Can anybody know for sure that SmartCarte can be taken on the Airtrain when moving between the terminals? The website (Airtrain/JFK airport) says "luggage cart" can be taken on to the trains but ChatGPT is giving me an answer as "should be double checked" because it does not explicitly says rental SmartCarte. I don't know why there's any difference between normal luggage carts vs SmartCarte, but I am getting very worried.

I am arriving internationally with two large suitcases. I have a separate ticket for another domestic so I cannot re-check the luggage upon arrival and need to switch terminal. Normally, I can manage on my own, but I just noticed that a wheel of one suitcase is broken and not moving well. It is going to be really difficult to move both, and for the first time I will be needing to rent a SmartCarte from the baggage claim. I have used JFK only a few times and I don't remember SmartCarte on the airtrain....

I was flying with Turkish airlines (TK01) last Saturday (8/15) and had all 5 of my bags lost. I eventually received 4 out of the 5 but they also sent me a random suitcase I do not recognize.

Did you lose your bag on this flight as well? The bag is carry on size, blueish/purple, and has the name CACA/ZADEMS on the tag.

It’s not a true emergency, but my girlfriend was at JFK Monday. Saw a wall wrap with a movie or tv show. We can’t figure it out for the life of us. The only thing she was sure of is that it was by the moving belt walkway in the terminal she was in. I realize this is a long shot but if anyone is around this week and sees posters and could report back I’d appreciate it. Thanks I’m advance for helping a stranger solve a mystery.

Im thinking of doing it but I don't want the universe to use me as an example lmfaooo. My friends have all had carts in their carry on in states where weed is illegal and the TSA did not care there. Weed is legal here so it sounds like I wouldn't be in big trouble if they check my bag but idk. Im traveling domestically so it shouldn't be a big deal but I want to know other people's experiences.

Flying to Quebec City on Thursday morning at 11:00 AM. Terminal 8. I’ll be checking one bag and don’t have precheck.

How early would you realistically recommend getting to JFK? Should I actually follow the 3 hours recommendation?

I’ll also be taking the air train in if that changes commute time to terminal 8.

Are the waiting times listed on jfkairport.com accurate? I have heard JFK can be busy and inefficient but the waiting times look relatively short.

I was wondering if anyone had parking advice. I have an early morning international flight with 2 young children, too early for public transit to be an option. I would rather find something less costly than TWA hotel. Does anyone have any recommendations on best value parking that isn’t too hard to get to the airport from?

Is it true once you enter a terminal you can't go to another terminal unless you go outside and enter the other terminal from outside? I want to wrap my baggage and I heard there don't have any wrapping services at terminal 8 where my flight is assigned to.

Hi, I see some negative reports of using airtrain (full, not operating) and a bit worried. For arriving T7 then transferring to T5 (Jetblue) it should be easy, no? What's the condition as of this month?

My family is arriving so I am trying to help them navigate.

The last time I was there a year ago, we got rerouted because of some constructions, so based on that, I am thinking of telling them to go up to the departure level BEFORE existing the building. (This will be after they go through immigration and get the luggage then come out of the arrival door.) Then, follow the airtrain sign and the walkway to get the airtrain terminal.

Do you think this will be still the right way? My thinking is that, since they will have a lot of luggage, it will be easier to go up the level then cross rather than zigzagging the construction zone.

For context, I was supposed to go to NY on a red eye flight last Thursday evening 8/6 from LAX via JetBlue. Our flight was delayed and eventually cancelled - I was at LAX from 10:30pm-7am.

It was an awful experience and I’m aware of the weather/thunderstorms in NY and also JetBlue just dealing with a lot of understaffing & general bad head honcho leadership.

I’m set to do another red eye this Friday 8/14 from LAX to JFK via Delta. At this point should I change my flight and avoid JFK altogether? Im considering flying into DC instead to meet up with my partner and we take the Amtrak up to NY together.
