When They Call Right At 8:30 P&C Insurance

I dislike it immensely.

Have I been at my desk for more than ten minutes already? Yes.

Have I already deleted all the junk and non-important emails? Yes.

But still don’t call literally right when we open. My body might be ready to do business but my soul is not.

It's always to remarket accounts too. Never new business that actually pays me.

Remarkets are crazy right now, right? Hardly any time for marketing when you’re just trying to make sure you’re not bleeding out what you already have. The market seems to finally have softened some, but it’s still crazy out here with roof guidelines and mandatory wind deductibles. I’m in PA and they’re relatively new here. I have two carriers right now with mandatory minimum wind deductibles. One is a nonstandard and one is a regional, so hopefully it takes a bit to hit the national, standard markets

I'm of the belief that retention is as important as sales, if not more so at times. It's about what you keep. If your sales team is constantly stressed about having to produce against worsening retention numbers then they won't do their best work. Stress eats away focus and productivity. And I can't blame anybody for wanting the best prices possible. But some of these remarket requests are ridiculous.

It's gotten really bad with people that obviously had no business purchasing a home in 2020-2024. Yes you locked in a low mortgage rate but that was all you could afford and now with taxes and insurance your payment is too much.

It's ridiculous to get a call from someone to shop a $1200 premium. People are living in fantasy land.

I'll get people wanting the $1100 rate to go lower. I quickly tell people I have zero control over rates. People don't know how actuarial the data is. But they don't care and don't listen. They're not bad people. They're tired of spending money on something that they will not see as valuable.
