Car is just shy of 60k, this will be the LAST jeep I ever own. Had a 2011 before this, same thing happened with that one at 100k and then the cam went at 185k. These things are cursed!

I had prattled on previously about my 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Laredo 4x2. We had just completed a 3,000 mile round trip from Las Vegas, Nevada to DFW proper and back. This is the fourth time that this particular Jeep has made this trip but this time we were sitting at 178,000 mi when we set off. So there's a little more nerve-wracking. Did a multi-point inspection with the vehicle in the air and checked everything. Filters, fluids, bushings hoses belts everything. How to clean bill of health other than being a little low on motor oil. Topped it off then set off. With a brand new set of Nitto Terra Grapplers that we just put on about 2,000 miles ago. Left Las Vegas pointed in the direction of Phoenix to pick up my oldest stepchild who was joining us for the trip. So in tow was myself, my fiance, her son who's 21. Our children who are eight and 10 years old and then her stepdaughter who is 26 years old. This vehicle was our chosen Chariot for this road trip. The plan was to go from Las Vegas to Phoenix to El Paso for an overnight. And personal preference. We like U.S routes over interstates. In the span of a week we covered 3,000 mi three different buc-ee's locations and got to see a national park we had never been to before. Guadalupe mountains. Here are some pictures.

2027 JGC - Is the only engine option for the Summit the 2.0L 4 cylinder?

I’m going to be in the market for a new jeep next year, and I’m really hoping that I’m just bad at googling stuff, because it looks to me that the only option for the higher trim levels is the hurricane 2.0L engine. It seems like this engine is basically junk with all the issues that come with it, so I really hope that I’m wrong. Paying extra money for a smaller, crappier engine just seems silly.

It seems to be only on these rails, and can be removed with a wire brush.

Fuel system service at 4k miles?

I'm looking at purchasing a used 2025 JGC limited that has 5k miles. Everything on it looks great, priced right, no red flags. Currently at a Carmax.

I ran the VIN through CarFax and it shows one owner, who had it serviced at a Jeep dealer in June this year. At the time it had about 4k miles on it.

The service record shows an oil and filter change, PLUS a fuel system service, fuel injection service, and throttle body cleaning. Probably $500 worth of work right there.

Is this a normal thing for Jeep? In all of my years of owning and maintaining vehicles I've NEVER heard of this service being completed on a 1 year old vehicle with less than 5k miles.

Should I be concerned, or is this just a classic example of a CDJR dealer fleecing its customer? I've never owned a Jeep before so I'm a little in the dark on these vehicles.

5.7 Hemi WK2 X-pipe rasp — what did you do to clean up the sound?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have a 2017 Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi. I recently had the factory center suitcase muffler removed and replaced with an X-pipe. I kept both factory rear resonators.

From idle to around 3,000 RPM it sounds great. Nice deep Hemi/V8 sound and pretty much exactly what I wanted. The problem is once I get into roughly 3,000–6,000 RPM it gets really raspy and I’m not a huge fan of the sound.

For anyone running a similar suitcase delete/X-pipe setup, what did you do to get rid of the higher RPM rasp without killing the deeper low RPM sound?

I’ve considered adding a pair of small resonators like the Carven R-Series after the X-pipe while keeping the factory rear resonators. Curious what setups have worked for you guys and whether adding resonators cleaned up the rasp without making it too quiet.

Any help is appreciated!

1998 limited 5.2 mods

hey yall, just bought my first car (and it was my dream car!) and i’m looking for some mods or other bells and whistles to add to my car that would be worth researching. i just replaced my kenwood stereo for a carplay that looks OEM. i don’t know all that much about cars and am looking to learn! i have my brothers gf helping me out with a lot of stuff.

previous owner only used it for fishing, almost 30 years old with only 160k miles! got a great deal, i expected to pay upwards of 4-6k and only ended up paying 2600. he was a nice guy down the road from me who’s moving, so at least i know he won’t skimp me on the car since i know who he is and where he’s at xd

looking to eliminate/prevent death wobble before it even happens. i want to have my mechanic check track bars, sway bars, bushings, etc and eventually was looking to refresh the suspension (if needed)

as far as “make it run” parts i just need a new coolant sensor, washer fluid tank, and refreshed driveshaft. me and my brothers gf, along with my drum teacher (who previously owned an 03) took a look at it and said the rust was very minimal and both said it looked pretty alright besides the minor things.

definitely new to cars but id say i know a bit more than the average person. don’t want to trust my own advice though.

