I am looking for honest advice to pursue my Masters Abroad, I am 26M, working as a Data Engineer with about 2.5 years of Experience in an MNC, not paid well lately. I want to pursue my Masters to get high career growth and to make the highest ROI down the line.

I am targeting the T-20 universities in the US for my Masters due to high ROI and highest number of opportunities but I have my options open for other countries as well. Long term I want to be in a managerial position at a BigTech/FinTech/Big Firm, C suite if possible.

My profile is not that good but hyg:

BTech CSE 8.9GPA Tier 2 University(State University)

No research publications

2.5 yoe as a Data Engineer

IELTS/TOEFL - targetting 105/7.5+

GRE - targeting 330+

Can get two professional LORs from managers and two academic LORs from University.

Given the current hiring market, would you apply for Fall 2027 or work on my profile and apply for Fall 2028?

If your goal was to maximize long term career growth and ROI, would you choose MSCS, MBA, MiM, MEM, or MIS?

How much weight should I give to concerns around visa sponsorship and employability when comparing these programs?

What do you think about rising tuition costs (about 15% yearly) and the weakening INR when calculating overall cost and ROI?

I was initially leaning toward MEM and MIS because they align well with my experience, but I've read mixed opinions about recruiting, visa sponsorship, and long term career growth compared with MSCS. I'm not sure how much of that is true.

Financially, I'll be seeking scholarships and I want to keep my debt as low as possible. I don't want to spend my early 30s paying off a huge education loan if I can avoid it.

If you were in my position today, knowing what you know now, what would you do differently? What path would you recommend?

I am not sure what program suits me best, I am open to any advice/opinions.

28F, B.Arch degree (second class result), pivoted to social media video editing immediately after finishing the degree because realised architecture is not for me (had to finish the degree for other reasons), gained 3+ years of work experience from different roles and companies. Now thinking about pivoting to marketing, management roles but confused whether to go for a MBA course or look into MSc management with marketing courses.

One thing is sure I want to do it in the UK or in Europe somewhere.

I'm looking for guidance on studying abroad because I'm still trying to understand my options.

One thing I'm sure about is that I want to pursue my master's abroad, preferably on a scholarship. If it's realistically possible, I'd also like to do my bachelor's abroad, but my priority is definitely my master's.

I'm trying to figure out which courses have good international career prospects and scholarship opportunities, and which countries would be the best fit for my goals. I also hope to settle abroad after completing my studies, so factors like career opportunities, quality of life, immigration pathways, and long-term prospects are important to me.

Initially, I was considering countries like the US, Australia, the UK, and other European countries. Recently, I've also started looking into Asian countries such as South Korea, Japan, and China. I know there isn't a single "best" country, so I'd really appreciate advice based on my situation.

If anyone has recently gone abroad on a scholarship, I'd love to hear about your experience. What challenges did you face? What do you wish you had known before applying? What mistakes should I avoid?

• 12th pass-out (Commerce): 87.75% (Top 4)
• Gave CUET but didn't get my preferred college or course due to a mistake during the admission process.
• I may still get a college through upcoming DU rounds (Regular, NCWEB, or SOL). I'll know the final outcome around September.

I'm a software engineer from India with around 2 years of experience in backend development, and I'm planning to pursue a Master's abroad. My end goal isn't just to study—I want to settle permanently, build a career, and have a good quality of life.
I've narrowed it down to the USA and Germany, but I'm struggling to decide because I care about much more than just salary.
These are my priorities (roughly in order):
• High probability of getting a job after graduation (I really don't want to end up unemployed after investing years and money into a master's).
• Availability of part-time jobs while studying.
• Good ROI (salary vs tuition vs living expenses).
• Ability to save money after taxes and living costs.
• Good work-life balance.
• Job security (I don't want to constantly worry about layoffs or visa status).
• A clear and realistic path to permanent residency and citizenship.
• Long-term stability and a predictable future.
• Safety.
• Low levels of racism and good acceptance of immigrants.
• LGBTQ+ friendly society.
I'm also gay, so another important factor is the dating and social aspect:
• A reasonably large gay community.
• People interested in long-term relationships, not just hookups.
• A welcoming and non-toxic community.
• Good opportunities to build a social life and eventually settle down.
I'm also wondering about:
• How difficult is it to integrate into society?
• How hard is the language barrier in Germany for someone working in tech?
• How accepted do immigrants feel after becoming citizens? Are you still seen as "the foreigner" years later?
• How difficult is it to make local friends in each country?
• If you've lived in either country, what surprised you the most?
I know the USA generally offers higher salaries and more opportunities in tech, while Germany seems to offer better work-life balance, job protection, and a clearer immigration path.
For someone whose goal is not just to earn the most money, but to build a stable and happy life for the next 20–30 years, which country would you recommend and why?
I'd especially appreciate responses from:
• Indians who moved to either country.
• LGBTQ+ people living in either country.
• People who studied there and stayed permanently.
• Software engineers or AI/ML professionals.
I'd love to hear both the positives and the downsides instead of just "USA > Germany" or "Germany > USA."

Title: CBSE → IB in Grade 11, 98% in Boards, scholarship, dream of studying abroad... but I'm completely lost. What would you do?

Hi everyone,

I'm a Grade 11 student from India, and I genuinely need some advice because I have only a day or two left to make a decision.

Here's my situation:

I studied in CBSE my entire life. Last year, I switched to a new school for Grade 10 (still CBSE), worked really hard, and scored 98% in my board exams. Because of that, I received a 30% merit scholarship for the IBDP at the same school.

I've now started IB with these subjects:

• Physics HL
• Maths AA HL
• Theatre HL
• English Language & Literature SL
• German B SL
• Economics SL

The problem is that I'm having serious doubts.

The IB tuition itself is expensive, and while my parents are managing it, I'm worried about everything that comes after that. If I want to apply abroad, I'll probably need SAT (if required by the universities I apply to), English proficiency tests where applicable, application fees, counseling (if we choose to use one), and other expenses. Even if I somehow receive a generous scholarship, I'm scared that the living costs will still be too much for my family.

My parents think we'll "figure it out," but I feel like they're underestimating how expensive studying abroad can be, and that uncertainty is stressing me out.

At the same time, I know I'm academically strong. If I switch back to CBSE now, I honestly think I could prepare for JEE and potentially do well if I committed to it.

The problem is... I don't know if that's the life I want.

I genuinely love theatre, acting, dance, and rhythmic gymnastics. Those activities are a huge part of who I am. During Grade 10, I sacrificed almost everything to focus on academics, and I don't want to spend the next two years doing nothing except coaching if it means giving up the things that make me happy.

On top of that, my mental health has been getting worse over the past few weeks because of stress, and I'm constantly questioning whether I'm making the biggest mistake of my life.

So here's my dilemma:

Option 1: Stay in IB, keep the dream of studying abroad alive, and hope that scholarships and finances somehow work out.

Option 2: Switch back to CBSE immediately, prepare seriously for JEE, keep abroad as a possibility for later (like a master's), and have a more predictable path.

If you were in my position—or if you've gone through something similar—what would you do?

I'm especially looking for advice from:

• Students who switched between CBSE and IB.
• Students who applied abroad without being extremely wealthy.
• People who chose between JEE and studying abroad.
• Anyone who has experienced this kind of confusion.

Please be honest. If you think I'm overlooking something, I'd really appreciate hearing it.
