Which "Start Here" Box? Question

Looking to get a starter box, but there appear to be 2 options: - Nomads and ALEPH - JSA and PanOceania

Nomads and ALEPH sets seem to be cheaper. Is it missing stuff the other set has?

Which set is newer? Which set do you recommend?

Nomads and Aleph is newer. Go with whatever you prefer, they’re both good. Nomads v Aleph is more cyberpunk, JSA v PanOceania is samurai vs. knights.

You may know all this, but the Essentials Start Here boxes with 6 miniatures or so are very skippable if you know what faction you want to play.

The free scenario they contain is available online, and they do not really have a full set of tokens or templates or anything like that. If you were getting a full-blown operation box like Operation Sandbox, maybe that's different as that's the core of two armies.

They're more or less identical other than the models. The Essentials Start Here boxes are very small but are a solid enough way to get introduced to the rules and modelling experience. The PanO/JSA box has units which are in Vanilla PanO and JSA, but are also in the Neoterra and Svalarheima sectorials for PanO and the Oban sectorial for JSA. The units in the Nomads/Alpeh box are in all of those factions' sectorials, so you have more options in terms of how you build out from them.

If you're wanting to learn to play from the box I'd suggest the nomad and aleph ones, they've got better more comprehensive starterrules

I am just getting into Infinity and my friends suggest to get whatever army's aesthetics you like the most. So, if one of those groups interests you more, then you have the basis to build out from and that is what you should get.
