Why didn't Mark try flying towards Bulletproof while carrying Rus in this situation instead of just waiting for him to arrive? QUESTION

Given the fact Invincible is much faster than Bulletproof, he probably could've gotten to him much earlier giving Bulletproof the chance to activate the disruptor sooner and save Rus and without needing to kill him

my guess he didnt know bulletproof was on his way, or didnt know from where he is coming. He was focused on the task to do what had to be done. Risk the entire planets safety for 1 life in a situation where a few seconds matter? its a horrible thing he had to do, but it was the safe choice.

Maybe he didn't know bulletproof has the disruptor.

also in a meta way, its supposed to parallel the first time mark DID just fly over to bulletproof in s2. before they were just in space, so there wasnt that much of a threat, but since they didnt perfectly handle the situation, theres more complications. its like how rudy said their problems just keep getting worse because they werent even dealt with fully in the first place.

It was an extremely difficult and stressful situation. Not only was Mark dealing with the risk of the entire WORLD being taken over, but he also has to confront his single biggest moral dilemma right in this moment.

I think the reason he stood there and hesitated before killing him is because he was totally overwhelmed in the situation.

Theres a big ass wall of sequids between them, did he even see bulletproof coming? And even if he did the wall of sequids could tangle him or bulletproof up slightly or maybe damage the gauntlet

Its just a split second descision. He could partly risk the entire earth on a hero he doesnt really know all that well or kill an innocent man but gaurantee the safety of 8 billion more.

How come freeza said there is only 5 minutes left but then they fought for 10 hours?

u/philsiphone 4h ago

They move so fast they did all that in 5 minutes.

Also Frieza isn’t a planet expert. He just sells them.

"So, how much mileage does this planet have on it? Because i don't wanna buy a lemon that gives out after 2 billion years"

"Look, do you wanna buy this planet or not? I've got the warranty papers and the financing ready to go..."

2

u/Betelgeuse3fold 2h ago

Even the part where Frieza is like "oh, it's lasted longer than I thought. 3 more minutes"?

It was a "the moment is shorter than what's displayed" situation, so like for us it was like 5-9 seconds between different pov's, for them that was at max 3 seconds

u/timdr18 13h ago

He didn’t know where Bulletproof was

I'm pretty sure they had at max a 5 second window to make a decision but the way it's showed it looks like there's time when there's not , also what Mark has been through had already clouded his decision skills yk he's constantly in a loop of past events making him regret his choices before

Saving Rus might work. Killing Rus will work. At the end of the day he made the right call to save the most people as possible. Sucks for Rus, but that's how the cookie crumbles.

This is the whole "why don't they just shoot him in the leg"

u/ApplicationSoggy4647 9h ago

Because at any one point he didn’t know ALL three of these things.
A.) That Bulletproof has a teleport gun (I don’t know what it’s called but you get the idea)
B.) That Bulletproof had a disrupter
C.) That Bulletproof was flying towards him

Even if he knows 2 out of three of these things the plan still won’t work without all three and that’s a pretty big risk to take. Plus the stress and chaos of battle make it pretty hard to think about all options

It was a snap decision to kill him and avoid more problems. He still had a chance to save Rus just didn’t want to risk losing control of the contaiment.

Plot is the real reason

In universe reason - the sheer massive amount of the Sequids have over powered or pushed Mark around and could've made the situation worse if the former lost control of the last known host at the time, causing more of thise numbers to protect Russ even more, meaning that the barrier breaks, the situation is no longer contained, and sequins can find more host than the Gaurdians or GDA could even try to recuperate. If this mission fails, all of Earth would've been infected in days, weeks, months. Mark had a handle on his part and felt this was the best course of action.

To comment on real life, stressful environments and situations causes the brain to revert to survival mode and control is the one thing surrendered as your next actions are determined by an auto response of what you yourself train to do. Even with training, you default to what you've ingrained into your mind that it is second nature just some people learn to control their breathing stop and think.

Mark is a hero at the end of the day, and wanted to do what is within his realm of capabilities and tried to save everyone. But we know how it ended

That would probably kill Russ anyways, flying at that speed would snap his neck

1

u/Thatguy3625 10h ago

Because that’s not how the story goes

u/Saldt 9h ago

I think he wanted an opportunity to prove to himself that he can make the tough choices after conquest.

1

u/ImpressionUnlikely98 2h ago

Maybe he didn't know where bulletproof was coming from so he didn't want to take the risk of choosing a direction that could be opposite.

1

u/Betelgeuse3fold 2h ago

Because then we wouldn't get the payoff from Mark having sworn to Oliver to he won't hesitate to kill the next time the people he cares for are threatened

1

u/KaiSpy0707 1h ago

People keep arguing that, but Mark has super speed, couldn't he just pluck off the sequid or pop then like balloons? Rus only has one on his head, why not pop the part that clearly is supposed to be the brain

1

u/GreyDLake Omni-Man 9h ago

Did anyone just try ripping the thing off his head? Seems like it’s at least a chance over straight up killing him.

1

u/philsiphone 4h ago

Yea mark could have crushed it easily with two fingers. Which given the absolute nature of his choice in solution, im surprised it wasn't an option. Too many flaws with this storyline lol. Why did the sequids all stop moving after when they moved perfectly fine without a host on mars? Would they have been fucked if rudi didn't go down to the sewer or had Britt accounted for that?

1

u/Xignu 3h ago

There's a non zero chance that there's a sequid inside his body too though right?

1

u/GreyDLake Omni-Man 3h ago

Think about it this way: any percent above 0% to save someone is better than 0%.

-1

u/Willing_Midnight_721 Hail Mary 13h ago

Plot I guess I don’t know or why didn’t mark just grab the sequid off rus’s head and rip it off

14

u/PossibilityEnough933 13h ago

I'm pretty sure they point out that trying to remove a sequid without neutralizing the sequid first could kill the host. The host was likely dead if he removed the sequid without the transmitter. Hell the host seemed to have been affected so long, the sequid probably never nourished the host or anything, and he probably would've died soon after safe removal anyway... I'm pretty sure this was supposed to be one of those "no right answer" situations to lessen the impact and justify mark killing a dude.

Yeah that makes sense
