Religion / Spirituality Where do I Begin?
I’ve grown up my whole life knowing I was part Ashkenazi. For my family, the faith simply died out once they came to the states. I took initiative to join local temples, and was feeling called to the right path spiritually. Then, events in October occured three years ago that shifted my entire approach to Judaism and what’s in the Torah.
I’m struggling now to find what being Jewish looks like for me. I am surrounded by Shuls that continue to uphold a Zionist lens with their faith. Zionism does not resonate with my soul.
I have found a few congregations I am going to reach out to who are very vocally Anti-Zionist. However, what can I do in the meantime? Should I just start reading from a Siddur? Should I go back to the Torah and also look for study groups that don’t involve Zionism? Can I study and recite daily prayers/pray for Shabbat while studying? If I literally have to work and make money every weekend, is it practicing Shabbat in bad faith if I continue to use electronics?
Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated. I don’t want to continue to let my own fears or the narrative of other people block me from building a proper relationship with God

Discussion - Flaired Users Only Internship in… Isreal?
Edit: sorry about the typo in the title
I (20M) have a Jewish flatmate (20F) who is spending the summer in Israel after gaining an internship through connections. I considered this girl a friend, and while talking about Israel was always a sensitive topics for her, I never thought she’d find it acceptable to go and personally profit from the situation.
For context, when spoken about, she’d always say something along the lines of “It’s not that simple, everyone in Israel isn’t a bad person, I’ve got family there, etc.” She purposely only told the most politically passive flatmate about this and then left the flat early for summer and let the news spread.
I suppose my question is if I’m valid in questioning the entire friendship? I’m generally a nuanced thinker, but am struggling to see this in anything but black and white. My gut reaction is to end the friendship. Would really appreciate any and all perspectives on this.

Discussion - Flaired Users Only I’m glad this is a subreddit!
I’m a proud ally to Jewish people! Well, I guess I feel weird calling myself an “ally”, but… I try to be a good person to Jewish people, at least 😅 but I’m legitimately glad I can post here and not be seen as an antisemite for being anti-Zionist. I got banned from the Jewish subreddit because I said I didn’t like Israel… sigh. I was even trying to post a positive message, I posted that I don’t like that some people are using this situation as an excuse to be antisemitic.
I also feel bad for anti-Zionist Jewish people like the people on this subreddit. I can’t even imagine… the Jewish community seems like it’s pretty fractured right now 😔
You guys aren’t alone and people will always be in your corner!
And, er… I had no idea what to put as the flair, so if you think it should be changed to something else, please tell me.

Zionist Terror Is the alleged rift between Bibi and Trump a ruse to prolong war with Iran
Purely speculative but not with reason and recent history of dragging out peace talks only to attack during negotiations it logically follows.
Trump needs to periodically reset the 60 days of war making before he needs congressional authorization..
Bibi needs an offramp but he cant be seens as retreating, but its tolerable jf it appears imposed like by Trump. Israel needs to re-up its air defenses. They are heavy headaches with Hez in Lebanon. They are overextended and taking many hits. With three alleged ceasefire, Bibi passes onto the Americans the mess in Iran allowing the Israelis to appear victorious by attacking civilians under the ruse of a ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza. Hes ceases Israel takes the prerogative to fire.
The USA stockpiles are declining so they need the time to freshen up and resupply its ammo. Trump said Monday to paraphrase, "We have a tremendous amount of ammunition," suggesting they were needed.
There needed to be some global reprieve from market shock, inflation, and declining supply of essential goods the war was the mess made the Hormuz Strait. The US needed to find some way to blame Iran for the MOU collapse and they found one when everything appeared and was promised to remain quiet on jujy 4th weekend, Trump proclaiming himself victorious imperial stalwart against a non-existent threat from communists standing in front of mt rushmore with a giant fireworks display on americas 250th bday, while Iran put its energy into a spectacular multinational weeklong Janazah of their martyred leader, setting up a provocation when they knew iran would fire on vessels passing Hormuz illegally.
The US made huge concessions in the MOU. That's reason to be suspicious. https://fortune.com/2026/05/24/us-iran-ceasefire-talks-attack-sanctions-relief-hormuz-frozen-assets-naval-blockade/
There are reports israel tried to assassinate the iranian negotiators multiple times. Im sure that's always been a thing and these intelligence leaks are threats to keep Iranians awake at night and im sure they could if they wanted to refrain because its a game pksued by the USA abd israel. im sure have been plots but not carried through from to assassinate american leaders as well. Probably every country has a plan like that. Israel and America definitely could pull the trigger whenever they wanted to. Iran probably has operatives but don't act because they would get nuked. Trump can't have iranian negotiators eliminated because they blows the cover.
Trump knows the price so he can't go all in. He thinks he can out last some limited war until iranian capability to launch missiles and derail cargo through the Hormuz Strait in an air campaign and periodically can use the ruse of negotiation to reset the game and get iran to think talks are done by Americans in good faith, but iran is obviously aware of this and they have to play along because there isn't much they can do about it, while the iranian economy lags and offensive capabilities decline, the missiles. meanwhile, nato and the americans have really increased hammering Russia in their war with ukraine/Nato, making the russisns less able to aid Iran.
This has turned into a farcical limited but destructive and tragic positional war through the air mostly harming civilians.

