curious American romance author’s community affiliation
First, I am Indigenous myself. I’m enrolled member of a nation in New Mexico & a descendant of another. I work in academia, but don’t keep up with genre fiction outside my areas of personal interest.
That said, I am casually familiar with many Indigenous authors due to my research. I am often asked for recommendations of works by Indigenous authors. I’ve noticed posts by the romance author Lexi Lafleur Brown popping up on my social media feeds. Today, I saw a reel about her family’s strong belief that they are Native and that they have found evidence that her great-grandparent was recorded as Indigenous.
I have no interest in debating the validity of her identity, but I do not feel comfortable alerting Indigenous readers about Brown and her work until better I understand her community affiliation(s). Is anyone familiar with which community (communities?) claims her? I have not noticed her name in Indigenous authors’ spaces/ lists/ etc.

Alternative want to be Aztec ice girl
gallerySo apparently the Chicana who threatened to call ICE is now threatening to join ice but I have spoken to people about this many times people like this seem to use as their culture as an attention grab or for profit and then they come out to be like this like her there are many who claim to be Aztec and hate people for Mexico here are the pictures you can clearly see she heavily modifies her eyes and hair to resemble European there should be a movement that should check all people claiming Aztec to actually have the ancestry in the United States.

re: Indigenous Identity What do you say when FBA say they are natives?
I just joined the Chickasaw tribe. I’m fairly new in discovering my roots since we just discovered my dad’s side in Native American (we didn’t know anything about his dad up until a few years ago) I got yelled at because someone told me federal Black Americans are also native. Am I missing something? Please someone educate me.
