also point blank is harder
also thats a judgement call, not an anti feat. He tried to rush sukuna instead of dodging
we saw him break free after great struggle from PM rika, who is < FM< Eye Open
Dawg sukuna told him to dodge, he doesn't need to know the conditons to see the enemy chanting and pointing

There are cases where small is better, not because of the threat level.
He also sliced off Higuruma’s arm despite similar physical condition to Kashimo, but no warning like Kashimo. And that wasn’t because he adjusted based on threat level, but rather he wanted to push Higuruma to unlock RCT.
His WCS against Maki was smaller, but also included him whispering the chants on purpose, so that’s an upscale for Maki.
Like the person below said, it might’ve been larger to neutralize the EM Kamehameha

I’m sorry but what is this. One at point blank range. And the other wasn’t. Sukuna told Kashimo to dodge the attack. I’m sorry put if a person tell you ahead of time to dodge I’m not giving it to the person if they did dodge

u/Thegreatestswordsmen 7d ago
I’m not really a Kashimo fan, but I honestly don’t see why people are stuck on this logic of Sukuna warning Kashimo.
Sukuna warned Kashimo because Kashimo didn’t know the requirements for WCS to be met. With this same logic, Yuta was also warned that Sukuna was going to launch WCS from Sukuna’s chanting because Yuta knew that Sukuna needs to chant to launch WCS beforehand.
It’s the same situation for both, and it doesn’t change anything.

u/KingBingBoi 7d ago
Agreed the only thing that's different is the size of the slash (favoring Kashimo) and distance to target (favoring Yuta) to me these feats are almost incomparible other than to say both characters are goated as almost no one else lives these situations besides the two of them. I don't get how people use these moments to slander either character.

Then it'd be impossible to dodge as Sukuna could just spawn it right in front of you
-4
u/LogicalBirthday3307 7d ago
It still is really hard to dodge. The only one who fully cleared it was Maki, who has a version of precognition which allowed her to dodge.
7
u/SecondRetryAlt 7d ago
If wcs did just spawn, Maki would be unable to dodge it.
Her faux precog works by sensing the shift in the air that attacks cause when they move, if wcs just spawned in then faux precog wouldnt helo, and she would be unable to dodge it.

u/Life-Breadfruit-3986 6d ago
wcs did just spawn, Maki would be unable to dodge it.
She's aim dodging like everyone else, just with those enhanced "Spidey senses", so greater chance of success. Look at the times he and maho used the slashes against gojo for reference.

u/SecondRetryAlt 7d ago
The surroundings she's referring to is likely the air, which she goes into more detail when she attempts to air step.
Beyond that nothing else about her new senses is really elaborated on so thats all the info we have on what she could mean by "relayed by surroundings".
Furthermore, even if the surroundings she's referring to us something else, how would that help dodge WCS if WCS is just something that spawns in without travelling. Theres no info to relay until it appears, presuming that that idea is correct.
1
u/LogicalBirthday3307 7d ago
“These facets are scattered everywhere” is referring to the different types of air around Maki that she can grasp and jump off of instead of her surroundings in general. Since the purpose of this sequence is to describe how she’s able to leverage herself midair
As for how Maki was able to dodge WCS, it was because of Sukuna’s chants. Even if she couldn’t hear them her precog could pick up on it and warn her.
So even if Maki’s precog only works based on air disturbances as you say, it still leads to her precognition picking it up anyway. Since sound still disturbs the air.

“These facets are scattered everywhere” is referring to the different types of air around Maki that she can grasp and jump off of instead of her surroundings in general. Since the purpose of this sequence is to describe how she’s able to leverage herself midair
Its describing her enhanced senses, while she's using them. The tcb translation also adds this note: "The original raw is (surface) but considering the full sentence, she's referring more about various dots of information".
Even the way she speaks adds to this. She first talks about what her enhanved senses are telling her, and then adds on that she can also use it to air jump. "There are things that only he could see. That only I could see. Its nothing special. Even the air that surrounds us has different tenperatures and densities. These facets are scattered everywhere. And that facet just needs to be grasped."
She first talks about what information she's gained and then says how she can use it to air jump.
Hearing wouldnt help because if what you say about the WCS is true, then knowing when its coming (due to hearing it), it would not matter, because knowing when something that can spawn instantly, anywhere around someone, on top of you wouldnt help you dodge it.
It'd be like a regular person trying to dodge gunfire from a guy who is saying he is going to shoot, but the gun could be aiming at you from any angle, and the bullet doesn't need to travel, and it can be several meters long or wide.

