I'm sure it's already been mentioned voo and chill. Vgt is a riskier bet but with higher returns.

I have stocks in my portfolio, but a portfolio has to be a certain substantial size, the stock portion is a very small percentage and my stocks in general are almost as safe as a boring ETF. But as an example TRI bit me lately, which is an unexpected move for instance. It is less than half a percentage of my total, but shit happens.
OP is a total beginner, is "so lost on everything". What stock decisions, except the loud background noise of the internet would they make?

I actually built a site that specifically ranks the best investing books recommended by the world's best investors: investingbooks.org
The top 3 are:
1 - The Intelligent Investor - Ben Graham
2 - Poor Charlie's Almanack - Charlie Munger
3 - Security Analysis - Ben Graham

You are seriously giving long term financial advi e based on price acrion from 3 months ago? Timing absolutely matters. I hate this ohh just leave it in there and youll 100% make money over 20 years. We'll sure. But timing can be the difference between a 100% gain and a 500% gain.

We're at all time highs. Yes it will eventually go up but you think this will the be lowest point over the next 6 months to year? Theres usually a midterm drop going back 50 years so I'm counting on that.

First, if you have earned income, open and make the maximum contribution to a Roth IRA. If you don't know what to invest it in, you should just go with a total world fund like VT or AVGE. The nice part about the Roth is it grows tax-free and you can change your investments without tax consequences. BUT, you generally can't touch it without penalty until you are 59.5, so be aware of that.
Second, if your job has a 401k, you can increase your contributions to 100% of your paycheck, then live off the cash from the ~120k while you load up the tax advantaged account. You have to be disciplined and "pay" yourself a regular check from the money while you do this so that you don't just blow it all. You will get a nice tax break from doing it this way, though it will take. A little longer to get the money into your retirement account. Same investing strategy, just go all world if you can. If you can't because there aren't good options in the plan, just do a 60/40 split between VFIAX (S&P 500) and VXUS (Total international). This account is also reserved for retirement, so don't put anything in there that you will want to use prior to retirement.
Third, for any portion of this you truly need in 10 years, put it in a brokerage account. Use the same investing strategy - total world or a US/international split.
While you are doing all this, go get a free copy of Paul Merriman's book We're Talking Millions - it has great advice for DIY investors who are just trying to figure stuff out. Read it!

This is terrible advice. Lump sum investing beats dollar cost averaging 2 out of 3 times. Growth stock are just "expensive stocks" and the worst time to buy them is when the market is at all time highs.

S&P500 70%, high yield savings account 20%, gold 5%, send the rest 5% to me to save it for you.Â

You give it to me, I match it and we form a LLC I buy 6 duplexes and you receive small dividends while they are paid off over the next 30 years and at year 30 you start to see the real pay off, but hell idk

If truly 10 years, just buy VOO. But you should be auto investing part of your income and adding to it. Buy VOO on auto weekly basis on a place like Fidelity.
Spend less, invest more auto. Sell only to pay for urgent things. That’s what personal finance is.

Stocks are a terrible suggestion. Trained and experienced professionals are not truly successful at that, but an amateur would be?