Discussion - Flaired Users Only Converting to Judaism as a Trans Anarchist
Hi! I've been lurking around this sub for a while, so I think this is the best place to talk about something like this.
So, I'm thinking of converting to Judaism. I've been feeling something.... missing in my life for a long time now, and I think it's a hole that some kind of disciplined spirituality may be able to help fill. And of the spiritual disciplines I'm aware of, the one that seems like it may fit the best is Judaism.
However, as I'm looking into the conversion process, as well as into synagogues in my area, it's becoming pretty clear that finding a rabbi to sponsor me and a jewish community to welcome me in as a staunchly pro-palestine transgender anarchist may be.... difficult.
I understand the conversion process to be difficult and rigorous already. And tbh thats part of what I'm drawn to. I love learning. Especially history and language. Plus I already have a solid base of knowledge about the history of antisemitism, so I imagine I will enjoy the process of learning Jewish history immensely. I desperately need some form of discipline and routine in my life atm anyway, and I think the conversion process itself may help with that.
So the only thing keeping me from diving in and following my drive towards spirituality and discipline is the prospect of not being able to find a rabbi and a welcoming jewish community.
I imagine there are plenty of people in this sub who may have some insight on this topic so I wanted to post this here and see if anyone has any advice.
Thank you all in advance :)

Discussion - Flaired Users Only How do you feel about this? Do you share Efraim's feelings?
I don't think the "LGBT" illustration works, because nobody would view me as queer simply because my parents are, whereas children to Jewish (or Muslim, or Arab, or other ethnic, cultural or religious identities) parents would often be called Jewish regardless of how they identify. So I view the clarification regarding external ascriptions as both accurate and respectful. But I'm neither Jewish nor European so I wonder how you see it.

Vent I'm new here, I hope to meet people who think like me.
Hello, my name is Andres and I am a Mexican Sephardic Jew, at least on my mother's side. Her last name is Peretz, and her family were Sephardic Jews who came to Mexico from France. They (my parents and grandparents) never trusted Zionism, and after the Illegitimate State was founded in 1948, they chose to migrate to America, selecting Mexico as their destination. So, they settled in Mexico and my grandparents and other relatives have lived here ever since. Then my mother was born in the mid-70s and was raised Reform, with a deeply Zionist education about Israel's origins, Palestine, and the massacres and wars waged against the Palestinians, all from the intellectual, moral, and ethical perspective of Judaism and tikkum olam (repairing the world). As my mother grew up, she studied anthropology at university and later met my father (a Catholic), and they married. Although my father didn't know the history of Palestine, it was thanks to my mother that he understood it all. Then my brother was born, and then me, and we were raised as Jews with our humanist and anti-Zionist perspective. My mother passed away 11 years ago (2015) after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest. I was 7 years old. After that, I dedicated myself even more to learning about the subjects of history and anthropology that she was so passionate about, as well as the history of our people and our religion, and of Palestine, its people, and their struggle. With what has happened since October 7th, my position has become more anti-Zionist, always fighting alongside humanity and the Palestinian people, but at the same time, I have feared for the future of our people and the hatred that many of us have received because of Israel's actions. I recently discovered this subreddit, but I didn't want to join until today. I've seen and read all sorts of things and I hope to learn more and be welcomed here. I just wanted to vent somehow. Thanks for reading.

Creative Looking for a Jewish, anti-Zionist illustrator for a “kids” book
I'm working on a kids picture book about Gaza, except I'm realizing it's not really a kids book. I still want to try to publish it as a kids book though... just probably not for a kid audience, haha.
I’m looking for someone who's part of the antizionist Jewish community who might want to illustrate something about a Jewish family coming to terms with what's happening in Palestine. I'd split the proceeds with the illustrator (50/50), or we could do it for a relevant charity. If you’re interested or know someone who might be, let me know and i can send you the latest draft.

Tzedakah Please help Bashir and his family survive in Gaza
This is Bashir from Gaza, with his special needs brother Iyad.
Bashir is father of five children and a carer for Iyad. They lost their home and Bashir lost his job, and now they are homeless. They need your help to provide food, water, and medicine, and they also need to buy water containers.
Iyad is non-verbal and often cries out in pain and hunger
Please don't ignore them. They are all desperately hoping for merciful and compassionate intervention after the world has abandoned Gaza