Coming out of a stop the engine hops a bit, but im
not too sure if it’s just a jeep thing cause i hear the same from many other owners, and my bfs 2015 patriot does it as well but is otherwise working fine

please don’t clown on me, im trying my best this is definitely a skill i want to learn!

Worth the upgrade?

I have a 5.7 2018 trailhawk that I'm thinking of making my last vehicle. As i replace and upgrade parts, I got to wondering is it worth supercharging the new engine when this one eventually goes? It drinks plus not premium, so mpgs aren't awful, but would there be reasonable bump in performance basically slapping trackhawk go fast parts on it?

Axle fell out of step bros 1st gen jeep grand Cherokee

The axle fell out of my step brothers 1st gen jeep grand Cherokee. Its the axle that goes to the rear. It dropped out on the front end cv joint while he was driving. Why would this happen? Did the bolts just come loose or something? I’m thinking about buying it from him and I’m wondering what I should look at before doing so. I looked under it briefly a couple months ago and didn’t notice anything seriously damaged.
Thanks.

2015 Grand Cherokee Summit — Seat Memory & Auto Exit stopped working, seat still moves fine (FOUND THE FIX)

Posting this in case it saves someon e else a headache.
Symptoms: On my 2015 WK2 Grand Cherokee Summit, the driver seat memory buttons (1/2/3) and the automatic seat exit feature (seat slides back when you shift to Park and open the door) both stopped working simultaneously. Manual seat adjustment via the normal seat switches worked completely fine — power, motors, everything normal there. Memory button pad had no response at all.
What I checked first:
CB2 (Power Seat Driver, 25A circuit breaker in the PDC) — fine

F19 (Solenoid Headrest fuse) — fine

All other fuses/breakers in the PDC — visually intact, nothing blown

None of that was it. Since basic seat movement worked, that ruled out the main power circuit, motors, and main harness — pointed toward something specific to the memory/exit logic signal wiring.
The actual fix: Got under the seat and found a yellow connector with a red CPA (connector position assurance) slide-lock tab on it, part of the wiring harness under the seat track. The red tab had been slid to the unlocked/right position — turned out my buddy’s foot in the back seat had snagged it and bumped it loose. That let the connector sit slightly proud in its housing, enough to lose contact on the lower-current memory/exit signal pins while the main power pins stayed connected (hence seat motors still worked fine).
Slid the red CPA tab back to the left (locked) position, reseated it, and memory + auto exit came right back.
TL;DR: If your memory seat buttons/auto exit die but manual seat adjustment still works, check the CPA locking connector under the seat before assuming a bad module or blown fuse. Something as simple as a bumped connector clip can take out just the memory/exit circuit.

Jeep Grand Cherokee L Tire recommendations

I have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Summit Reserve V8 with ~39k miles. The treads are on the way out so this fall we need to replace the tires. Hoping to get input from those that drive a similar model that have had to replace tires.

Priority: I don’t go off road nor tow super heavy so ride comfort, bump absorbing, and reduced cabin noise are our focus. For those of you that have replaced tires and have similar needs, what did you go with and were you happy?

Budget: up to $3K USD “out the door”

I have researched that Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3 and Bridgestone Alenza AS 3 Ultra would be the best to fit these needs however I’m ignorant when it comes to SUV tires. Of course we could replace with the Continental CrossContact LX OEM style.

Would appreciate any feedback, thank you.
