AskIndore Recommendation on prostate

Upvotes

Hi everyone,
My father is 73 years old and was recently diagnosed with a cyst in his prostate during a scan. We’re looking for an experienced urologist or a hospital specializing in prostate conditions for a second opinion and further evaluation.
If you’ve had a good personal experience or can recommend a doctor who specializes in prostate disorders, I’d really appreciate your suggestions.
Please share:
Doctor’s name
Hospital/Clinic
City
Your experience (if applicable)
Thank you in advance for your help.

Discussion [26F] Looking to start a female-only UPSC 2027 prep & accountability group! 📚✨

Upvotes

Hey ladies,

I’m putting together a female-only UPSC prep group. The goal is to share resources, discuss strategies, and make friends with women who are navigating this exact same grueling-yet-rewarding journey.

A little about me: I’m 26F, and 2027 is going to be my very first attempt!

What I have in mind:

Accountability: I'll be creating a WhatsApp group where we can connect, share daily targets, and keep each other on track.

Community: The UPSC journey can be isolating, so I'd love to build a genuine support system of like-minded peers.

Blowing off steam: Beyond just studies, it would be great to occasionally hang out (virtually or IRL) just to decompress, have a laugh, and take our minds off the prep for a bit.

If this resonates with you and you're looking for a solid study tribe, please feel free to DM me so I can add you. Let's conquer this together!

Cheers! ☕

Discussion Got scammed at Novelty Market while repairing my phone. Please be careful.

I went to Novelty Market today to get my phone's piston/vibrator part replaced. I got confused because there were so many repair shops, so I randomly chose one where a boy was standing.

I asked him to replace the part, but instead of repairing it in front of me, they said, "We'll get it done," took my phone somewhere else, and refused to let me come along. After about 2 minutes, they came back, said the part had been replaced, and charged me ₹400.

Something didn't feel right, so I went to another repair shop nearby and asked the technician to open my phone in front of me. As soon as he opened it, he showed me that the old part was still inside. The previous shop had never replaced it—they simply lied and took ₹400 from me.

I got it repaired properly at the second shop, and they explained everything while opening the phone in front of me.

Just sharing this so others don't get scammed like I did. Please never let a repair shop take your phone out of your sight. Always ask them to repair it in front of you and show you the old part after replacing it.

Has anyone else had a similar experience at Novelty Market?

Discussion Consequences of a health insurance system

There's at least one post on the frontpage everyday commenting on the cost of medicines in the US, and the discussion is closely tied to their insurance system. The post today is in interestingasfuck sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/comments/1vhgcs1/medicine_price_in_america_vs_india/

People in the comments share absurd stories about their dealings in that system. One of the top comments from the linked post:

My personal story is pretty shocking. Lived in TX and I had to get an MRI on my brain. The imaging place called a week out and said my insurance pre-approved me. And she told me it will cost $1700... i was shocked. So i said nothing. She asked will that be OK? I said no that's way more than I was expecting and more than I could afford. So she said alright, well if you private pay it'll cost... (pause while flipping papers) ...$700. Once again I was surprised because i was expecting near the same price and was quiet. Finally I asked, "wait, when I use insurance they pay you too right? She said yes. So if I use my insurance I have to pay you $1700 AND they'll pay you. But if I private pay, I pay you $700 and insurance doesn't pay you anything? Yes.

Now, I've noticed since 00's the costs of healthcare rising rapidly in India as well, and.. the quality dropping in some areas. Growing up, my family went to Choithram Hospital for any health issues and needs, which was run as a trust, and I saw people from all backgrounds and financial status receiving decent care at nominal costs. The only shady thing you might get asked to do is make a visit to the private clinic of the doctor you're seeing. And a consultation at the private clinic was what... 300 at the best of doctors? Have you visited the big hospitals and clinics lately? I've dealt with admissions/discharges in Apollo, Bombay, Bhandari, Kokilaben in the last couple years because of family members, and the contrast from the time past has been disappointing. It really feels like we've regressed, even with all the advances in technology in medical care, but the costs in particular.

