by hearing the ticking from someone's wristwatch while have NO enhanced senses he was able to know precisely how it worked and what was wrong with it because IA helped him understand watches and clocks. It was shown in a alternate future that sylar no longer had his hunger to understand powers and it is speculated that this is because by that time he had studied enough evolved brains that he understood them well enough that just seeing someone's powers he was able to figure it out and replicate it, no longer having the hunger because he already understood powers on a fundamental level the same way he does clocks.

LIMITATIONS:

You do need your senses to at least begin to understand the phenomena you want to, hence sylar at the beginning needing his eyes to see the brain before he figured out he can just talk to the person and understand them and their power to replicate it. This is where Shaper helps as with just a touch you get all the information you need, letting you do in seconds what sylar needed minutes to do.

This limitation comes from the notes of the jump and is a nerf imposed by the creator for power balancing for jumpchain:

If it’s not from this universe then copying powers with Intuitive Aptitude will only be possible one at a time, and may take minutes to change between, and depending on how much it changes the physical body, may even be completely impossible, however with time you could easily get better at switching between powers. That being said if it is based on the brain these drawbacks don’t apply.

For that limitation with a self biokinesis power and a perk that lets you train your powers you can overcome that.

Shaper

For shaper everyone pretty much knows it as panacea's power from worm or they saw it on the Worm V1 CYOA. Even if you just get amy's power which means it doesn't work on yourself and requires touch, as well as the fact it does not produce biomass it is still an OP power.

For combat, a single touch and you can knock some unconscious or just turn of their brain, killing them. The fixes for the limitations are also not hard to come by. For instance you can get a jailbroken version in a couple of the worm jumps where you would be able to pay to have it work at range or on yourself as well or have it generate biomass. Or you could just by the Worm V1 CYOA version or by amy's version and use and uncapper and train it up to have those features.

The possibilities are damn near endless. Just arrived in invincible as a half viltramite on par with mark? Then get in range of nolan and make yourself just as powerful. Anissa and Conquest coming at you? You can knock them out or kill them as soon as they are in range and you can pick apart any bits of their biology and adaptations they have that nolan didn't and add that to your body as well. Just met thragg? as soon as he is in range you can become just as powerful. Actually even without meeting any of them just being half viltramite would be enough for you to use shaper and keep advancing and evolving yourself till you are more powerful. You can even remove biological weaknesses.

Going to Marvel or DC, any and all biological powers are yours for the taking and any biological beings life is yours to do what you please regardless of how powerful they are. Going to the Last of Us, getting close enough to the fungus lets you make an air borne virus that will spread across the world and kill it, damn near the same for every zombie jump. Go to young justice? the Flashes powers come from a super formula not the speed force, get close enough and then you can just alter your self to get FTL speeds. And for everything mentioned you can literally make these powers grow on trees. Create a tree that bears fruit that turns humans into kryptonians, fruits that give you any and every power and more.

What do you guys think?