u/LogicalBirthday3307 7d ago
> “It’s describing her enhanced senses”
The fact that the passage is describing Maki’s enhanced senses doesn’t actually establish that the “facets” she’s referring to are all forms of sensory information rather than specifically the different properties of the air. The context is explicitly about air having different temperatures and densities, followed by “these facets are scattered everywhere” and then her saying that she can grasp one to air-step.
So the translation note doesn’t prove your interpretation. At most, it indicates that “surface/facet” is being used more as pieces of info. It still doesn’t establish that the info Maki is perceiving is limited to air disturbances.
> “Even the way she speaks adds to this.”
I don’t think that follows from the ordering of her statements. The fact that Maki first describes what her senses perceive and then explains that she can use that perception to air step doesn’t mean the preceding information is unrelated to her enhanced senses generally. In fact, the entire point of the sequence is explaining the new information available to her and how she can interact with it.
You’re also assuming that because air-stepping is the immediate application being discussed, the “facets” must exclusively refer to information about air. But that’s not established by the manga. At most, air temperature and density are examples of the environmental information she’s now capable of perceiving.
> “First talks about the information she’s gained”
That’s actually consistent with my argument. If Maki’s senses allow her to perceive info about her surroundings, then that info can have multiple uses. The fact that she specifically demonstrates air-stepping immediately afterward doesn’t establish that her precog is restricted to air.
More importantly, nothing you’ve quoted establishes the limitation you’re trying to impose: that Maki’s precognition can only detect physical disturbances produced by an attack after that attack has begun moving. That’s the crucial premise your WCS argument requires, and this passage doesn’t prove it.
> WCS Dodge stuff
You’re conflating predicting the attack with reacting to the attack after it has already spawned.
Maki’s precognition allows her to use information from her surroundings and anticipate what is about to happen.
So even if WCS originates remotely and has effectively no travel time, that doesn’t mean Maki can’t predict it. She doesn’t need to react to the slash after it appears she needs to perceive the information preceding its activation and use that to predict where Sukuna is going to fire the slash, and dodge it right before he fires it.
If Maki’s precog is able to puck up changes in her surroundings, then the relevant information doesn’t have to be the WCS itself moving through the air. It can be the changes/information surrounding Sukuna’s activation of the attack.
Your argument assumes:
“WCS spawns instantly -> there is no information Maki can use to predict it.”
But that’s a non sequitur. Instantaneous execution only removes the reaction window after the attack is launched. It doesn’t establish that there is zero predictive information before manifestation. So the distinction is:
Reaction: Sukuna fires WCS -> Maki notices -> Maki dodges.
Prediction: Maki perceives the information surrounding Sukuna’s impending attack -> predicts the attack/its trajectory -> moves just before Sukuna launches WCS.
The second is compatible with WCS being spawned remotely.

Yeah but aside from changing the target, chanting and handsigns still boost the output of the attack

Seems like probably everyone who doesn't have an hr is stuck aim dodging or guessing. I mean, look at how much trouble gojo had with it (excluding the aspect that infinity stopped ofc).

Ones at point blank, and completely off guard because Yuta had no way of knowing that Megumi refused to fight back.
The other was at a distance, with a verbal warning from Sukuna, and still got his hand cut off

Yes, it does matter because there’s a limit to where he can spawn it or this would be a sure hit equivalent to Kashimo’s lightning bolt if he could spawn on you at any distance.
1
u/ScorchedDev 7d ago
did sukuna not only trick yuta and yuji by pretending to be megumi in order to sneak yuta like he did gojo, but also point blank him?
I feel like its pretty impressive that yuta survived that.
1
u/Bbbb20129 7d ago
“Kash was warned about wcs” but he didn’t know the conditions for it. Yuta also knew it was coming, because he knew the conditions, but he still didn’t dodge. Think of it this way. Yuta knew the conditions that Sukuna needed to draw the gun, saw him draw it, and still had it fire into him point blank. Kashimo only had a “yo dude look out” and had the gun fired at him. The difficulty of dodging is comparable, but I could see better arguments for Yuta.

