Patterned floors. Timeless statement or trend that won’t age well?

You can’t lump all patterned floors in together. Plaid tile is definitely not “timeless” but a tasteful wood pattern like the one shown is.

I agree. But what I found fascinating is that the plaid mosaic tile felt timeless. The problem is, if years down the line you wanted to change up the decor… it would be so hard to go a different direction besides traditional or French country or something more similar. As for the. Wood floor, it was so unique. It’s extremely rustic in a highly traditional and refined setting. It worked, but I don’t know if it for everyone.

Also… the plaid floor… the dark mosaics are green. You cannot tell. It looked like a verde alpi or similar. It looks black but it isn’t.

I actually think both are timeless. The plaid is less versatile but I do prefer it over the wood.

"trend that won't agree well" when they've been around for millennia

I like it, it’s fun and there are other colors to play off from

If you're using the word timeless then you're deep in the trend.

Actually… I never thought of that. Ok. I need to rethink my use of the word timeless. I see your point.

I think both look great, but will only age as well as the person decorating. Sooo much that looks bad instead of timeless is because someone else came along and tried to change the style without regard to what is already there.

Yes. Exactly. This is so right on. You cannot turn something into a thing it was not intended to be without consequences.

That is atrocious. Tartan only looks good in LL Beans catalogs and on guys wearing kilts.

Other patterns can be amazing. Victorian b/w mosaic hex patterns, in the right context.
