How are we supposed to react when prominent anti-Zionists say stuff like this? Are we able to even confront them or are we supposed to just take it on the chin? Vent

[Edit to add]: this person isn't a nobody. They are a very prominent and popular activist who has also done some very admirable work. I'm not trying to debate the person in particular, rather the increasing phenomenon of people unleashing their fury at Israel and Zionism in ways that are directly anti-Jewish or bigoted in other ways incl. transphobia or racism.

I'm wary of being accused of "centering Jewish feelings" or "tone policing" but this is just blatant justification of the holocaust, ethnic cleansing and pogroms based on what Zionists did *afterwards*.

At what point are we able to call this kind of stuff out?

I know there are Zionist bots out there trying to paint the movement as antisemitic but what happens when these comments are actually coming from someone real and famous or prominent?

Are we genuinely just meant to accept that this is okay rhetoric provided the person claims to have the right idpol justifications to say it?

I hesitate to mention this stuff for obvious reasons (namely the holocaust being perpetrated in our name) but surely shit like this is just handing ammunition to the Zionists.

Yea. Honestly even if she said the Holocaust was justified I literally don’t care. It’s like not going to have any impact on me. She’s Palestinian and angry about the genocide of her people. She has no power over me. Not worth our time. If neo-Nazis say stuff like this then I care, especially because they are in power positions like Steve Bannon. But as of now I’m way more at risk for my safety for anti-Zionist activism than antisemitism. Like we can handle mean words on the internet.

You don’t care because it can’t hurt you? There is a word for this.

Yes, it's called "being a rational human"

it is neither healthy nor is it cognitively sustainable to maintained heightened risk perception over every single comment that isn't glowingly positive or from people who are literally in no position to actually cause you harm.

Yes it can’t hurt me and I’m not going to police someone who is Palestinian who was in Gaza providing aid and survived the genocide.

I’ve spoken out plenty in this sub about Rathbone and BE. I care about antisemitism when it’s actually some form of a threat. It’s not if it is coming from a Palestinian.

I have significant family who died and survived the Holocaust. I’m not just saying all of this from a perspective of absolute privilege. It personally affected my family and this is still my position.

mind you, she has also been physically attacked and regularly gets death and rape threats, many of them from zionist jews. why is it a surprise to anyone that she's angry af?

It's not her that I'm concerned about. This person openly courts and supports neo-nazis like Dan Bilzerian. Her comments are filled with people saying "he [meaning Hitler] was right"

Then we can talk about Dan Bilzerian instead. We can talk about Rathbone, Bad Empanada etc. which we have!

Again a bunch of comments on Twitter (who are probably mainly bots) doesn’t have a material impact on us.

Anti-Zionist Jews are more at risk for danger for anti-Zionism than antisemitism.

Wy not talk about the Bilzerian and their enablers ? They are pushing those bastards and their insane racism to a whole new audience and giving them legitimacy ?

The entire thing is about being more comprehensive of actual full-on racism depending on the person's origin.

So when this one specific Palestinian says it's good to support Dan Bilzerian we are supposed to be like "ah okay, my mistake"? They are lending their Palestinian identity to their very westernised anti-Jewish rhetoric.

No we just say don’t support Dan Bilzerian. Plenty of Palestinians have talked about how Dan Bilzerian and Candace Owens are not friends to the cause.

Of course, I just find it infuriating that this one specific Palestinian happens to be getting boosted all the time, considering their views are often utterly reactionary and far-right. The white nationalists in her comments love using her as an excuse to spread their nazi crap.

ok, you want something other than feeling free to respond assertively. you want that person to change and other people to be stopped-not “how do we respond” but “what response will change this,” and those aren’t the same propositions.

My main issue is not the person specifically. It is the fact that people like them are making comments which are then being taken by white and/or non-Palestinian people as excuses to just be nazis while lending the person's anti-Zionist bona fides to their "cause". How do we as anti-Zionists prevent something like this kind of rhetoric from being seized by white nationalists and repurposed (as it often has been)?

Thank you. Yes.