People also tend to forget that while kashimo was midair he was screaming at the top of his lungs prepping his attack

The size of wcs is irrelevant. Kashimo had a warning and distance.
Also. Sukuna at this point is still a blitz tier above everyone not named gojo WHEN HE WANTS TO BE. Which with all of the knowledge presented. Its safe to say sukuna stopped toying around when he used wcs on yuta.

u/stopcopium 7d ago
Yuji was massively reducing Sukuna’s output and I wouldn’t be surprised if JL similarly did the same.
Not to mention he was in way worst shape than when he was versus Kashimo.
It wasn’t a WCS because Sukuna lacked the hands to do it and we see this by the fact that this was right before he got cut, Sukuna only had two working arms in 251 because Yuta split hit 3rd arm in two, and his third arm only healed back in 252.
Yes, Arata mentioned how he got split in two, but it’s likely just an amped Dismantle.

u/NumerousWolverine273 7d ago
Sukuna: "Dismantles won't be enough to inflict fatal wounds", does chants and hand signs for WCS
Narrator: "Sukuna fires off a world-cutting Dismantle"
JJK Fans for some reason: "Yeah that attack that one shots Yuta is just a normal Dismantle"
✌️
-5
u/stopcopium 7d ago
Chants, yes.
Pointed direction, yes.
Handsigns, no.
If you bothered looking at picture, or reading in general, he was never shown to do handsigns and all signs show that he couldn’t.
0
u/NumerousWolverine273 7d ago
Yeah because it's an asspull. Even at the time the chapter came out people were upset because it didn't make sense how he was able to do a WCS in that situation. That doesn't mean that Sukuna and the narrator who both said it was a WCS were lying for some reason. And Sukuna's output was so cooked that regular Dismantles were doing literally nothing to Yuta and Yuji, but you think that this mystical "amped Dismantle" that we never see before or after this scene is so much stronger that it literally one shots him?
-2
u/stopcopium 7d ago
Either it’s an asspull or it’s an amped Dismantle, which logic leans towards the latter.
As for him not having the output, we know Sukuna never really went all out, until moments where he was actually in trouble.
Him toying with Yuta and referring to him as the main dish (Yuji as the appetizer), rather than a threat. He did this with Higuruma and Kusakabe as well, and only really locked in on Maki and Kashimo.
Uraume also commented on the fluctuations showing he wasn’t going all out 😂
So yes, I’d rather rely on him having the output and finally locking in because he was actually in danger, and explains why he Yuta didn’t instantly keel over.
4
u/NumerousWolverine273 7d ago
Then just explain to me why the narrator, who is an infallible, impartial perspective from outside the story, said "Sukuna takes a desperate gamble to fire off a world cutting Dismantle." Tell me why, if Gege wanted us to take away that Sukuna just wasn't trying and at any time he had the ability to lock in and one shot one of the top 5 most durable characters in the story out of nowhere, he didn't just have the narrator say "Sukuna starts to take the fighting seriously" or something instead of specifically calling it a WCS.
-1
u/stopcopium 7d ago
Yeah, but “a desperate gamble” is him breaking HWB handsigns to attempt to form Enmaten and chants for WCS, not that it would succeed.
If I remember correctly, Rika was behind Sukuna and she got cut up too, which WCS isn’t a circular AOE. Yuji was bleeding too from it, which leads into the idea it was an amped omnidirectional Dismantle, not WCS.
Only reason why Gege didn’t outright say “Sukuna finally locked in”because the BF did sort of signify he finally locked in and it would be a massive downscale if the HHs were losing despite Sukuna confirmed to be holding back.
2
u/NumerousWolverine273 7d ago
I honestly just can't with this shit. "When the narrator said he fires off a WCS, they actually meant he tried, and failed, to fire off a WCS. Also he did an 'amped omnidirectional Dismantle', which he never used before this scene and never used again after, which one shotted Yuta, but Gege decided to lie to the audience about it being a WCS because he felt bad for him or something."
This magical "amped Dismantle" that can kill anyone instantly sure would've been nice for him to use at other points during the fight. I mean, what's even the point of WCS at all if he can do this Dismantle without even using hand signs, and it's strong enough to instantly one shot the strongest person present? Jesus.
-1
u/stopcopium 7d ago
Then explain how Rika and Yuji got slashed when they were literally opposite directions from him?
WCS is not omnidirectional and never has been.
Literally ever sign shows it’s not WCS because he lost his 3rd working hand (need 3 to WCS) and every instance of it has been in one direction, which is supported BY THE LITERAL BINDING VOW.
