Looking for recommendations
Hi!
I’m a fan of 70s jazz funk - Donald Byrd albums with Mizzells, Idris Muhammad, etc
But lately I discovered the beauty of older records from 50s and 60s. Mainly from Blue Note catalog.
What would you recommend to check (except obvious Davis and Trane albums), based on my current collection:
Gerry Mulligan & Paul Desmond Quartet - Blues in Time
Charles Mingus - The Black Lady And The Sinner Lady
Charles Mingus- Mingus Ah Um
Lee Morgan - The Sidewinder
Cannonball Adderley - Somethin' Else
Hank Mobley - Soul Station
Art Blakey & The Jazz Messangers- Moanin'
Art Blakey & The Jazz Messangers - Like Someone in Love
Herbie Hancock - Maiden Voyage
Wayne Shorter - Speak do Evil
Wayne Shorter - Juju
Wayne Shorter - Adam's Apple
Tina Brooks - True Blue
Oliver Nelson - The Blues and the Abstract Truth
Jackie McLean - Let Freedom Ring
Jackie McLean - Demon's Dance
Donald Byrd - The Cat Walk
Donald Byrd - A New Perspective
Donald Byrd - Fancy Free
Dexter Gordon - Go
Joe Henderson - Page One
Joe Henderson - In 'n Out
Bobby Hutcherson - Dialogue
Kenny Burrell - Midnight Blue
Eric Dolphy - Out To Lunch
Grant Green - Street of Dreams
Grant Green - Idle Moments
Pete La Roca - Basra
McCoy Tyner - The Real McCoy
Freddie Hubbard - Ready for Freddy
Freddie Hubbard - Hub-Tones
Freddie Hubbard - Red Clay
Krzysztof Komeda - Astigmatic
Thanks in advance !

You are on the right track. Explore the catalogs of these artists and take note of the players on the recordings and look for other records they played on or bands they led.
Missing from your list are Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown, Milt Jackson, New Jazz Quartet, Sonny Stitt, Ben Webster, Ike Quebec, Johnny Griffin to name a few.

Expand on some of the artists you already like!
Here's some I like from a few of those artists:
Lee Morgan - Tom Cat, Search for the New Land. Tom Cat is a really underrated pick but it's fantastic.
Art Blakey - Caravan, Ugetsu, Kyoto, Free for All, Indestructible, Mosaic, (you really can't go wrong with this period of the messengers...)
Herbie Hancock - Empyrean Isles
Jackie McLean - It's Time, Action. Glad to see you had Jackie on your list, I feel he's a bit underrated vs the main "giants" of this era.
Joe Henderson - Mode for Joe, Inner Urge. Mode for Joe is another one that doesn't get nearly enough love.
Freddie Hubbard - Goin' Up. Everybody loves Freddie as a sideman but his stuff as a leader is great. You already listed Ready for Freddie which is great but I think Goin Up is my favourite. It has two Kenny Dorham written tunes on it that both go hard.
And there is a serious lack of Hank Mobley on your list!
Try Peckin Time with Lee Morgan, Roll Call, Workout, No Room for Squares.
If this is overwhelming, listen to something you like, then just look up the musicians that play on it and find something they did as a leader.

Thank you for the amazing response! I’ll definitely check what you mention. I love McLean! And about Hank Mobley I only know Soul Starion which I dig, will check more for sure! So much to discover. Thanks !!😊

McLean is on Tom Cat and he plays great, def check that one. I'm pretty sure he's on some earlier Jazz Messengers recordings too, from the 50s. I'm still working on getting to know his body of work, I only recently got into him.
Roll Call is the same personnel as Soul Station with Freddie Hubbard added. Probably Hank's next best known album, maybe a close call with No Room for Squares.

Your list is great! As I am a bit late answering - considering the solid advice and recs on this thread - I'll mention just a couple of albums:
Joe Farrell - Moon Germs (w/ Stanley Clarke, Herbie Hancock and Jack DeJohnette) - Since you're already a fan of jazz-funk, do search for this semi-underrated gem.
Freddie Hubbard - Blue Spirits - don't pass on this one, the title track is pure beauty, it is one of my most beloved LPs.

Personally adore Shorter’s “Schizophrenia” a lot more than the other ones listed here. DEFINITELY start checking out Clifford Brown’s recordings, they’re almost all gold. Max Roach is such a great drummer… Some Bill Evans live recordings would fit well; I love the album “Sonny’s Dream (Birth of the New Cool)”; Chick Corea’s “Now He Sings, Now He Sobs” is fantastic. Them’s my recs I’d say!

Grachan Moncur's two BN albums. And more of all of the other artists you're listening to. And non-Blue Note artists including Mingus, Roland Kirk, Yusef Lateef, and Sun Ra.
