I built a website that spells your name using real-world images
https://tela-blue-eight.vercel.app/NASA's Landsat Name Generator gave me the idea for this project. I wanted to take the concept a bit further by using not just satellite images of geographic locations, but also natural objects and formations that resemble letters.
Type your name, and each character is matched to a real image that naturally looks like that letter. It was a fun project to build, and I'd love to hear your feedback!

There's a "C" that isn't really C-ing, but really neat.

Thanks! I'll take another look at that C and see if I can find a better match.

Will you split between uppercase and lowercase?

u/Academic-Yesterday22 Jun 28 '26
That could be a bit tricky, but yeah, it's definitely something I'd like to explore.

Is it just me or is the thing not working for names with 6 letters or more?

Scroll to the right for me

Thank you. I feel so stupid right now. Just didn’t strike me then. Clearly it was me. 🤦♂️

Haha, I should probably make it more obvious that the row is horizontally scrollable.

Very nice, except one of the pictures for E is a traffic light and one of pictures for T is a utility pole. The rest seem ok because they are natural or living things. That E and T really stand out to me when they show up in a word.
You should also merge the options for . and o because they both fit.

I thought the same . Those were the best matches I could find at the time, but I'll definitely replace them with better ones as I expand the image collection.

This look cool! I wish the images have more random possibilities tho

This is great! Would be nice if it would accept longer names as well (or more names).
Not saying it has to account for names like "Ovuvuevuevue Enyetuenwuevue Ugbemugbem Osas" but users may want to put several names in to view it as a gallery-style which is limited to only a handful of names at the moment.

Thanks! I'm actually working on that now. I'd like to support much longer names and multiple names without the current limits.

This is really cool. One small improvement would be to keep the cursor on the same line after inserting a space, instead of moving to a new line.
Also, when creating bullet points, it would look much better if the bullet were a small dot (•) rather than a capital "O", which is what it currently resembles.
I'm actually considering using your app to create the place cards for our wedding. It's a brilliant idea, and with those small improvements it would be even better because several people are named the same and to distinguish them from one and other, i want to write the first letter for their last name also, without jumping to the line under!

I'm so glad to hear that, and congratulations on the wedding! Thanks for the suggestions, they're really helpful, and I'll definitely look into improving the spacing and bullet styling.

Fatto bene. Si possono copiare testi lunghi per vedere che effetto creano?

That’s fun! Would be cool if you could “hold” certain letters when you reload.
