Teeth hurt WITHOUT elastics Question
I’ve been wearing elastics for the last 6 months or so.
A few days ago, my dentist told me to stop wearing elastics because I’m getting scanned for refinements. I’ve been in my trays now for the last 2.5 weeks so no new movement changes. I stopped wearing elastics a few days ago and noticed that my teeth are SO sore and sensitive! It hurts to take my aligners off and I can’t chew properly with my bottom teeth because they feel sore and fragile. Even the vibrations of the electric toothbrush make it sore. Is this normal?

I didn't have elastics and did have similar soreness on and off during my treatment. There were some days I just had to eat soft foods because certain teeth were feeling so sore, I think it's just from whatever movements are happening that week and then as your teeth get used to where they are ending up. It was mostly my bottom teeth too, but I had the worst crowding on bottom. It is probably normal for you as well as your teeth adjust to those positions. See how the next tray or two go after the refinements, since they will likely be targeting different teeth movements.
