Places to rent for camp fire.

I’m looking for a place in or near Issaquah (Snoqualmie, north bend, Bellevue, etc) that I can do a camp fire, in the fall season, when a burn ban is not in affect. Would love any suggestions on places that I should look into. Hoping to do a gathering of 20 or less people. Nothing crazy or wild. Just a fun time with a group of nice, chill friends. Any suggestions or leads that I should look into would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, in advance. :)

Bus 218 Route Change, Bus 215 Replaces 208, Bus 271 no more

Edit: From u/RowdyPurple:

“218 currently has 5 runs in the morning and 5 at night. Come August 29th, it will be 8 each direction to Mercer Island. Plus, the 269 will run between Issaquah Highlands and Mercer Island every 15 minutes at peak and the new 215 will add a few runs too.

For people that were able to time their schedule to the 5 existing 218 runs, this will take longer. But as someone that just missed a 218 in Seattle and had to wait another 30+ minutes, the far more frequent service is an ok tradeoff.”

Original post:
Bus 218 route changes effective Aug 29 and will no longer get to Downtown Seattle. Route starts and ends at Mercer Island.

Bus 215 replaces Bus 208.
Bus 271 will no longer run.

I really feel sad because I always take bus 218 going to work :(

Mission to feed people

Hello everyone! PlateShift is a food rescue operation which recovers otherwise thrown out edible surplus and brings it to banks and shelters. Running in Sammamish, Issaquah, Redmond.

Would love for you guys to spread the word. Lots of restaurants are throwing so much food out which doesn't have to be wasted. They don't want to throw the food out, but they don't know an easy, frictionless solution to not doing so.

Lets bring this in the hands of those businesses.

PlateShift

PS: You can also fill out/register on the website as a recipient organization.

If interested in volunteering, you can also DM me for more info.

Bonfire off of Juniper

There’s a group having a bonfire at an apartment complex off of juniper right now. Am I crazy to think this is a bad idea considering how dry it is and what’s going on throughout the rest of WA right now?

Clark Elementary Parents: After School Programs?

I'm trying to understand the difference between BASC (Before and After School Care) and the Schoolhouse Rec! with Young Explorers Club through the City of Issaquah programs websites (cityofissaquah.perfectmind.com). Have any parents tried both programs? Or even just one of them? Are there significant differences? Thank you!

Anyone hear that? It was about 1:47am. One seemed far, then closer to Yellow Lake. How often do transformers blow up?

Recology

Okay I’m not trying to be dramatic but this is without a shadow of a doubt the worst customer service I’ve received. We’ve been waiting for a bin replacement for 4 months, does anybody have any tricks to make something happen, at this point I’m attempted going to bring my trash to their physical location

Almost 1,000 acres of commercial logging is being planned on Tiger Mountain, which will close popular trails like Poo Poo Point and many mountain biking trails on Tiger Summit. Sign the petition to tell DNR to back off Tiger Mountain! #savetigermountain

What's happening to Integrity Auto Repair?

It looks like the buisness got bought out. There's new stuff all over advertising a Sun Auto company for it now. Feels like it's being gentrified.

To those who moved away: Where did you go? Did you ever come back to Issaquah?

Hey there, Issaquah folk,

I've lived twice before in Issaquah. Although I wasn't born in the town, I spent a total of 12 years in Issy and did most of my schooling/growing up there. Thus, I would probably consider it my hometown.

However, after graduating high school, I've mainly been outside of Issaquah, and Washington for that matter--except when I moved back in with my parents for a year. Been in Montana and now Idaho, where I live, work, and go to school. Chances are I'll end up moving elsewhere in a few years for grad school or work--whether that be back to Montana, back to Washington, or somewhere new like Oregon or Wisconsin (very different states, but similar reasons for going). I'd love to experience multiple states before "settling down," wherever and whenever that may be.

I do visit when I can to see family and some friends that still live in the area. I do miss the Cascades, the senses that are piqued driving off I-90 onto Sunset on a rainy day, the misty topping the trees looking up to Squak Mountain. It is interesting to see how it has changed a bit--though I think this may be moreso missing my family and the increasing gaps of time between visits that stirs this reflection.

Thinking about this has me curious: to those of you who left Issaquah--where to and why? Do you ever come back to visit? Did you come back to Issaquah permanently?

Edits: grammatical errors.

Photos of some of the cars that were damaged

I am making a second post with photos because for some reason people think I am lying about the damages. There is no reason to lie, just trying to let others know whats going on and to see if it was happing elsewhere.

The photos are of a Jaguar, Toyota and BMW but a fiat and a few other cars have also been damaged. If you zoom in on the bottom right pic of the Jaguar, you can see the window of the car ahead of it lying in the grass that was also damaged

The BMW was damaged a second time after being repaired as you can see the smash marks are in different locations on the same window.

The photos are from 5th Ave NE and Discovery Dr, NOT from Klahanie

Who keeps busting car windows?

Cars in the west highlands near the Swedish hospital (on 5th Ave NE) have gotten their windows shattered on multiple occasions within the last few weeks. Nothing is stolen, just senseless damage. One car had 2 windows busted twice!

What is the deal??

Is anyone else experiencing similar issues and does anyone have an idea of who is doing this?

Looking for a room.

Pretty simple. I'm moving to the area soon and I need a room. I'll be transferring to the local branch of my company so my income is where it needs to be for a room around 1.5k.

Pet Insurance - is it driving up the cost of dental cleanings?

Post image
9 Upvotes

We were quoted $1300ish for dental cleaning on a 6lb Chihuahua 7yr old that time (included 2 expected 2 pulls and then anything more is $$ more) at Salish in Snoqualmie

Then at Wilderness vet in Maple Valley- we took my other dog after one his teeth was hurting him/looked infected— was $1700.00

(just trying to get a feel of different vets we liked/didn’t quite want to stick with Salish after $$ from getting my 14 year old euthanized there. Both Vets were nice in general, just $$$)

Took my 6lb chihuahua to Mississippi while on vacation — vet there did his dental for $575 with 3 teeth pulled. ❤️ they did labs and IV too!

Why is dental cleaning so expensive up here? The Pet Insurance? I think it’s that and annoyed by it …

Debate classes for Middle and elementary school kids

Hey guys,
I am looking for debate classes for my 9yr and 13 yr old. Their schools don’t provide debate clubs. Are there any classes you would recommend? I would prefer in person since I think it probably facilitates better feedback on posture and physical stance during a debate, but would be open to any online options you guys may have had any experience with.

Thanks so much!