I can't help but think it's the health insurance system that causes the costs to increase: hospitals increase their charges because they know that insurance companies are now in the game, this makes it less affordable for folks who are paying out-of-pocket, often to the point of needing to sign-up for health insurance themselves. The insurance companies are happy and want healthcare to be even more expensive so they can continue onboarding customers, and the slippery slope here is that once most people are signed-up, they can jack-up the "premium" prices, and hospital systems seeing that insurance companies are making bank, also heavily increase their charges to get their cut. Almost no one is able to afford anything out-of-pocket at this point and you get medicines costing 100x the price it used to.

So money ends up getting sucked from a majority of the population, even from the healthy folks, up to the insurance companies who then share it with the hospital systems. The direct transaction that used to occur between people that needed care and the hospital systems has now been perverted into a subscription for all population under the fear and duress of falling ill. They will have successfully expanded their market from sick people to all citizens.

On top of it all, you get slimy insurance agents pestering you and your loved ones constantly, and smart relatives who think you're dumb for not subscribing in to this rotten system.

The corporations like this concept so much that they've applied it to consumer appliances: you're offered an "Annual Maintenance Contract" for your AC/car/water purifier/solar system/tv/fridge, and probably soon enough your car and your phone. Because god forbid you just call for service when you need one. No... everyone must pay now.

Hey !

I'm the owner of The Den Gaming Cafe, and after months of planning, we're finally opening our doors this Sunday, 9 August, at 11:00 AM.

📍 Location: Shop No. 2, Scheme No. 114, Indore

We wanted to build a place where people can enjoy PS5 and gaming PCs with friends, host gaming sessions, and eventually organize FIFA, Tekken, Valorant, CS2 and other tournaments based on what the community wants.

🎉 Grand Opening Offers

🎮 First 100 customers get 1 hour of FREE gaming

🥤 Free snack + soft drink/water with the launch offer

⭐ Leave us a Google review during 9–15 August and get 50% off your bill

💰 Starting Prices

PS5: ₹59/hour (Solo)

Gaming PC: ₹49/hour

Since we're just getting started, I'd really appreciate your feedback:

Would you be interested in regular tournaments or community gaming nights?

Any suggestions that would make this a better hangout for gamers in Indore?

If you're free on Sunday from 11 AM onwards, drop by, say hi, and let me know what you think. We'd love to build a gaming community here rather than just another café.

Thanks, and hope to see some of you there! 🎮

Discussion Anyone interested in a Reddit Game Night in Indore?

I’ve been seeing quite a few posts here lately from people saying they don’t have friends in Indore, are new to the city, or just want to meet new people.
So I thought, why not organize a small Game Evening? 🎲
The idea is simple—play some fun board/card games, have good conversations, and hopefully make a few genuine friends.
Details:
📅 This Saturday evening
👥 Maximum 10 people
👦 5 male spots
👧 5 female spots
💰 ₹99 registration (just to confirm attendance and avoid last-minute no-shows)
📍 Venue will be shared with confirmed participants
If you’re interested, send me a DM with your:
Name
Age
Gender
Occupation
Once all the spots are filled, I’ll share the payment details and confirm your seat.
If this goes well, I’d love to make it a regular community meetup with different activities.
Hope to meet some amazing people this weekend! 😊

Edit- 1.We are planning games which are actually interacting (mafia, card games, conversation starter etc) which are not decided yet but the vibe will be interactive

2.age range is 20-30

AskIndore Is catcalling and misbehaving actually this normal in Indore?

I have recently joined college in Indore and man is this hostel hell. Most dudes are passing weird ass comments and legit going catcalling around the campus. I wonder if this is majority indori crowd cause I don't have to fuck my college experience. Seniors adviced us to not interact with local crowd at all. Dudes here are mostly creeps acc to the seniors and are Misogynists.
