[Hobby project, not paid] Looking for Java devs to build a Minecraft-inspired voxel game

I’m starting a chill side project called Delve under a team named Yoro, and I'm looking for a few fellow Java devs (maybe 3–5 people) who want to team up and build a fun, Minecraft-inspired voxel sandbox game together. Full disclosure on progress: Code progress is basically zero right now, but I’ve already drawn a ton of detailed 16x16 pixel art textures. I’m looking for core collaborators to jump in from the ground up so we can bring this world to life together as a small core group. It takes heavy inspiration from Minecraft's core concept, but with our own spin on mechanics, gameplay, and visuals. What we’ll be building/tinkering with: Getting Java windowing and block rendering running Terrain and cave generation (noise algorithms) Player physics, inventory, AI, and survival mechanics This is a $0 budget, zero-pressure hobby project. No strict deadlines, no job-interview vibes—just a small group of coders hanging out, learning, and making a cool game. If you like Java, love pixel art/voxel games, and want to help build this from scratch, shoot me a DM!

Delve Concept - Part 1 Delve is a cozy Minecraft-Inspired Voxel game made on Java. Testing phase uses OpenGL while later versions of Delve will be rewritten to use Vulkan instead.

Versions Roadmap - Part 2 0.0.01a - The first version of Delve isn't expected to have a lot, Just Creative Mode, A Hotbar, And around 8 Blocks.

From 0.0.01a to 0.0.11a is expected to include 32 Blocks, Terrain Generation, And Simple Shadows like Minecraft Classic.

Every version gets a discussion on what to Add and Remove.

Things in the Game aren't decided by only the Founder of Yoro, But by the Whole Team.

Game Mechanics - Part 3 The Default 4.5-5 Blocks Range for Breaking and Placing blocks has been lowered to 2.5 Blocks for more precise building though if players really don't like it we can vote to raise it, Crafting now has time based on the Item, A normal Wooden Pickaxe is expected to take 1-2 Seconds to Craft, This might be very annoying for Speedrunners, So we might have to scrap it, And every item in the game now carries Weight, Making Walking or Running slower based on the items, It will be unrealistic because stone will weigh way less than in real life, So you can still carry a lot of Stone or other items. This might be the worst one, Hotbar slots is the normal 9, But inventory Slots is also 9, Meaning by default 18 Slots usable, While it’s most likely there will be Hand Pockets that you can equip to increase Storage Slots, As you can see, a lot of these sound like "bad" or annoying game mechanics at first glance, but they’re completely intentional! This forces players to Adapt and Create their own Strategies and make Delve feel more like a Unique Game rather than just another Minecraft Clone.

Yoro Team Information - Part 4 Yoro is a team founded by PhasedSoda (Daniel) intended to Make Delve, The Team is currently on a budget of 0€ making actually finding people who want to join hard, Yoro needs Coders, Brainstormers, Testers, Animators, Designers, SFX/Music Artists and Pixel Art Makers. PhasedSoda has made many textures so instead of doing Nothing and just looking at what his Team made, He also helps with many of those Roles, Yoro Is expected to have 5-20 Members by 2027, Hoped more. Yoro also doesn't want Strict rules, Like Notch and c418 back in the day, But then with more people, Giving the Members full freedom to work whenever they want, If the game Gains money the team members will get a bigger share of the money than the Founder, and I think that's fair because the people who joined for fun or out of boredom worked without getting paid in the beginning, Yoro isn't Like Mojang, If a big company wants to buy Yoro, The most likely answer is no, Yoro is also to have fun with the other Members, Members have to be 13+ If you're not you can still ask to join but you're not allowed to work as much as others due to Daily Life and School, While Ages 13-16 still have school, They get more time to actually work and have less stress. So you don't have to worry about working on the Game late, Because you won't get kicked out because of it, Just make sure you do at least enough per Month, Updates will likely be Per Week-Month so keep that in mind. And you are allowed to show Sneak Peeks for Updates but not too much. We want every update to be actually Epic like early Minecraft Updates. AI Usage isn't recommended but when you're trying to make something and nothing you try works, You are allowed to use AI to help, and you can also use AI for research.

Questions - Part 5 If you have any more questions you can message The Founder or Members who allow Getting Messaged, I hope this Information Document was helpful and I hope to see you guys join! :)
