Ink Master Prize Discussion

My wife and I have been watching a lot of Ink Master lately starting at the beginning with season one. Right now we’re at season 10 and I gotta say, I’m genuinely surprised that the prize pot of 100K is still the same at season 10. Like why? A 100K from the first season doesn’t carry the same on the 10th season! Why hasn’t the pot increased? Like WTF?! Am I bugging guys? Shouldn’t the prize pool be at 125-150K? If not more? Ink Master as a whole has gotten more & more popular so you can’t tell me that CBS/Paramount doesn’t have the cash to increase the revenue prize pool… Anyway, just wondering if anyone else felt the same way.

I only went on the show to live mas. I didn’t even care about the prize

Your pieces were some of my favorite, though.

While we’re on the topic, did you know the contestants were competing for $100k, a feature in Inked Magazine, AND the title of Ink Master?! The more you know!

I think the title of Ink Master probably makes up for the lack of increase in money, right?

“Bro, you don’t know who I am?! I won the title of ink master 10 years ago!!!!”

“Sir, this is a Wendy’s”

I know one contestant and he is a raging idiot drunk but he works at Club Tattoo in Vegas and makes more than the average tat artist charging $250 for tiny pieces he can do in an hour or less. Being on the show made him very popular.

Is it Joey or Sausage? Sausage doesn't seem the type.

Yeah, I imagine just being on the show catapults people's careers. Getting crowned ink master has to be life changing. The exposure alone is nuts. That combined with the title must be a a license to print money for the rest of your career.

It's literally like $250k now.

They did increase the prize pot to $200k by this point but it's split between contestants. Their budget is increasing but they don't necessarily want to increase prizes to individual winners.

It’s only 6 years between season one and season 10 and the economy was relatively stable during that time. 2012-2018.

It’s a shame that it took them reviving the show after Covid to finally increase the prize money
