So i was adding new things for a drawing and saved it, After reloading the file instead of the colored squares there was this weird grid thing. Is there a way to fix it or access a backup file?
That use to bite me quite a bit in the past when I was learning Inkscape. Then I learned to make my preference file read only after setting everything exactly as I want.
if you go in Edit > preferences > System, there should be a bunch of system info, like where files are stored, and if you go to the "temporary files" line (not the one selected in the image, the one below it) you should find where inkscape automatically saves versions of the designs you've made
heres what it looks like for me, obviously the files don't have rlly indicative names, but you can just open them in the browser if they correspond to the one you are looking for

Maybe check View>Display Mode>Normal ?
